This morning, we headed to the casino and spend 5 hours there. We only spend $100 the whole time. Almost came home with that, but we were having fun.
Came home and fixed supper. After the news and while watching TV, mom called. She was checking on us for the day. Then she asked if I knew that Lisa - my nephews wife - passed away today. I told her I didn't know.
On Tuesday, we had the arrival of my niece's daughter. That was fun and photos were sent. They looked happy. I can't wait to go and see her. I'm not that close to that family, but we are getting better at it. My brother now has a house in Vancouver, so hopefully we can see more of each other and mend the relationship we have. Time will tell. Alicia is a cutie and the baby is just as cute! It will be fun to see her.
I have been getting texts from my nephew - older brother's oldest son. We passed happy messages back and forth. I would ask how Lisa was doing and was told they were doing well. When my brother told me what she had, I figured at that time she didn't have much time. But I didn't figure it would be that quick. I was told about a month ago. She had breast cancer that went into the bones. I was told she had a mammogram in Jan, and it was clear. I was shocked to hear the news. They found out when they took her into the hospital (ER) because of the back pain. That's when they found it. They live in Oklahoma. Mom said she talked to her the other day to see how she was doing. They were keeping the information from her daughter, just the other day. She asked to see her daughter and talk to her to say goodbye. At 10 years old, that is not easy to watch your mother die. This family was very quiet about it all. They keep secrets when they don't want anyone to know. So, that secret as kept from me, even today. My mother was the one to tell me. I was not expecting any of our children's family's to pass on, on us. I expected my brothers and myself to go before our children or their spouses. Life has a funny way of sticking their tough out at us. So, it's a one day at a time life. We never know when something like this happens.
Mom asked me what I wanted to do for my Birthday. Again, I have no idea. So, I said so. She said she would take me out to eat twice for lunch. I said it was a deal. So, the first one is Monday at Bill and Bee's, a burger joint that is AWESOME when it comes to burgers. I am looking forward to it.
As much as I want to say I was, I can't say I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!
