One Heck Of A Day

Today was one of those days that didn't stop. I was actually up earlier than I have been getting up lately....but that didn't seem to slow the day down.

I started out with calling Cherry and planning on walking later, since it was very cold this morning and looked like it might rain. So, I went into the computer room and worked on the certificates for Wednesday's honorees. I also got my list up graded. I checked on everything we needed. Then I got side tracked with family history. I worked on that while I was fixing some information.

Before I knew it, it was 1 pm and Cherry and I went walking. That was an hour of my time. Then I realized I needed to get some pillow cases for the presentation and I needed to get the fabrics ready for Bev J. Really not liking giving up my fabrics to her, but I have 3 of them ready for her. I will have someone else do the kit she has. So, for the next 2 hours I worked on getting the pillow cases cut and ready to sew. I pinned it and all 5 are ready to be sewn. I was planning on doing that tomorrow.....I just hope I get home at a decent time to work on this and to get the binding done on the quilt!! I just realized I need that quilt on Wednesday...ugh!! Between pillow cases and binding.....lets see if I even get them done!

I was also working on laundry and went to answer the phone when I looked into the dryer and found this......

Not what I needed.

She was checked out what I had in there. When I reached in to take the clothes out she left.

Then it was back to getting the certificates signed. And the other stuff that needed to go in the envelopes. I also got some information going. Once all that was done, I went on the computer getting back to my family history - realizing a couple hours later that I NEEDED TO WORK ON THE QUILT!! Beats me what I was thinking!!

While watching DTW I was working on other stuff. I'm going to just hope I didn't waste some time today and I can get the quilt done tomorrow. I'll leave myself a message to work on them tomorrow as well as the pillow cases. Then I will hope all is well.....we'll see. Too much work to do!!

I'm not sure I can say I was "Happy" Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Had Some Fun Today

This morning I was up way too early. But I got moving. I decided to make some homemade blueberry muffins. I got a recipe off  "all recipes." It was really good.

I was having fun with the recipe! This is the egg (on the bottom), milk and oil. I love how it separated. I put the oil in first, then the egg, then the milk. The milk covered the egg and the oil covered everything. I got a kick out of how it looked. The muffins were awesome and it's a "keeper" recipe. I will add it to my book of recipes.

Then I wanted to do some pretzels as well. So, I baked some more bread - pretzels. They also turned out wonderful.

I needed to make the first batch a little darker, but the second one came out great. They are the old German pretzels - which are soft pretzels. They really did turn out good. I don't know what my problem was! I never seems to get all my baking or cooking to turn out good. Usually one of them turns out to be crap. This time, who knows what my problem was, but it all turned out great. And both are "new" recipes for me.

Once I got all that done, I sat and worked on my beading.

I have 108/446 rows done. I really am loving this. I was trying to do laundry but didn't get much done. I wanted to work on my beads instead.

I really do need to get the quilt done. I have one more side of the binding to do. I will work on it tomorrow. Tomorrow is the only time I have between now and then to get ready for the presentation. I also need to do certificates and getting things ready. My mind is going nuts on all the stuff I need to get ready for. I have a feeling Barb forgot to contact our 90 year old to have him come on Wednesday. If she did, we may have to have him come on the 26th.

We then went bowling. I bowled a 205 and then went in the "toilet" with my bowling. I then bowled a 147, 156. Just not what I would have liked to have done after that 205. At least I'm getting better and getting a couple 200 games here and there. We lost 1 1/2 games and won 2 1/2 games. We tied on the total pins at the end. We almost split the games, but Patrick was able to tie it for us. We were in 2nd place before we started.

At least I can say today was a good day. Sue dropped off her quilt tops, and I have them ready to take to a quilter - if we can get a quilter to quilt them. I was able to enjoy beading and be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Getting Ready For Wednesday

This morning we were ready to head out to the movies.

Before we headed out to the movies, we stopped off at the museum to see how many quilts I had for the presentation. The good news is there were 5 there and I added 5 more. I have one here at the house that I'm binding, so it looks like we can do all the presentations for October. Just wish we had another quilt to use. Diane put a "Help" out for another quilt. I just checked my email and there was a call answered. I'm hoping the person is close. I'm thinking it might be one of the gals from Olympia. If so, I can pick it up.

We then went to the movie "Abominable" with was really, really good. I really got into it. It was a twist to it! Well worth seeing!

We then headed to Walmart for some color catchers that I ran out of. There were a few other things we got as well. I couldn't get out of there quick enough. I'm so glad Patrick didn't want to wait around to look around.

I had a few things I needed to do today. I washed the backing of the 2 quilts that Sue has. Then I cut out the batting. Once all that was done, I ironed the backings. Since I was in the middle of a Hallmark show, I got a few of Patrick's shirts and ironed them as well.

My beads arrived today. I put some in a tube for Sharon. I'll be dropping that off on Tuesday. I have a few more beads to add to the Snowman pattern.

As much as I would LOVE to say I did some beading, quilting, crafting.....I can't say I did today. I'm trying to get ready for Wednesday when we do the presentation for QOV. Just making sure we have everything we need is keeping my brain going constantly. I can't wait for Wednesday to be other. I even got a call from a quilter who took one of my kits, she's having trouble with the kit. I told her to bring it Wednesday and I will exchange that with the fabric for her to make the quilt. I'm not happy to do that, but I will this time. I just will have her NOT take another kit. Others seem to get them put together without any problems. Oh, well.....

Looking forward to being back to being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Another Day Helping.....

This morning I had to be up and out the door early. I needed to be up in Olympia with Dan by 11 am. I went to mom's first to help her out. Hildi dropped off the quilts that Barbara had for us.

I then headed up to get Dan, and on to physical therapy. I was prepared this time. I took along my eagle to work on.

I was able to get the top of the wing done. I actually enjoyed stitching this. I almost picked up back up when I got back home.

Instead, I put another label on one of the 2 quilts I picked up, then I got back to stitching the binding on the quilt I had.

It's coming along and I should have it done by tomorrow. I'm planning on dropping off 5 of the 6 quilts I have tomorrow.

I like the way it's coming along.

Things are going along. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game, but the game is starting to get ahead of me. I have another 2 requests that need to be done.

It trned out to be a good day to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Another Busy Wednesday....

I don't know what it is about Wednesdays, but they seem to get busier each week. I tend to think Wednesdays will be quiet days, but that doesn't seem to happen either.

Today I started out with starting to do laundry.....I started it, but didn't finish it - last load still in the dryer. I have a ton of laundry left to go, but for some reason I couldn't get past two washes. Guess I better work on that tomorrow.

Then I went walking with Cherry. We talked about the load next door. We are okay with who is going to buy it, but now they are concerned about what they are paying because they still have to pay the water and sewer hookups. That's a whole 'nother story.

Came back home and decided I need to get moving on the binding of the quilts. I have the QOV quilt and the 2 quilts for Dian.

I trimmed and cut the binding for the QOV quilt. I got the binding on it. Now it just needs sewn on, and I realized later today that it needs to be done by this weekend. So, I'm going to do the binding on this....yet another thing I have to do.

I then trimmed the quilts for Dian. I didn't cut the binding out yet. I have it trimmed and ready for when I cut the binding. I'm going to do a mitered corner for both of these. They will go a lot faster than the QOV quilt.

Patrick came home early, and I was watching "Finding Your Roots." After that I worked on my beading while he slept out on the deck. Then it was time to go out to eat before bowling.

We went to Wendy's to eat as I was hungry for a burger. I do love a burger. We both had the burgers without fries. Afterwards had time to run over to Walmart and pick up my protein bars. I love to eat those at breakfast time.

It was time to go bowling. I'm happy to say, I'm getting better. I bowled a 175, 201, and a 169. I'm happy with that. I'm thrilled I was able to get a 200 game. I beat everyone tonight. Patrick was just under me. The other team was struggling and none of them were above a 464. That is very unusual for them because 2 of them are 190 averages. We did win all 4 games. I'm happy with that. We are in first place.

Enjoying My Beading.....

As much as I would love to say I put the labels on 3 quilts and bound another QOV quilt, I won't say that. I didn't do that. I know I need to do that, but I didn't do that.

Instead I spent a good portion of my day beading. I listened to a podcast for the first time today. It was called "Armchair" something and I found I enjoyed it. It was 2 friends talking to each other - celebrities. I like to see what type of people are in show business. I found a couple that were interviewed that I decided I didn't care for them after the interview. This podcast I listened to 2 of them - Amy Schumer and Jason Ritter. I actually enjoyed it and found I have more respect for Amy then I ever did. At first I didn't care for her, for some reason or another. Then I listened to her talking and I found I like her as a person. So that was interesting. I started to listen to Lavar Burton but found that I didn't care for the book he was reading. Now I have something to listen to when I can't find a good book on tape. Trouble is, it eats up my battery life on my phone. I may have to put that on my tablet - but don't want to.

While I was trying to listen to the podcasts, I had one phone call after another! Then I had one text after another. What fun. Found out someone bought the property next to us. NOT happy about that. They want to put a duplex or 2 in there. NOT happy about that. I would love it if it was a house, but when someone as rich as these people busy it, there isn't spit I can say to change their minds. They are in it for the money. NOT happy. The property is owned (till the 15th) by the Uncle of my other neighbor. He called and told the family he was selling it. The amount he said he wanted and the amount he got are two different things - family was told the higher amount. Family (Cherry and her son) are both very upset with the Uncle. I am too! He was in it for the money and he got the money! Now the neighborhood has to deal with yet another duplex. I have a duplex on the other side of me, and now I will get another one on this side. NOT happy. House - I'd be happy - duplex NOT Happy. The 2 duplexes on our street are not kept up and they are not taken care of. Major pain. We got more traffic because of them AND that was when my cat disappeared 2 years ago!! We had some shady characters down there. This has been a safe neighborhood, and now with more duplexes coming in, it won't. Buyers don't care what the neighbors want. So, chances are building will beginner before the year is out....UGH!!

So, between chatting with Raymond (Cherry's son) and beading and Patrick texting and beading......I was able to get some beading done.

Till this....... I wasn't paying attention when I reached for my needle......pulled up the mat where the beads were and the whole right side went all over the place. This is actually after I put some of the beads back in their slots. At times like this, I'm so glad I don't have the whole tube of beads sitting there! I used the tubes to help me figure out what color went with what number. It took me about an hour to get all these back in place. NOT my favorite thing to do, but needs to be done.

Once all that was done, I went back to work on the bird. I got so into the podcast I had to take one row out, because it didn't work right. No clue where I got the numbers of beads I added that didn't belong. It turned out to be about 5 beads that didn't belong. Who knows what I was thinking. It's coming along nicely and I really do like the way it's coming along.

I played games this evening. I seem to be hooked on "Lily's Garden" lately. Can't seem to quit playing that game. I need to do my daily's on a couple other games as well. So, I will close this and get back to playing.

It was a good day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Day Of Waiting....

This morning was running around to make sure I had everything I needed to leave.

I started out with going to the bank, then headed over to get Dan. He was staying at a friends for Dungeons and Dragons game. I picked him up early, then we headed to the doctors office. We were actually 30 mins early. At least there was a nice Aunt and niece there to talk to. That helped pass the time a little. We ended up waiting an hour (from his appointment time) till he got in. It was another 45 min wait while he was in the appointment. I forgot to take along my embroidery - and man! I could have gotten a LOT done if I took it with me! UGH We then went to Arby's and got something to eat. After that, I took him home.

On the way back, I needed to get gas. Then headed over to moms. I took her the paper and then I also took some veggies for her. I fixed her computer page she was looking for.

Came home and had a message from a veteran that he wanted a quilt. I went ahead and got him signed up. Let Barbara know. Then I called Sharon because our beads came in (missing a set of beads) and found out Bill has been falling a lot. He's not doing good at all. He has a hard time standing up. Then I found out her older daughter has cancer and isn't expected to make it. She really wants to go to her daughter but she can't because Bill can't care for himself. She's really not ready to go through this again. I called Kathleen Amendt to see if she could help us out with quilting the tops. Not at this time, she's busy. But I can take a quilt top over as long as I don't have to have it or have a time limit on it. One at a time. I will drop one off so she has it when she has a break.

It's been a day of good and bad news. It's been a day I wish at times was different.

So, I decided to take a little bit of time while Dancing With The Stars were on, to do some beading -

I finished row 99/446. I am now on 100, but only about 1/4 of the way done. I really wanted to get a lot more done, but I'll work on it tomorrow. I have time to work on it this week. I'm getting excited for the bird to finish up.

I'm not really "happy" that I didn't get as much done today. But I am close to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Sunday, September 22, 2019

It Was Sunday.....And I Didn't Do Much....

Today I enjoyed sleeping in. Then I got started on my games.

I got laundry going. Then went to work on my beading. I couldn't seem to keep seated and bead. I was up and down most of the time. The Seahawks game was on, and we Lost! Ugh.

At least I did get one more row done - I'm into row 99. It's almost like when I get close to finishing my quilting, I can't seem to finish it right away, I tend to stall. Funny part is - this isn't close to being done - it's just close to row 100. UGH  98/446 is done. Half way into row 99.

The bird is close to being done - I think. The white in the chest is almost done as well. So, there has to be a finish coming up! Can't wait to have one bird done and work on the next 2.

Then it was time to go bowling. I'm happy to say, my bowling went better. I started out with a 182, then a 176 - things are looking good. Then in the third game I blew the 9th and 10th frame - UGH! I could have gotten my 200 game, but NO, I finished with what I got the first game -  182.

At least I tried to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Trying To Get To Line 100!

This morning I woke with a headache. Never like getting up with a headache.

Played a few games, then had some pains, so told Patrick to keep an eye on me, because I wasn't feeling the best of myself.

So, I sat down at the table and worked on my beading.

I was able to get another 5 rows on here. That puts me to row 98 - 97/446. I'm really trying to get 100 rows done. I think it will be close to where the bird starts to finish off. I like the way the bird is looking. Even the tree looks good. I did 3 rows before we went to Safeway. Then after supper and while Patrick was watching his shows, I sat down and finished another 2 rows. It's coming along pretty good and I'm actually feeling like I am getting something done.

While Patrick was outside working on the yard, Elvis came over - our neighbors English Bulldog. He's a cutey and wanted to play. So Patrick played for a little bit, then I tried to take him home but he wanted to play with me. He was running around - and that's one big dog to be huffing and puffing!

Checked to see if my beads are coming in anytime soon, since they are coming from NJ. I ordered them Thursday night, and they are in the mail. I checked the tracking and it's at our post office as of 7 pm tonight. So, I should have them on Monday. Would be nice if I had it before I headed up to get Dan to take him to his appointment. If not, I'll have to take Sharon's bead up another day. I won't be going up there for another couple weeks, I don't think.

I have enjoyed being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Binding Day

Today I was up and ready to walk. Then I got a phone call regarding QOV. I was one the phone for over an hour. Poor Cherry, she started out to meet me and the dog next door (puppy) met up with her and almost made her fall. She called my cell to see what happened to me, told her I'd be there in 10. Then I got a lecture about not meeting her when I said. I don't blame her, if the dog had knocked her down then it would have been really bad.

After our walk, I went down stairs and worked on the bindings of 2 QOV quilts.

I did a different binding for each one.

Depends on which quilt. I have one more to do the binding on.

It was nice to get 2 of them done. I have one more to do. It will be this weekend or Monday. Then I can do the 2 for Dian. I took the 2 quilts to mom so that she and Ethel can work on the stitching it down.

We took mom to the "Downton Abby" movie tonight. That was one really good movie. I could have done with out the "gay" guy kissing another guy. But that's just me. It was an awesome movie.

At least I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Tomorrow Is Friday......

This morning we passed on walking. Decided to wait till later.

So, I mopped the floor, vacuumed and cleaned up. I knew Barbara was coming and I wanted to have the house half way clean. I worked on laundry as well. I got 3 loads done before she came. The other 2 loads were done after supper.

Barbara F came over today to go over how to schedule QOV veterans for us. She won't be coming to the presentations, but she will be setting them up and getting information. That is a major help for me. I also had to call the other Barbara as she has 2 more quilts for us. Barbara and I went over all the information and how to find out who requested a quilt. We went over how to schedule and that we took WW2, Vietnam, and Korean work vets first. She's got it done pretty good. Then as we were going over the information, we found out the main office put her down for helping Boise Id and not us. I sent an email to get that fixed. It was so funny when we saw that!

My quilt is now listed on the QOV page. We need votes for my quilt! I will put the money toward our group. If you would be so kind as to vote - for #075 Please Vote Here. All votes are appreciated.

Patrick came home early because he was having to go to his district meeting. He had to be there at 5 pm, then at bowling by 6 pm.

I then went walking with Cherry around 6:30 pm. We ended up taking an hour. It was because we ran into her son and there was a long chitter chatter about it.

Came back in and turned the "Finding Your Roots" series on that I had recorded. Some of it I already saw but couldn't remember it all. While it was on TV, I listened as I worked on my beading.

I am now on row 93/446 - which means I finished 92. I got 2 rows done today. That's a good thing. Once can't tell I finished 2 rows, because it's so little with these beads. I did order some more beads for the snowman pattern I have. That will be my next project after this one. I'm loving how this bird is coming to life. It will be so much fun to have him done. I'm excited to see how it comes out.

Tomorrow is another day, it's Friday. I think I will work on the bindings, but that's what I'm thinking now, let's see if it actually gets done. May do 1 and then go back to beading.....who knows what my brain will decide tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what I decide. Patrick wants to go to the movies tomorrow, so who knows.......

At least today, I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Back To Beading

This morning I woke at 8:20, got up and called Cherry thinking we'd walk. It was raining, so I went back to bed. Slept till 9:15 am which shocked me. Called Cherry and told her we'd walk at 10 since the sun was out.

I worked on games when I got back. Plus Sophie had to have her TLC time. So, I spent an hour with her, then got laundry going - because I'm way, way behind on that. Once all that got going, I decided it was time to get back to beading.

This is actually the back, but they look the same on both sides. I'm now on row 91/446. I can't wait to get to 100. I will work on it tomorrow as well. I listened to my CD's from the library and then those ended and it was quiet. lol  I went on line to find the 3rd book in the trilogy and it's about $40 from BnN. So, I bought the cheap one that was a ex-library CD. Shipping was almost as much as the CD. Then it said I won't get it till Oct 6th. Oh, well. I went back on the library and put 2 on hold and hope it comes in on Friday.

Then it was time to go bowling. I did a lot better tonight and I'm getting my form back. I did get over 500 in series. I bowled a 184 the first game and that felt good. Then I bowled a 173, and a 155. Patrick did a little better than me. It was a good night. We won 3 games and last Patrick saw, we were in 1st place. Nice place to be. Tonight wasn't so easy because the other team had us by 133 pins handicap. We had a lot of making up to do.

It was a good day for Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

One Busy Day...Including Embroidery, Beading and Cross Stitching

This morning I had time before I had to leave for Olympia. Tumwater, actually.

Before I knew it, it was time to go. I left at 11 am because I had to get a few things done. First was Safeway to get a Starbucks Chai Tea, then off to the Post Office to get stamps with the next stop at the Library to pick up my hold. There was 2 cars in front of me. The one in front of me, returned 8 books, and picked up another 10 books. That's a lot of reading in 3 weeks.

Then it was off to Tumwater. I went to my appointment and worked on my embroidery while I waited.

I did another set of rose leaves.

Then went over to Bill and Sharon's. Bill told me I messed up on one of the quilts. So, I got a little lecture on what I need to do with the borders. I listened and will work on it. I saw the work, and he did a really good job of hiding it. I understand why he was a little ticked about it. I will try what he suggested. I did have trouble with that border and wondered at the time if it was off. Yep, it was. I should make myself double check that.

On the way home I stopped at moms. I dropped off the newspapers. Then I headed home. Got home around 3:30 pm and started making some tomato sauce. It turned out a lot better then the last time.

After supper I pulled out my beading and worked on another row. I didn't get it all done yet, but will do that tomorrow when I work on laundry.

I'm rowing the work so I can get to the row easier.

Then Patrick wanted to watch a show on Netflix, so I quit and pulled out my cross stitching.

I was able to get a few more stitches done. I really don't like half stitches, but I'm going to do this! I will finish what I started and hope I like it better when it's done.

It's been one heck of a busy day, from running around to getting some stitching done. I have 3 quilts that I need to put the binding on and may end up doing that tomorrow. At least one quilt that is. I do want to get back to beading, so that will be a hopeful thing. At least I'm home all day tomorrow. Which should keep me Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Time For Brazilian Emboridery

It was an interesting morning. I was all ready to go to our meeting......but NO, I wasn't!

I headed out right a 10 am. Had to deposit some money, then go to the Library to drop off the CD audio, with a stop at McD's for ice tea. Once all that was done, I was on to our meeting.

I seem to find other things to do at the shop instead of working on my projects. I did get some work done, but at the same time I found some fabric for my friends Birthday. I think she will love the fabric. Got her 2 yards. I'm going to look for more for her as well.

I worked on the leaves again. I'm almost done with the rose leaves. I'm happy with the leaves I picked. I also like the way the rest of it is coming along. I need to get more holly leaves done. Once all that is done, I can do the roses and then the holly. It's getting closer to being done.

After that, I headed over to moms. I picked up the panels that Hildi picked up on her vacation. Mom also had some blocks done. She's been kicking out the star blocks. She was having it rough. One of our family friends is close to passing. It doesn't sound good, and I'm betting he goes in the next couple days. I've even been emotional over this. It seems to be the way things are going around here. Too many passing's lately.

Then it was off to an appointment with Patrick. Came home and I've been relaxing. I played a few games and I'm about done. I think I just want to go to bed. The games are loosing interest tonight. Oh, well.

I'm watching dancing with the stars. Not really watching it, because I'm really just watching the dancing while I play or type. I'm not into TV that much any more. I really wanted to watch the Country Music series. We missed it yesterday, and we are taping the next 3 of them. I really would like to see that more than the other stuff on TV. We watched Big Brother. I'm not sure I'm happy with the way that is going either. But Patrick likes all this stuff. I think when some of the new shows come on that I want to watch, I'll go downstairs.

At least today was a day of Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Hello Sunday

Today I was up early. Just couldn't sleep in.

I enjoyed the morning for a couple hours before Patrick was up. I got going with the laundry but because of the dryer, I was trying to figure out how to get them dry. The dryer is working, just stops when my clothes are damp. I want it to dry the clothes not stop when damp. I think I figured it out, but I'll find out tomorrow. So.....not much got done in the way of laundry.

Then I decided I wanted to work on something. Not sure if I wanted to take my beading out and set it up. I was thinking seriously about that. The table looks good without my beads, but I really do want to bead.....

Then I took one of the bags that Cherry gave me for button bracelets. I made the silver one.

It was my first time doing this. There are somethings that I did wrong, but I will pay better attention to that when I do the gold one.

It's knitted. I like it, but not sure I'd wear it. Not sure even if Katt would wear it. I really did have fun knitting again. I love to do that on occasions. This was something I could in a very short amount of time. I was having trouble getting started. When I finally figured out what I was doing, it went pretty quick. I worked on this while watching the Seahawks WIN the game.  So, it's not something I have to go back to later. I'm looking forward to doing the gold one next.

We then needed to go bowling. I was having trouble...REALLY BAD! I bowled a 119 and was ticked. I started the next game with a strike, which helped. Still didn't help me. I bowled a 136 - but I decided half way through that I needed to stop, slow down, and get back to basics. I hated that I couldn't bowl like I normally do. I'm learning to come off the left side like I used to when I first started bowling at the age of 12. I slowed down and tried harder to relax and aim. That helped me so much! I bowled a 192. I still dropped 4 pins in average - from a 156 to 152. At least I think I have figured out what I need to do. I need to stop rushing it. I was doing that before with the older bowls. They were ones that I had to rush with. This one works good either way.

At least I enjoyed being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting.

One Thing To Another

Today I enjoyed some time to myself. Patrick woke and went downstairs to check on Dan. He decided he was going to leave today. So, we were waiting on him to decide when he was ready to go. I will miss him....actually I miss him already.

We drove Dan home, then stopped at Bill and Sharon's to drop off 2 more quilts and pick one up. I now have one to bind. I just realized I need to pick up the 2 from Dian to get those bond as well.

Our next stop was Costco. The lady there tried to get us to upgrade our membership for 2% back on all our shopping. We told her we would think about it. Actually in thinking about it, for an extra $60, for the year, it wouldn't be worth it. We don't shop that much. We'd be lucky to get $40 back after the year is over. I did the math in the car and was checking to see how it would benefit us. It sounds good, but we don't spend that much money as it is.

Came home and had about an hour before we needed to leave again. We went to Monte Carlo at the bowling alley. We both got our names called for the $42. I missed but Patrick got his. Then we both won $8 more. So, it actually paid for bowling tonight.

I wasn't able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Finished The Top

This morning I actually slept in. Partly because I couldn't sleep last night. Even when I tried to go to sleep at midnight. UGH

I went walking with Cherry after getting up. I also got coffee going for Dan. Before I left, I gave him the coffee and then when I got back gave him the left over pizza.

Then I headed downstairs to get to work on my quilt top. I HATE having to cut the boarders in half. I ended up having to do that on both boarders. I wish people who make patterns would be so kind as to tell me what size the boarders are going to be. Then I would cut the length of the fabric to get the boarder cut and ready for when I'm done. I like to cut the length and not the WTF. Width is a pain, because one ends up wasting more. In this pattern I wasted some fabric. If I had cut the length of the fabric, I could have saved more fabric.

I like the way it came out. The colors aren't really showing right. I'm waiting for tomorrow and get a better picture before I send that photo to QOV for the contest. It has to be in by the 15th and then voting starts on the 16th. I will try and get a full photo tomorrow. May have Patrick take the photo and I'll hold it up.

That was most of my day. I had trouble with the outer boarder because I thought it would go all the way with out a seam......no luck...was 4" short. Took it all out and seamed the boarder. UGH. I will run a stitch around the whole thing after I get the photo done.

It was a good day, and it felt good to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Almost Done With Mystery Quilt

Today I was up and walking with Cherry. I needed to get some walking in.

I'm still helping Dan out, and the good news is that he wants to wait another day before going home. I told him he has no limit to being here and if we needed to pick up stuff for him we would. I kept going down and putting the ice pack on his leg.

I then went downstairs, and got back to working on the quilt. I did have a few calls in-between but I was able to get a lot done.

I worked on it till supper time, then I watched the Democratic debates.....after an hour I gave it up. I hate long debates, and I disagreed with most of them in the panel. I don't know why they want to do so much and then won't tell how we are going to pay for it. So, I went downstairs and got going again.

I was on a roll! Till this happened! And don't tell me you haven't done this before....if you haven't you one heck of a good piecer. I ended up taking this strip apart. It was funny and yet irritating at the same time. I had to take the ends off first and then the 2 strips.

Once that was done, I was able to get back on track. I'm really liking this pattern. May actually do it again.

I thought I was done with the photo above this one. I called it done at this point. I will finish this up tomorrow, with adding the 2 borders that go next. I really like the way this came out. I just hope I get enough votes to help our group win the $100 certificate. The voting will start in a week or so. I just know I have to sent the photo by the 15th, then the voting starts on the 16th to the 1st of Oct. I'll post it. They asked that only one vote be done. Here's hoping!

It's been a long day, got my 7,000 steps in and then some. I'm happy to say it was a day of being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Catching Up Part 3

Okay, the good news is that today I'm finally caught up with my blogging. I need to be paying more attention to getting my blogging done. lol

It was one busy day. I was up, making breakfast for Dan and I. Then cleaning up the mess, unloading the dishwasher.

I played a few games, but every 20 to 30 mins I was going down and putting or taking off his ice pack. He's leg is looking really good.

I did get a chance to go and work on the quilt for QOV. I didn't get a lot done but I did fix my mistake. That's a good thing. Now I can get the last couple blocks done and put it all together.

I was baking bread and making stew for Patrick and Dan. They both liked it. I had something else.

It was then time to go bowling. I bowed a 170, 158, 164. I'm happy with that. I'm getting better and working on the new bowl better. It was one of those weird nights though because only one bowler bowled a 500 series, and the rest of us were in the 400's. At least half or more are better bowlers then that. The other Patrick bowled the 500 and I was 492. We always seem to be close. Patrick didn't do so good, and I beat him in series. He did beat me the last game. Poor guy dropped 10 pins on average and I gained 10 pins. Now my average is 152. It's getting better and I'm working on it.

It was a good day to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Getting Caught Up - Part 2

As I said before, I've been thinking of posting - but it didn't happen. Thinking and typing are two different things. Apparently I can't do both!

This put us to Tuesday this week.

Man, the days are going and I can't remember one day from the next at times. Don't think I've been this busy since the kids (adults now) were kids.

I woke around 9 am. Didn't get to sleep till about 1 pm, so I decided to sleep in. I noticed Dan was still sleeping and let him sleep. I knew he would be tired and would need to sleep when he got out of surgery. They didn't call to tell him he would be earlier, so when he did get up - 11 am - he was getting ready.

Before we left, I took the pieces for the quilt downstairs. I did forget to say I was ripping out my stitches on the quilt at the museum. I got all the seam ripping done before I worked on my embroidery. So, I went downstairs and cut the piece - 1 7/8 to 1 3/8. I had cut it too big and it didn't work. I wasn't smart when I figured it out - because I cut an inch off the piece after I sewed it together. So, the seam ripping was taking out the piece I cut and the piece I needed to cut. Major pain. But I needed to do it. Now I remember why I hate sewing! I sewed part of one together before Dan needed some help.

Dan was getting the TV set up for his gaming. Because of where it is in the house, it wouldn't connect to WiFi. - Yes, I know, we need a new motum (?), but Patrick doesn't want to go and get the upgrades because Comcast will raise the bill and it's high enough right now - so he says. I told him we need to go to the center and get what he wants with a lower bill - we'll see how that goes.

Anyway, back to Dan. I told him to take the TV back to the room his in. The kids had it back there and it worked fine for them. He doesn't watch TV, but plays games. So, I told him have fun. We moved all the TV and his gaming stuff to the bedroom - and I about DIED! There were little nats all over the carpet and in the cracks of the brick!! I ran and got the vacuum and started vacuuming it all up!! I was getting chills doing that - hate bugs!! Got all that cleaned up and we had 10 mins to spare, but then he said they were on the quilts on the bed - UGH, UGH, UGH!! Usually Patrick goes down and gets the room ready for company but I guess he didn't this time! So, I took the quilts and brought them upstairs to wash. I washed one while we were gone.

We left around 12:20 pm and arrived early to his appointment. When we got there, we signed all kinds of papers and then we sat and waited a good hour. He went in and got ready while I waited out in the room. Then they called me in. We sat and waited another 2 hours before they wheeled him in. So, I drove to Safeway and dropped off his meds, then went to City Hall to get my flu shot! Had to wait on Patrick, as he had my paperwork. Got the flu shot and headed over to moms.

Mom and I sat and talked. Then watched some TV. I worked on the embroidery - so glad I took it along.

I got to work on the leaves some more. At least the branches are done. Except for the holy - that I will do last.

It's coming along. If I get moving and get all the leaves done, then I can do the roses and the holy. Works for me.

I waited till 5 pm and then went over to the Orthopedic center where Dan was. I hadn't heard from anyone and it was 2 1/2 hours later. I couldn't believe they didn't call. So, I sat down in the waiting room. The nurse came out about 1/2 hour later, looked and me and questions who I was with. Told her Dan, and she went back in the room. Not a minute later came back out and said, "come on in." So, I did and Dan was sitting in the chair getting out of his sleepy state. I asked what they did, and they thought the doctor had talked to me. Said, no, he hadn't. So, we ended up waiting. Apparently he came out in the waiting room and when I wasn't there, went back in and told Dan what he did. Dan didn't remember any of it! So, we waited for the doctor to come back out and tell me what they did.

Put Dan in the back of the van, drove to Safeway for his meds, then headed home. Patrick got pizza and it was cold by the time we got home. No worries. Patrick helped Dan get down the stairs, and then took him supper.

Poor guy slept all the way through it. He didn't eat by the time I left him, but said he would later. I go down every 20 mins to change the ice pack.

So, I was able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Getting Caught Up - Part 1

I thought about posting....then it never happened. So, I'm going to do this in 3 parts. Starting with Monday and working my way to today.

Monday started out pretty good. I got everything ready to take with me to the museum. I usually don't take something to work on, but this time was different...and a good thing I did!

Arrived at the museum at 9:30 and Greg had already had the place opened up. So, I just walked right in. Usually I have to use the back door to get in.

I love this on the wall!

I had to get a photo of this. I had missed it for over a year. I really love the stain glass work in this one.

At 11 am we had 2 people show - one was a member and the other was a "guest" of the member. So, no charge. They had the museum all to themselves.

So, I pulled out my embroidery and got to work. This was my starting point. While the ladies were looking in the museum, and the UPS driver arrived, I decided to try and do some more damage to this piece.

I worked on the leaves, and I found I like this better this way.

By the end of the day - yes only 3 people showed up - I got more work done on this. I worked on the branches and leaves.

So by the end of the day - 4 pm - I called it quits. Greg said he's opened and closed by himself several times and he would be fine. So, I left.

Got home and got supper going. Then headed over to Nick and Joanne's to drop off Patrick bowling bowl he couldn't use. Nick gave him his. It will be interesting if it works for him. Nick just needs to work on his swing.

Then it was off to pick up Dan at his place. He is staying with us because of surgery. Came home and fixed him supper. He had to eat because he wasn't due at the surgery till 12:45 the next day. We sat and watched TV before calling it a night.

It was a good day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another Day Of Stitching

Today I started out with getting up and then going back to sleep on the couch.

Once I finally got up - I went downstairs in hope of getting the top done.....yeah right. Yesterday was the day when everything went perfectly.....today....not so much!

As I was getting started, Sophie decided she wanted to check everything out.

I got started, and I felt good about sewing.....then I measured the blocks I finished, it didn't come out right, I was on the short side. Not enough to redo it all, but that ticked me off. Then I got the strips going, and I was 1" over the size I needed. So, I trimmed it....NOT smart!.....then I realized the white was 1/2" too big and that's what the 1" was coming from. So, after cutting it and getting it ready, I'm now ripping out the strips. I was taking them all out - then realized I just needed to take the outer strip and trim the white strip 1/2".

Now, I'm hoping I can get back on track! I'll work on this Tuesday or Wednesday. Tomorrow is working at the museum and then going to pick Dan up to bring him home. He's having surgery on Tuesday and I'm taking him. Plus he's staying with us till he's ready to go back home. I figure he will be here a couple days or a little more. I'm okay with how long he stays. He doesn't have anyone, and now he has us.

We went bowling tonight, and I bowled a 171, 144, 153. Not the best, but it's a start. Not sure how we all did because it's the first night of bowling. Wait and see.

All in all, I was "kinda" Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

A Day Of Stitching And Quilting!

This morning started out pretty good. Once I got going, I went downstairs.

I kept thinking of the Mystery Quilt for QOV. There was a message in my email, saying that there would be a contest. It's a voting contest on the Mystery Quilt. So, I decided, "Oh, heck, that would be fun." Not like me, but I thought I would try. I have till the 15th to get the photo sent to them. So.....I went downstairs, picked out the colors, and got started.

This is the pattern, and I'm looking forward to working on this. I got started early.......

Cut, sewed and trimmed. The yellow sticker tells me what blocks they are so when I need to put them together, I have them. I was surprised at how well it was going together. I did find that there is a lot of waste, and I've been trying not to waste my fabrics as I go along. It's working out pretty good. I have a couple pieces of fabric that is pieces and not salvage to salvage. I do with what I can.

I'm hoping the colors go together, and I'm more a bright person. Patrick thought they worked good.

So, I finished up the first 2 Mysteries. I believe there are 5 different steps. The first two were fun because I didn't have any trouble doing them.

Now I'm ready to go to the next step. I was looking at it and decided around 4 pm, that I was done for the day. I'll work on it tomorrow. I would like to have this done soon. If I get it done before I go to Bill's I can get it quilted.

Speaking of quilting.......I pulled out my quilt that I quilted on over 15 years ago. It was done over 20 years ago when I lived in Pullman. Now I live in Chehalis, and this poor quilt has been passed around, laid on by pets, and it even looks like a few spills got on it. So, I only have the border to quilt.....which comes to the point. I took out the corner quilting stitches, and changed the design. I am now quilting on it.

Another project that needs to be completed. Another project that has been on the back burner for over 20 years. When Daisy used it for a bed yesterday, I decided it was time to get this WIP done! I can't keep putting it off. So, I'm quilting the corner of the first of two borders. One day this will be done, and I'm hoping it will possibly be this week. IN MY DREAMS! Of course, but I can try.

We didn't go bowling, so it leaves me to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!\

Quilting With Mom Day

This morning I was able to sleep in - but didn't. I was up and getting laundry done. I knew mom would be here after her appointment. So, I went downstairs and clean up a little.

I laid out the blocks that Georgie game me a while back. This is what I decided on.

Had them all laid out and then Sophie came to mess up the one in the right top corner. She was going under it.

Then I turned around and found this!! She threw the blocks all over the place! Under my sewing table, even.

While I was cleaning up, I found this panel - there are 2 of them!

Mom showed up earlier than I thought she would. I guess she got her appointment time mixed up and when Bob called her to see if she was okay, the decided she would go next week for therapy. She's walking better, but there is still a lot she needs to do.

Mom and Daisy came. We had lunch first and then we went downstairs to get moving on making some quilts for QOV. Mom worked on some Flying Geese while I put the quilt top together.

This the finished quilt top. It's not one I would do, but it's pretty cool. At least all I had to do was put it together. I would rather do the panels. lol

It was an all day thing. It was fun the way we worked together. Patrick brought home supper. He had interviews all day for a replacement. We had a good meal together and then mom and Daisy left.

Now, it's night, and I'm done. At least I was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

One Appointment After Another

This morning we were able to sleep in, but of course, I couldn't. I let Patrick sleep in though. Then I played on my games.  I received ...
