Time To Get Moving!

This morning I was up and went to help my neighbor. I spend a good hour and a half chatting with her before coming home.

When I got home, I knew I needed to get a few things done. I went downstairs to see if I could find an easy or quick block that I can do in Brazilian embroidery. I found the book that had some really pretty flowers in it. I decided to make a few of them for the quilt. I made an enlarged copy of a couple of the pattern. Then I cut the fabric and marked 3 blocks to work on. I need samples for the demo next week, and this way I can give the block over for Felicia's quilt.

I started one of the blocks. I was going for "fall" theme on this one. All I have to do now is get the flowers done. Then I'll start on the next one. The flowers shouldn't take too much. I hope they like it. I wasn't too thrilled with my fabric. It's too thin because one can see through it. So, I'm being careful on how I finish them on the back.

I worked on my cross stitch as well. I decided to take a photo of the back for Instagram. A lot of them were complaining about how the back looks doing the method I do or even the other method. I don't see it being a major problem. It looks okay. I could do with a better back work, but happy with the way it looks.

I was working in this area today I'll get a better photo later. I'm happy with it so far. I'm loving this and so sorry I can't get to work on it as much as I would like.

Tomorrow is QOV, and I'm thinking I won't be going. I would, but the last couple times I went, it wasn't so much fun. I won't be do as much as I thought I would. I have to work on more eagles, and right now I don't have the time. "Should I go or should I stay?"

Tonight I really want to get moving on my cross stitch.

Tonight is Halloween! Not sure if we will get any trick or treat-ers. We didn't have any last year, so it will be interesting to see if we get any coming to the house tonight!

Happy Quilting!

Freaking Out....Need Too Many Projects Done

This morning I did sleep in. I'm really breaking records on sleeping in! I think it has to do with the sun not coming out as early as it usually does. I'm betting when the time changes again, I'll be back to waking up at 6 am!

I started to freak out! I went downstairs to see if I could find some pattern or kit that has Brazilian embroidery on it. I found two I could do, but they are complicated and I don't have the time to work on them that I need. I should have started one of those last week. I need to get a block done for the quilt we are doing for Felicia. I may have to design one myself. Plus I realized I needed some pieces to show at the demo next week. SO, I decided I'm going to have to go to the shop and get my two pieces she has for display. I also have some practice pieces that I have from the Seminar and will go with that. In the meantime, I need to do a design for Felicia. Way too many things need to be done!

Then I pulled out the felt for the eyes and noise of the mice. I didn't like the looks of them, so I decided they needed a face. I put the eyes and noise on. Then I took it to the bowling alley for dad to take home.

I don't care for the way they look, but I did what the pattern was. I called mom when we got home to make sure dad gave her the block - nope! She said we'll add a pin mark to mark the month. I really don't care to be truthful. Not crazy about the block, so not real happy. Maybe when it's in the quilt it will look better.

After I did that, I worked on the family history. Patrick's family is getting bigger. I was able to get one of his family branches to England. We had ancestry world till today. I had to cancel the subscription before mom got charge way too much for the use. I'll add more information from my paperwork and go from there for awhile. When they have another deal, I'll get back on.

Then I wanted to do some cross stitch. I was able to get 50 stitches in. I would have loved to have done more, but we had to go for bowling. I love working on this piece, but I have way too many things I need to do and the cross stitch is having to wait...ugh. I have the butterflies to do for mom. That one should be easier and quicker. BUT the Brazilian embroidery is first on my list this week. Let's see what I can do tomorrow for Felicia. I may end up doing that design after all, but it's going to take a while to do it. Maybe I'll design my own. Should be interesting!

Tonight was bowling...I bowled a 178, 204, 161... not bad. I did keep my average and that's the best part! I almost lost another pin, but the 204 helped me!

Have a great week and stay Happy Quilting!

Finished Another Block....Needs eyes

Today I was up early. Things went great this morning. Patrick slept in and I enjoyed my games on the tablet. I gave up waiting on Patrick to get up about 9:15 am. Went over to the neighbors and helped her with her socks. I'll have to do that tomorrow as well. Depend on how long it takes Patrick to get up!

We went to the casino. Not one of our better days, but we are still ahead for the year. Came home and Patrick worked out in the yard. I worked on the block for mom. I don't really like this block, and maybe that's why it doesn't look like mice. I don't know. I need to add the eyes to it.

Hopefully when the quilts together, it won't look so bad.

While I was working on this this afternoon, Patrick came in and told me Miss Kitty was at the top of the tree trying to get birds. The birds were playing games with her!

I went out and found her (middle of photo) and the birds (top left). She was trying to figure out how to get up there to them. I thought she'd fall if she wasn't careful.

She climbed this tree that has the bird feeder on it. There are birds in the feeder, while she's up in the tree.

I was amazed at how good she was on that tree. The limbs on that tree are few because the other tree that was with it, died. We cut it down this year.

This is her on the branch checking out the birds. I couldn't believe how comfortable she was getting with that tree. It's going to be interesting with her and the birds!

After she came down and saw me, she headed for some TLC.

Love how she looked at me! You'd think she was innocent!

I wasn't able to get to my cross stitch, yet. I'm hoping to get to it after I finish typing this. I've missed it! I went downstairs and pulled out a couple patterns that I'm thinking of doing. I will check with Katt when she gets here to see what Christmas Stocking she wants me to make. There are more patterns that I'll have to pull out when she gets here.

This morning when I went to the neighbors, Miss Kitty followed. On the way home she ran past me and kept looking back to make sure I was coming. It was funny, because that's what I do to her! Even my neighbor watched the show!

I'm glad that block is finished! I have the butterfly one to do next! I also realized I need to get some samples of Brazilian embroidery for the "demo" I'm doing in a week. I asked the group to bring some samples and it didn't happen because we all forgot. So, since we are working on a quilt for a dear group member, I will cut some blocks and do some samples. That way they can go in the quilt.

Okay, I'm done rambling! Have a great weekend and Happy Quilting!

Quilting With Friends

Today I was up even before Patrick. I woke around 4 am and was in and out of sleep all night. I got up and went downstairs to go through my cross stitch magazines. I wanted the "Family Tree" pattern that I thought I had. I think I sold that magazine. So, I decided to look for another pattern I had, and realized I sold it or gave it away when I cleaned out my magazines. I thought I would never get to them. I found a few more patterns I want to make. So, I'm going to get a few patterns put together to work on. I went on ebay and bought the two patterns I was looking for. Decided it was easier that way!

I was at my neighbors just about 8 am. We walked a mile. She wouldn't have been able to go anymore than that. She's doing great getting out and walking.

I came home and grabbed my stuff and headed over to moms for quilting.

Arrived at the folks house to find moms neighbor parked her car in the driveway where I always park. I had to park a couple houses down from mom. She told me I could handle the walking, so she took my parking spot. I usually park there because I stay longer then everyone else. Got in the house and half of them were already there. Went to get tea, and the tea pot was empty. Not a way to start my day! I had to make more tea. Then two more members came in and took my chair. I had to move, but mom gave me her chair and sat next to me in a "diner chair." Really not my day. I told mom she could have her seat but she said that was fine.

I worked on the "flowers" or cheese or what ever they are. I then was ready to put my mice on. OH NO, they were going the WRONG way! Since I marked this "back-basting," I had reversed the pattern. So, because I reversed the pattern, the mice where not reversed.

These are no good! They were done with freezer paper and going in the right direction. Because I had the pattern reversed, and didn't reverse the freezer paper mice, I couldn't use them. So, I put the (back) ear on and have one done. I have the other two to do then I'll do the head. It shouldn't take long, and will continue with the back basting method.

I haven't had a chance to work on my cross stitch today. When I got home, Patrick was shortly behind me. I enjoyed time with Miss Kitty. Patrick wanted to go out, so we went to McMenimins for supper and a movie. We saw "Suicide Squad" again. We got home about a half hour ago. Which means - NO time to work on ANYTHING tonight. At least I got a little closer with my block. Mom had three blocks done and working on another. We started getting the fabrics for another block. So, at this rate she is doing most of the work! She's not waiting on me. LOL

I was thinking last night - YEA, I know, not a good thing! Anyway, I was thinking about all this stuff I've been making....what happens to it when I'm gone. Will it get thrown out? If it goes to my kids, then what? I don't have grandchildren to pass this on to, and I probably won't have grandchildren to share my crafts. I've seen a lot of crafts (quilts, embroidery, crocheting, etc) that have been thrown away. I'm going to be the end of my generations of crafters. That's life, and I'm okay with it. My dream was to be able to pass down what I know, but that won't happen. I hope my crafts are appreciated after I'm gone.

Happy Quilting!

Good News From the Eye Doctor

Today I was up around 8 am. I was even more surprised that I slept in that late. I don't know if it's because the sun didn't come out or what. Either that or I'm starting to enjoy sleeping in.

I went to walk with Cherrill. It was good to get back to walking. We had a good walk in, pretty close to a mile.

Came home and played again. Then got myself to pull out the applique block. I need to get this block done for mom.

I have a few more pieces to add to the "flower" or cheeses - whatever they are.

I'm listening to "blitstitch" while I'm typing this. I realize I get a little boring at times and lately I KNOW I've been boring. Explains why I don't get as many checking out my blog - I'm okay with that.

Blitstitch you tube is very interesting. I like to see what Brian is up to with cross stitch. He has as many projects in cross stitch as I do in quilting!

I had my eye doctors appointment today. The good news is that the rosacia has not entered my eye. It's close but if I keep up with getting my rosacia down, then I can get it away from my eye. I need to put hot pads on my eyes! Only for a few minutes, and it's just a towel with hot water to make my eyes do better.

So, I didn't make it to work on my cross stitch. I'm down because of it! No, not really, just miss it!  I'll work on it tomorrow. I really need to get this block done to get caught up to mom. She's got 3 blocks done to my 1.

Happy Quilting!

Another Day of Appointments

Today was one of those days that I couldn't get up. I went over to the neighbors and helped her out, as I have been doing for awhile. I helped her with the ancestry site. We went and found a few of her relatives she didn't know she had. I showed her a way around the genealogy through ancestry. She showed me her book she made of her family and I love it! It was photos, documents, letters, and family group sheets. I'm going to try and do a book like that! It will be fun with the stories I found on some of the family.

When I came home, I played a little on my tablet and then basted some flowers on the block I'm working on. I got part of it done. I was able to work on it at the doctors office. I have yet another appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow to make sure I don't have rosacia in my eye. What fun!

Then I came home and I worked on the cross stitch.

I was able to get this far last night. I am to the top of the middle section. There is a gap where the fabric shows between the bushes and the trees.

I also had some of the white done last night and worked on some more of the white today. I'm doing pretty good considering. I really do what to spend more time on this. Hopefully tomorrow I can. All depends on the rain. If it rains I can get time to work on this. Otherwise, I'll have to wait till tomorrow night.

Tonight was bowling and I bowled a 178, 173, 178. Which keeps my average at 173 for this league. We had trouble all night with the lanes, but they kept them going. We were the second to the last to finish tonight. The team that was last is a team that is always last. So, for us to keep up with them means we did pretty good.

Tomorrow is another day....Happy Quilting!

Enjoyable Day of Projects

I'm breaking records today! I actually slept till 8 am this morning. It really felt good. I fed my kitty and came back in the house to enjoy my time to myself. Funny how I'm getting to enjoy that more and more. Tomorrow I'll be out of the house a lot, so might as well enjoy it while I can.

I pulled out my applique and worked on my block. I have a feeling mom is about 2 blocks ahead of me.

I first decided to baste the stems to see if I could get them done today.

After putting the first part on, I basted the second part. It's to go off the fabric, so only had to do it to the seam allowance.

Next was to work on the "flower" area. This one is the one that has a lot of circles. I put the first part on.

Basted the light green next, and realized I didn't like the way the looked. So I put the other fabric (bottom) there to see if they worked better.

It did and I put them on. I will probably baste the next pieces on so I can take them with me tomorrow to my appointment. Need something to work on.

I enjoyed some TLC time with Miss Kitty. She loves attention but she hates to come in. She has to have the door open to feel safe I guess. So, I give her a little attention before letting her go and shut the door.

I then worked on my cross stitch for a little bit. I was able to get about 100 stitches in. Will take a photo tomorrow after more stitches are in. I do have a photo on Instagram if anyone really wants to see what I did.

Nothing exciting has happened around here. It was quiet and fun. Got a lot done considering. Happy Quilting!

A Wonderful Gathering

Today I was up and ready to go. I vacuumed to have the house ready for guests.  Then I went to Cherrill's and helped her with her socks. Miss Kitty followed me over to her place. She found the dead bird from "suicide bombing" the window. When I left Cherrill's the poor bird was gone and Miss Kitty had some feathers on her chin when I called her to walk back with me.

Got home and got my blog written for yesterday, since we had a power outage last night. As I was figuring a few things that needed to be done, guest started to arrive.

Today was our day for Brazilian embroidery. I had the table set up for Halloween for the fun of it.

We all sat around the table.

We stitched for a good 2 hours then we had lunch. After lunch we stitched another hour. Everyone called it a day around 2 pm. We had a good time and got a lot done. We talked about what we would do for our fellow stitcher who had a stroke and her cancer is terminal. It's not looking good for her. We are collecting embroidery pieces to put in a quilt. I have one, but couldn't find what I did with it, so will do another small piece for her.

While we were stitching, I worked on the third bird (left side). I was trying to get the body right. I've been adding more color to the bird. This one is more yellow than any of the others. It's also in the "background," so I just need to do the head and shoulder area and then it will be good. I'll add the other bird in front of it next or work on the bird I had the stuffing part already set to stitch on. It's fun seeing how much I can get done.

After everyone left, I went back to working on my "Nantucket Rose" cross stitch. I have the house coming to life. We'll wait and see how much I can get done tonight. I'm excited and can't wait to see how far I can get.

So, when I sat down to work on my cross stitch, I had some stitches going in. Then I needed to cut my floss, thinking that I had used my scissor earlier when I sat down. I then proceeded to look for my scissor (again). I lifted the chair, checking underneath. I check the bathroom since I went in there. I looked in the kitchen since I was putting food away. I then went downstairs to pull out my box of Brazilian embroidery to see if I had 2 pairs of scissors in there..nope. Okay, let's check the chair again, nope. 20 minutes later Patrick gets home. I told him I was missing my scissors and if he finds them to please let me know. He proceeds to check the table I'm working on, (with the comment of needing to clean up my table) to no avail. THEN I thought about what I used the scissors for and when was the last time (before I needed them) that I used them. Okay, let's just take a look at the SAL (stitch along) project to see if I accidentally put them in there. I pulled the bag out and my heart sank, because they were not on the bottom of the bag......so, what the heck, let's just see if by chance they are there and hung on something.....BINGO! My scissors were stuck on the magnet in the back of my SAL project!! Then my brains says, "Oh, guess I didn't use them today after all!" DUH!

Now that things are back to "normal" if one wants to call it that. I'm going to sit and enjoy working on my project tonight! May we all be Happy Quilting!

Power Outage

Due to the power being out last night when we got home, I wasn't able to post. So, today I'm posting for last night and then later will post for today.

Yesterday I was up and ready to go. I went to Cherrill's in my sweats and she wasn't ready. She didn't realize I would be coming, so we agreed I'd go back in a couple hours. Patrick slept in, so I didn't take a shower. He likes to complain that when I take a shower, I'm waking him up. Well, yesterday he did sleep in till 10 am. It's almost like he's a teenager all over again!

I kept busy with my cat and games while Patrick slept. After he got up, I was ready to get some work done on my cross stitch.

I finished up the "Part 2" of the Beautiful Sea Quarter - stitch along - that I'm doing. The second part came out on Friday and I couldn't get to it till yesterday. I like i so far, and my mind is wondering what will be next. I worked on this all afternoon between watching old movies - with Gary Grant and Barbara Stanwick. There were two movies and I'm trying to think if she was in both of them or not. Even Patrick sat and watched them with me.

The Seahawk's game was while we were bowling. I bowled a 242, 182, 191, which brought my average up about 3 pins. I was thrilled. We even took 3 games. We didn't have our partners because they were on a curse. They will be back today. We had brought subs in but they couldn't bowl because we were in the final week of the quarter, so they came and left. Patrick and I were on our own with our partners as blind. We bowled the first place team, so it's interesting to see if they won the quarter or not. If the other time took 4 then they will tie. Oh, well. We were not anywhere close to winning!

As we headed home, got a "fyi" text from our neighbor that the power was out. We kept looking to see who big of an outage it was. It turned out to be pretty big. It started on the left side of Jackson Hwy at Carol Bezy's (a mile north of us). When we got to the corner store, everything on both sides of Jackson Hwy was black. Our lights were the only lights one could see. We stayed up checking our phone for the score of the game. Patrick said we need to get a windup radio for emergencies. I agree.

Happy Quilting!

A Day Way

This morning I wasn't able to sleep, so was up earlier than I had hoped. Patrick wasn't too thrilled when I woke him up as well.

I helped our neighbor. Then came home and played on the tablet for a little while. Then I pulled out my applique to work on.

I finished up the pieces in the leaf. I was able to get all but two done before we went to the movies at noon.

We went to my folks to see my Aunt and Uncle. They were here and heading out to AZ. We enjoyed a couple games of square 9's. We also had supper.

While I was waiting on everyone to play games, I worked on the rest of the leaf. Then I worked on the mice. I have them glued together right now. I started putting the middle one together. I almost finished the middle mice and then decided I'd wait till we got home. I really don't want to work on this right now, so it's going to wait another day.

I'm hoping to be able to work on the cross stitch. I've missed it for awhile. I tend to go through "withdrawal." (smiling)

Happy Quilting!

Rainy Day Friday

This morning I was up and over to Cherrill's by 8:30 am. W walked about 3/4's of a mile. She was doing good walking. She said she could feel the difference when she don't get out to walk. I've got to go check on her this weekend since Ruth won't be around to help me out. She's got other plans in the mornings.

Patrick was home. He took the day off. Which let him sleep in. I couldn't believe Miss Kitty! She followed me over to Cherrill's and waited on me. When I came home and started calling her, she was coming from Cherrill's house! She was in a big hurry to get to me. We had about 3 hours of TLC time all day long! She even came into the house for a little while. I'm trying to get her used to the sounds that go on in her. She's starting to get used to Patrick walking around and making noise, but she still runs from him if he goes towards her.

I worked on the leaf. The mice will be next to work on. This block has a LOT of circles. Mom said today she was getting ready to start another block. That would be block #3 for her.

I gave up on the block after the leaf was done. I then pulled the quilt out...

I'm down to one corner and one side to finish quilting. It was getting a little warm with that in my lap. But then again, it was rainy and cold. Plus I had a sweatshirt with two other shirts on. So, with three layers, I got warm. I'm happy to say I did get most of one side done. Which means I'm very close to having this finished.

I did find that my backing isn't quiet where it's supposed to be. That 2" border isn't covered completely one one side. So, I'm going to have to cut my border in half. Not sure how that's going to look. But then with this quilt, it's not the looks that matter. It was a gift, and I love it because of that. I don't love it because of the work that was put into it. I love the gift, and won't look a "gift horse in the mouth!"

Last night I put a few stitches in this piece. I'm getting to the part of the house. I'm loving how it's coming. I need to post this on Instagram. I'm planning on working on this tonight.

I did get the next part of my SAL piece. I'm going to put that off for this weekend. It shouldn't take very long. I do like the piece that's next.

I've been enjoying the cat most of the day. I also got some laundry in. Today was a very good day for me and Patrick. He worked his butt off outside. He spend most of the day out there, and when he came in, it was starting to rain. Then it poured! I even fixed a casserole for the neighbors.

Enjoy the rest of the day! Happy Quilting!

Hello Thursday

Today I slept in. The rain was out and about. I had Patrick drop off some decorations for Ruth on his way to work. Then I went back to bed. I woke to the phone ringing and it was Cherrill saying she didn't need me today. I thought of climbing back in bed, but decided to get moving.

I did the usual - playing on my tablet. To be truthful, not real sure what I did this morning...didn't amount to much.

I finally pulled out my applique and worked on it for a couple hours.

This is the block where it's in the reverse of what it's supposed to be, but I'm not worried about it. We can fix it in the quilt.  I was going to cut the mice. That way I could put the mice together before they go on the block. May do that yet.

I dd get to enjoy the cat all day though. Maybe that's were time went this morning. She was thinking about coming in, but didn't make it in. Love the way she looks at me!

While we were giving each other TLC, we had visitors. There are 3 deer out there, one is behind the tree.

Miss Kitty was checking them out. Then came back for more TLC.

After about 2 hours of working on the applique, I decided to work on my cross stitch. I was able to get about 50 stitches in. Not enough to warrant a photo. I had Patrick pick up some stuff at the store. He came home with what I needed for the cake. I made it after supper. It's different and it's a recipe mom had from Germany (1970's). I hope it's good. lol

Happy Quilting!

Another Day...

Today I was up and off to see Ruth for walking. We ended up shortening the walk because she was having trouble with her back. Then walked up to help Cherrill.

Came home and was working on the Q-snap quilt frame I bought from Teri.

I was trying to figure out how to use the extensions that came with it, but after some thoughts I figured it out.

Trouble is, the frame is a lot bigger than I thought it was! It is as big as my coffee table and would take up most of my living room. Our living room isn't that big (hope to have a bigger one when we move) and I would have to remove the coffee table to put the frame up. Guess I'll have to work on my quilts downstairs, whether or not I use the big frame or this one.

I then pulled out the bag of patterns or the 2 blocks I'm working on for the "Forest Galorest" quilt blocks. I marked my blocks for back-basting. Once I did that, I cut out the mice for the one block and basted down a part of the leaf in that block.

Once I did that, I realized I put it on - reversed! - so it's facing the wrong way. Called mom and we are going to move a couple blocks around so that it won't matter.

I was also able to enjoy some time with Miss Kitty. She was in the house when I didn't realize it and was calling for her. She shot out of the house so fast! She's a beauty!

I then took the afternoon and watched a couple of my shows as well as finished the SAL (1st Part).

Now I wait and see what the next step will be. The next step is Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing what come out next.

We had bowling tonight and I lost another 2 pins in my average. Took me awhile to figure out what I was doing!! I bowled a 158, 145, 171. Not good!!

Tomorrow will be a day of applique and cross stitch. I'm looking forward to being Happy Quilting!!

Working on my SAL project

Today started out very early and off to pick up Art. I dropped my car off at the folks. I even took the fabrics that I used on the quilt block to be added to the other fabrics we used. Then I walked over to Art's. We headed to the casino.

Casino - we had a good time. I came home with more money then I took. That's a good thing. They had spaghetti and meatballs as a special, so we both got that. I didn't do very good on the Keno.

Forest Galorest project - I went to the folks after the casino. Mom was across the street. She came back home and we worked on putting the fabrics together for 4 more blocks. 2 blocks for mom and 2 blocks for me. She's already got her second block almost done. I will try and work on it tomorrow. The best part is that I have tomorrow and the next 2 days to myself. I'm going to enjoy working on a couple different projects a day!! Woo Hoo! I'm excited!!

SAL project -

I worked on this last night while watching "Dancing with the Stars." I was thrilled to get this much done. I really like this. I'll have it done by tonight and then I can get back to the "Nantucket Rose" which has been neglected for the past week.

Quilt frame - I finally brought the quilt frame in the house. I'll try and put it together tomorrow and see if it will work up here. If it does, I'll be thrilled. I'm thinking I'll be using it while on the couch. Not sure which chair will work out. I'm looking forward to getting more done with the quilts.

Genealogy - My DNA test came in! I'm so surprised to find out I'm more European West and  Irish then I am Scandinavian. I found my 8th great grandparents from 1599!! They were one of the first ones to come to this country! I have found two sets of grandparents who came on the Mayflower and one set that came on the John and Mary (?), something like that. I'm having a blast finding more who came over. I just wish I could get that much information on dad's side. I'm still stuck in NY in 1790's. Hopefully one of these days I'll figure out what's stopping me!

So, it's time to be Happy Quilting!

Busy Day...Still Getting Stuff Done

Today I was up early to walk, but OH! Wait! it's raining...still. I did walk down to Ruth's and chatted with her. Came back home and played a few games.

Then I pulled out the remote and turned on "Murdoch Mysteries" while I was getting about 60 stitches in on my cross stitch.

Then I got up and went to the quilt shop to meet Teri. I bought her Q-snap quilt frame that is a floor frame. After that, I still had time to kill, so I went to moms. Mom and dad where in Portland with my brother who flew in for lunch. I was going to go, but I had my radiology appointment. I stayed at the folks for about a half hour and head up to Olympia for my appointment. I was drinking water the whole way. I was even more surprised at all the traffic! I'm getting tired of all this traffic. Years ago we didn't have half that traffic.

While I was waiting - yep, I was early - I worked on my Baltimore Liberty quilt block.

I was able to get part of the flag done. There are 4 of these on this block.

When I got home my floss arrived in the mail! That's what I call happy mail!! It's from the SAL (Stitch Along) that I'm doing.

I went downstairs and pulled out all my fabrics that I had from the 90's and found a sea green that I decided to work with. It's 18 ct. and really pretty. I cut what I needed off it.

Put it on the bars and now I'm ready to get started! I'd show the pattern, but I can't. Beautiful Sea Quaker is the pattern and one can get more information from clinking on the name. It's a mystery but I love the colors so far.

Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have a photo of the part I have finished. I plan on getting the first part done today.

Tomorrow I'm going to stop at moms and get the next block ready to work on. (The quilt we are doing together.) Having fun! Happy Quilting!

Seahawks Won and I Appliqued!

Today started out at 8 am. I'm really surprised that the last week, I've been able to sleep in till 8 am. Part of it is the rain and the other part is that the moon or sun isn't shining in the window. But then again, I've been wearing my mask so I can sleep better.

I was up and enjoying the morning to myself. I played games and waited on Patrick to get up. Once he was up, I showered and got ready for the Seahawks game.

I pulled out the fish from the quilt mom and I are working on.

Last night I had the main body of the fish done. Then today I finished the fish with the head, fin, and eyes. Then I worked on the circles around the fish. They are not perfect but I did get them done. I took the block to bowling to have dad take it to mom.

Called mom to make sure she got the block. She loved it. I was surprised, but happy she likes it. Not sure which block will be next. I will probably find out on Tuesday when I take Art to the casino. I usually stop in and see the folks.

We had bowling today. I didn't do as good as I would have liked - dropped another 2 pins in average. I did bowl a 205, 153, 148 - dropped as I was going along! I couldn't believe it. But it was my problem of bad habits.

Now I can get back to my Nantucket Rose cross stitch till the next project comes along. I do have an appointment in Olympia tomorrow, so will be taking my Baltimore Liberty blocks with me to work on.

The good news - SEAHAWKS WON!! Tomorrow is another day.  In the meantime ....... Happy Quilting!

Second Storm Coming In...

Today I was up and off to help Cherrill with her socks. Ruth will take care of her tomorrow. She'll be gone on Monday and I'll be gone on Tuesday. We'll work it out. Ruth is getting herself ready for moving. She's getting a garage sale load of stuff going and she's cleaning out her house. It almost makes it seem like she's leaving tomorrow, and as fast as time goes, she will be.

I showed Cherrill ancestry.com so she could find her Taylor family on there. Her family looks a lot like mine and wonder if it's possible that she is related in a very distant way.

We went to the casino and were back by 1 pm. We stopped at the store to pick a few things up. Then came home.

I worked on the fish while watching "2012" on TV. It was a 3 hour program and Patrick had it taped. We sat and enjoyed the movie while the winds kicked in!

Our storm is hitting pretty good. I tape some of it and put it on Instagram. One has to view the hole thing to see how bad the weather hit! We're not done yet either.

I did well by working on the fish. I'm hoping to get the fish done by tomorrow. Guess I'll be doing the fish tonight and work on my cross stitch tomorrow. Called mom and she said she finished her block, which is what I figured she would have done. I need to get moving on mine. She also said there were 5 members of our group that showed up yesterday.

I was able to get Miss Kitty in the house for a short time. She didn't like the idea that I shut the door. But she lasted quiet awhile before she wanted out of here. I'm hoping she will get used to being in here. I really do want her to relax and come in for TLC.

Even when Patrick wanted to be out all day, I was able to enjoy appliqueing. Looking forward to getting this block done and off to mom. Then who knows which block I'll get next.......Happy Quilting!
