Posting, Stitching, and Bowling

This morning I was up early. Sophie stayed in bed with Patrick.

After Patrick woke, he was getting his canning stuff together. OR so I thought. He couldn't find any of his canning stuff. It was driving him crazy. He called Phil to see if she borrowed his stuff. Nope, so he ended up going to the store to get his canning equipment that he had at one time. He couldn't find the canning pot, but he used the pot that mom gave him for stew. It worked great for his canning sizes. He took the grape juice he had and made jelly. I'm so thrilled to have grape jelly in the house again!!

While he was doing that, I was posting on eBay. I wanted to get stuff done. I have 19 things listed. I noticed there are people watching them. I've also got the "make an offer" sign out there. I'm willing to take any offer just to get rid of this stuff.

I did get a few stitches done on my cross stitching. Only about 100 stitches.

I fixed supper with Patrick's potatoes from the garden. It's purple potatoes and I was laughing as I was cutting them for bowling. I could not believe what they looked like! I had a photo, but my phone won't register on my computer. Guess I used up all the energy on my phone.

Then it was time to go bowling. Even though we won all 4 games, it wasn't because of me. I bowled a 167, 159, 163 - which had me loose a pin in my average. I couldn't get my 7 pins tonight. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't pick them up. That messed my game up something awful!

Tomorrow is another day, and I hope to get back to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

It Was Saturday......

This morning I was up and ready to go. Patrick and Sophie were still sleeping. So, I enjoyed a little time to myself. Which was really nice.

This coming week is going to be busy and I'm really not looking forward to it.

We went to the casino and that was a quick 20 minute visit! Then we headed back home. Patrick worked in the yard, and I worked on all that stuff downstairs. I measured a lot of the fabrics. Then I marked them and got them ready to sell.

eBay - listing

eBay - Listing

There is two of my listings - if your interested.

Between working on my eBay listings, we went to Longview to get supper. We had a good ride down there and a good meal. So, it worked out pretty good.

Came home and listed a few more. Will be listing more tomorrow, I'm sure. It would be nice if I could sell some of this anyway.

I'm trying to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Have You Had A Day Of Not Finding Things? I DID

This morning I enjoyed the chance to sleep in. Trouble was, I couldn't sleep in. Sophie came charging into the room and meowing at me. Guess she expected me to get up.

I got moving on getting the kitchen floor mopped. Sophie had to watch me sweep and mop the floor. Guess she saw something to go after. Who knows. About that time mom called. She wanted to know what I was going to do today. Told her I was going to work on that box I have downstairs. She said she wanted to come over and cut out blocks for QOV. I told her that would be fine.

So, while I was waiting on mom to come, I decided to try and clean up my mess.

Back to another mess. The box of QOV fabrics and the box of cross stitch fabrics. I did post a few on Instagram, but I'm thinking I'm going to post them on eBay instead. I have way too much to be doing on Instagram, and I don't know if anyone really wants them. This way I can try and sell them on eBay and see what happens. Most of the stuff is Zweigart fabrics too.

Mom showed up with Daisy. Sophie had her noise out of joint. Oh, well.

Mom pulled out the half square triangles that I had, and had me put them together. Then she cut out some strips to go around them.

We got 9 blocks out of them. I'm going to put a 4" sashing between them. Then I'm going to use some Coast Guard fabric that I have. I know it will only go to a Coast Guard Vet, but I'll at least have one done.  I may work on that this coming week. Might not, now that I remembered I have QOV on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It's going to be a busy week. I'll try and slow it down some.

After mom left, I worked on some of the fabrics down there again. I cleaned up the QOV fabrics, and looked up to see Sophie.

Really didn't want that to happen. So, I'll have to pay more attention to her getting down there on the fabrics. Think she was getting back at me for letting Daisy come over.

I seriously need to put some of that fabric on eBay. I don't know what I would do with it all. If I can get my money back out of it, then I'll be happy.

After Patrick got home I sat down to work on my cross stitch and my scissor where not there. I couldn't find them. Patrick even helped me look. So, I thought I could go and get my other pair, that I haven't seen in awhile, and couldn't find them either. Now I have two pairs of scissor MIA. My best ones, and they are gone. Patrick was helping me look, for over a half hour! Still not scissors.  I hate the thought of having to buy two more pairs of scissors, or even three, but I may have to do that. Not my day. Mom asked about something, and it took me 20 minutes to find what she wanted. Not my day......ugh.

I did get more done on my cross stitch, so that's a good thing.

At least I was (pretty much) Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching

I Can't Believe What I Did Toda

This morning was getting up and going to collect mom for our quilt meeting. It was the applique group's meeting today. I stopped at McDonald's and got two lg ice tea for our meeting.

I stopped at Art's to help him with his jacket. He had velco he wanted to add to it, because the snaps where not working. So, I got him all set up to be able to wear his coat again. It's one of his favorites and he know I can figure out how to fix things. Then I went to moms.

She wasn't ready to go, but she wanted to go. So, we fixed lunch to take with us. Then we waited on mom to get ready to go. I was there about 45 minutes before she was ready. We went to Rita's shop and met up with the other gals. Some only come once a month. It was good to see them. We had a good meeting and I reminded them about the Quilts of Valor group meeting next week. I hope we have group status by then.

I was able to work on my flower piece. It's the Garden one that everyone did a block for me. Mom was getting her's started and telling everyone that I gave her the harder one of them all. She was not happy that she was working on this. If I had known she would take that attitude I wouldn't have given it to her. She actually wanted to help me out, now she makes it sound like it was a lot of trouble for her to do it.

We stayed till about 1:30 pm. While we were there, a gal called from the Senior's Thrift Shop asking if she knew anyone that did cross stitch or embroidery. Rita said, "Hold on, I'll let you talk to Lynn, she does that." I had no clue what they were talking about. I did talk to the gal, and she told me they got a box of fabric that she didn't want to have to mark to sell. She wanted to know if I knew anyone that would be willing to buy it all and take it from her. I told her I would meet her at the shop, and she said, "No, I have it at my house, can you come over." So, I said I would. I took mom home and headed to her house.

There is yardage of each of the fabrics! There is WAY too much for me. When I got there, she told me she had way too much to price. She wanted me to take everything. I said I would take some of it, but she ended up boxing everything up and giving it to me! I made a donation to the Senior group, and now I need to go through this and sell some of it. I can't use all this! So, if your interested in any of this let me know. I will be posting some of this for sale soon. She told me that the gal in Longview donated all this because she used to own a craft shop. So, there are prices and list of what it is. I'll be working off the prices and cut the price in half if not more. It would be nice to get some of my money back for what I bought. I have more on my table, so this isn't it all.

This is one of the pieces I have. This looks to be about 3 yards worth. I didn't measure but I will tomorrow. There are about 3 different kinds of this type of fabric. Really pretty stuff. I had to get Patrick to bring the fabric in from the car.

After all that, and my brain is telling me to go down and clean my room......I'm still thinking of what I'm going to do with all that stuff! UGH!

I did start working on the sourdough bread. I have it proofing in the kitchen till tomorrow.

So, it looks like tomorrow will be the day for cleaning and getting a few packages ready to sell. I'm going to try on Instagram first, then I'm going to post here. Hopefully someone would like to have some of this stuff at a good price.

In the meantime, stay Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Baked Bread, Cross Stitching, And Bowling

What a day. It started out with baking bread and ended up with bowling. Guess I can call this a success of a day.....at least I can hope it is.

This morning I woke early and enjoyed playing a few games while laying in bed before moving. I only did that for about a half hour, but it still felt good. Sophie really didn't want me getting up. While I was making the bed, she was letting me know she didn't want to move. When I moved her around, she would tuck her head around letting me know she still wanted to sleep. Instead, I made the bed, and then went looking for some good bread recipes.

I looked up my Bread book. Found a couple of recipes that sounded good, but wasn't sure what they meant when I was reading them. So, I went to YouTube and looked up Paul Hollywood's recipes. I watched a couple of his videos. Once I had that down, I pulled out his recipes and got to work. I made the Blooming Bread. It looks awesome.

I started the first one. Then I wondered if it would turn out okay. It didn't raise as fast as I thought it would. So, I started another one. The second felt a little better, but they both turned out great. I was shocked. Yep, shocked, because these were the best breads I'd made so far in my opinion. I'm so proud about these. Texted Scott and told him to come over and get the other one. He did, and it was so funny! He sniffs the bread each and every time. Well this time he got flower on his noise!! It was so funny! I get a kick out of how much they love my bread.

While the bread was cooking, I was working on my Sept part of my SAL.

I put the star in and then had to take it out again. I had it off by one stitch. I was able to get it back in. This is looking good and more is getting done. Felt good to be back to working on this.

Then it was bowling time. We were bowling Barb's team, and she wasn't there. We still won all 4 games. I bowled a 183, 157, 178. So, that made me loose 3 pins on my average. UGH! Patrick gained 7 on his and passed me up!! I was enjoying it that I was ahead of him! What a pain.....oh, well.

Tomorrow is our quilting meeting. Will pick mom up and get going.

OH! Hard to believe I was tracked at walking 9,619 steps. It must have been while I was kneading my dough. lol

Things are good - Plenty of time to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Just Haven't Felt Like It......

Do you have those days? Where you just don't feel like doing any crafts?...Let alone anything else? Well that was my day yesterday.

I didn't feel like doing anything - after I spent 4 hours with Cherry showing her how to load photos to her ancestry page. I also helped her figure out a few things in ancestry. Along with short cuts.

Then I came home, and nope, didn't want to do that. Let's see, what about this?, nope not that either. So, I did work a little on the family history and called it a day.

TODAY -

I was up and went to moms. Today would have been mom and dad's 64th wedding anniversary. So, I wanted to keep her mind off of that. We didn't talk about it today. We went and got some doughnuts for breakfast, then we headed up to Costco. She got some boxes for the slides we need to get put on a disc. She bought a few things she needed and then we came back to her place.

I brought both Daisy and her to my place. Wanted to see if she wanted to work on some quilt tops, but instead we just sat down in front of the TV. I turned on two movies, and she fell asleep through both of them. So, while she was sleeping, I was working on the family history.

Patrick brought home Pizza. Then I went back to working on the family history. Took mom and Daisy home.

He we had another day of not wanting to do anything but genealogy.....what in the world is my problem? I have to get moving on the cross stitch to get this month done!! I better get in gear tomorrow.

I find it funny how I can be going strong, and then the next minute I'm dragging my feet. How I hate that! I'm full steam ahead and then my steam ran out. What a day!

I did get some more information on our QOV group. Think they received the information, and when it gets to the membership gal, then she will let me know. She's the one that sends out our certificate of being a group. I've asked Phil for help on getting our labels designed and ready to order. Faye has gotten a few things back. We need to talk to Bill in Olympia to see if he will do quilts for us. He'll be loosing some donations to him if he doesn't because Faye and I have donated to him at times. Oh, well, we'll seen next week when we go up to our meeting in Olympia.

I'm getting there! Tomorrow, I'm staying home - SOOOO, maybe I'll be back to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

What A Day!

Sophie woke me up around 7:30 am. Guess she didn't want us sleeping in today. She's so used to Patrick being up at 6:30 am that she figured he must be late, I guess. So, I got up and she didn't have much to do with me!

I worked on my games. Then Patrick went out and picked his grapes. I made him wait before he started cooking the grapes for his juice. I made fudge, because Patrick was hungry for it. Chances are it will be all gone by this Thursday, if that. I'll have to think of something to make for dessert later. Not sure what I want to make......

Then I cleaned up my Brazilian embroidery "stuff" from the "Three Wishes."

It's FINISHED!! So, I put my floss and beads away. I then went looking for the next piece I want to work on. I pulled out a rose, but I'm almost thinking I'm going to go get my Poppies instead. I'll think about this.

Sophie was more interested in what was outside.

I then spent the afternoon working on my family history. I was trying to figure out if a couple of the "ALLEN" children were adopted. It doesn't look like it. I looks like they were step children. I even fixed a few things on Findagrave. I asked for a couple people to take care of in my care. I need to add my dad's cousin to Findagrave here pretty soon. Not sure were he will be buried.

Then we went bowling......I actually bowled tonight!! I bowled a 200, 183, 196!! That was a good night. AND we won 3 games with missing Nick! The other team was one short as well, so we were done early. Patrick didn't bowl so good. He bowled a 182, 160, 160, so his average dropped 4 pins to 191. Mine went up 7 pins to 168. I'm a little happier about that.

All in all, I'm staying Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

It Was Another Busy Saturday

Today was one of those days where it was none stop, from one place to another.

We were up and off to Patrick's work. He fixed what needed to be fixed, then we were off to the doughnut shop in Centralia. We both got doughnuts and milk.

We ended up eating them on the way to the casino. Funny thing, we didn't stay longer than 30 mins this time.

Then it was off to the movies where we saw "A Clock in the Wall," or something like that. It was really good Well worth seeing if you like magic and mystery. I was surprised at how much I did like it. Worth seeing.

After that, it was to Safeway for dinner supplies.

Once all that was done, I finally got to finish my Brazilian embroidery piece. I didn't get a photo because I want to get a better one tomorrow. I'll show my finished piece then.

I saw these still on the table. I need to put them in my box tomorrow. I bought these threads on Friday when I went to Rita's. I will always need off white. One is an off white and the other is a yellowish off white. Both will come in handy.

So, today was one of those days, that I didn't get much done in the way of crafts but I did get a lot done today.

Keep your head up and stay Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Day With Friends

This morning I was up and out the door before 8:30 am. Needed to get stamps, so the post office was my first stop.

Then I was off to moms. I picked mom and Daisy up from walking. We went to the house and got ready for the rest of the group to arrive. We were talking when Judie walked in. Scared the crap out of mom and we all started laughing. We had 7 of us today. I quilted on the black and white quilt. Got a little more done. I had to take another hoop with me. I'm throwing the other one out. It's broke in a couple places and doesn't work right.

Bev brought some plastic containers that she was giving away. I took a couple of them. Now I have containers I can fill downstairs. I brought home her big plastic container that has drawers. I thought it had wheels but when I got home, noticed it didn't. Put it in the garage for Patrick if he wanted it.

We had a good meeting. Everyone was chatty that we didn't realize lunch was later than usual. Then I was off to the quilt shop.

I picked up Rita's business card and talked about what we would do for her advertising. We talked about QOV as well. Told her we are still waiting on the approval to be a group. Haven't heard a word just yet. We checked the website and they didn't have us listed yet. So, I'm hoping they would get back with us soon. I really do what to get moving on that.

Then headed to Sandy's work to drop off a couple things and she gave me some eggs.

Back home by 4 pm. And since then, I really haven't done anything. I think of things I want to do, but haven't done it. I'm thinking about being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!! 😏

Got Back To Working On My Hawaiian Quilt

This morning I was up and out the door to moms. Stopped and got us both a Chai Tea. Then went to moms. We then went to "The Gathering Place" to get together with quilters. The funny part was, they forgot to put it in the calendar for the community. So, it was just mom and I, with one other person. We cut out my Hawaiian quilt top, that we worked on before Dad went into the hospital. Actually, now that I think of it, it was while he was in with his knee. So, he never did get to see what we planned for our next Hawaiian quilt. The fabric in mine, is the fabric my father bought me about 10 years ago. It was expensive.

So, we cut out the top Hawaiian. Now we will just need to pin it to the background and baste it so I can applique. That quilt will be for my dad.

Mom had her top ready to cut, but decided today that it wasn't the right color and didn't work on white. Which meant that she needed to get another color. She had green. She pulled out another green that we will need to sew, iron, and fold to get ready for her. The cutting was a pain. My scissors were not very good for cutting 8 layers. Moms scissor were a lot better. I couldn't understand why they didn't work right. Then I realized I have a family that always liked to use them. Oh, well. May get another pair of scissors for next time.

Came home and relaxed for a bit.

I did get to work on the last 3 flowers clusters. I'm happy to say it's now close to being finished. I have to add the beads, and then it's DONE. I love the way it looks. I don't think I've enjoyed a piece as much as I have this one. There were so many different stitches in this that I learned a lot. I love the way it looks.

That's what we call Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Decided To Stay Home

Today I was up early. Sophie and I just laid on the bed and I played on the tablet.

Once I got started, I worked on the laundry. Then I started working on the computer. I was having "issues" with the computer and decided to clean it.....well, we all know how that went.....3 hours later, I could get back to using my computer.

So, while it was cleaning, I was stitching.

I was able to get all but 3 of the flower sets done. I really like the way it came out. At times, I didn't think it looked right, but I waited and looked later. I love the way it came out.

Got a box from Amazon today. Sophie had to check it out. She kept playing with the box. In - Out - In - Out. It was like watching a kid play.

Then she had to sit behind me while I worked on my stitching.

Off to bowling tonight. It felt good tonight. I bowled really good, 188, 205, 171. That got my average - for Wednesdays - a 183. I love that. A good 20 pins better than my Sunday night bowling. Patrick beat me by 1 pin total. UGH

Tomorrow I'll be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

One Of Those Days...Phone Call After Phone Call

This morning I was up at 2 and 4 am. I had to give Sophie TLC. Then, of course, I couldn't go back to sleep. So, when 8 am came around, I didn't want to get up. I really wanted to sleep all day, but was good, and got my rear out of bed.

First thing, the phone ran. It was my cell phone, and of course it was advertising! I hate Advertising on my phone!! I even signed up on the register where they aren't supposed to call me...so much for that registry. I would love to get them to pay for calling me, but I don't want to go through the paperwork and they have to call more than once on the same phone number.

I went to visit Cherry around 10 am. We decided I would go back on Thursday to help her with her family history on ancestry. So, I enjoyed a good chat with her till around 11 am.

Came back home to the phone ringing. This time it was mom. We chatted awhile and she was talking about what we would do tomorrow.

The phone must have rang 7 times today! I couldn't believe it. I was chatting with Rose, Mom, and another friend. So, since my ear was to the phone a lot of the time this afternoon, time flew!

I pulled out my embroidery to work on, but didn't actually get started till later this afternoon. I was working on the laundry and feel great that I'm pretty close to being caught up.

When I did get started on my embroidery, I worked on the pot.

I got going on the pot. I really like the looks of it. Now I'm set to start doing the flowers. Once that's done, then I will have a finished project - and I'm EXCITED to finish another project. This is really pretty. I've even ask Patrick for some help with the color of the flowers.

So, I'm excited about finishing this and staying Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

A Day Of Brazilian Embroidery, Baking, And Beading

Today I was up on time. I wanted to get my sourdough bread kneaded. I also wanted to add roasted garlic to the dough. So, I was busy working on the dough. Once that was done, I was out the door to our meeting.

I arrived right after Pat. She and I were laughing about how we seem to be the "die hards" that show up every time. It wasn't too long after I arrived that the other 4 arrived. It was good to see Jeannette. She's a kick. Bev was there but Sandy couldn't make it because she was canning tuna.

I finished the final flower set. I was so happy to get that done. I'm not as happy with this one, it's a little on the fat side.

Came home and worked on baking. I got my bread in the oven. Then I got laundry going. Once I stopped and took some time to myself.

Then I pulled out a really good recipe and made it.

Love this. It was chocolaty and yummy!! I'm going to make more of this!!

Then I went back to working on my "Three Wishes" piece.

I got the beading going, and now I have the beading on the right side (just out of view). It's coming along nicely. My next step will be the base of the pot. I'm looking forward to getting that going as well. I may get this done yet!

Keeping up with my crafts - enjoying being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Relaxing Day....And Then There Was Bowling

Today I slept in longer than Patrick. That really surprised me. Usually I'm up way before he is. But I put my "blinders" on at 5 am and went back to sleep.

We pretty much had a relaxing day. We watched TV and Netflix.

I made a plum tart today. It had marzipan in it. Patrick went to the store and bought it for me. Then I made the tart. I guess I'm still one of those that doesn't like fruit pies, and having this as a tart wasn't any better. I really didn't care for it, but Patrick liked it. Guess he's got his desserts for now.

Then I sat down and watched TV and Netflix with Patrick.

Was able to get more done on this piece. I'm getting closer to finishing up this months. Then I can go back to the other piece. I was enjoying this. It's going along great. I really haven't fun working on this. I love how it comes alive as I go. I really haven't had too much trouble with following the pattern and I haven't had to rip out a ton - LATELY.

Then it was time to go bowing. We did pretty good, but I didn't do well at all! One of these days I will figure out what I'm doing wrong. You'd think being left handed it wouldn't be a problem, but that is an under statement. I bowled a 144, 162, 170. So, I dropped another pin on my average - which was 161. Now it's 160. UGH I just couldn't seem to hit the pocket. I hit my mark, some of the time! Then when I didn't hit my mark, I would do better. I moved a board here and there. No such luck. No matter what I did, I couldn't get in the pocket.

Came home and got my sourdough kneaded and ready to raise overnight. I'm thinking of adding garlic to it in the morning. I'll roast it before I head to embroidery.

Tomorrow is another day.

I have been worried a little about my friends in NC. Sherri Fields (another blogger too), is in NC and in the line of the hurricane aftermath. I hope and pray she is safe. I hope and pray they didn't get hit too hard. That area is where my ancestors are from. I hate to see all that destroyed after all these years. Best wishes and prayers to all who live in the flood zone. I have my brother's godfather living there too. I think of him often.

We all need to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

A Busy Saturday

Today I was ready to go when Patrick wanted to go. He doesn't like sitting around on the weekends, so I really don't get much done on the weekends. When I do, I'm jumping for joy! Oh, well.

We headed to the casino. It was one of those days for me....I was winning the big wins. I won $150, $750, and some of the $60 wins. We came home with more then we took. It was a good day. I got a bonus when we were done to the last spin amount. We had 10 cents left when I hit the bonus. Then I won $120, so we pulled out of that.

One the way home, I was thinking we could pick up an ice cream cone and then later to go Red Lobster in Longview. So, much for my way of thinking. lol - Patrick had me call mom and see if she wanted to go down with us. She did. He said, "Good, tell her I'll get gas and then we will be there." No ice cream - was my thinking. I was right. We picked mom up and headed down to Longview. The food was good. I really enjoyed it. Brought home some leftovers. Mom didn't order much. We told her she could get what she wanted and take some home. She said no, she was fine. She'll really starting to loose a lot of weight, but the good part is, she's eating good. Dad always eat all day long, and I think she did too. She's looking good.

So, now we are home and going to watch TV. Netflix is great, so we will be watching that. I'll pull out my cross stitching and enjoy the evening. I'll have photos tomorrow for what I get done. I did work on it last night, but didn't take a photo.

I hope this find you all well and enjoying your day. Best wishes, and stay Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Enjoyed Baking Today

This morning I was up early and played a few games. Sophie was trying to tell me to go back to sleep. She laid there while I made the bed.

I decided I wanted to make some Ciabatta bread. I pulled out the recipe and worked on getting it started.

Once it raised the first time, I put it on the sheet to rest again. I was happy with the way it came out. Not as many air holes that I thought it would be. lol

I baked them. I love the way they came out. I was watching how to do a good loaf of bread. This turned out awesome. I really love working on bread. Now I'm checking the different kinds and trying them out. I like the English Muffins and I like these. So, I will be making these again.

If you lived around here, you could have some of my bread. I share it with neighbors.

I worked on Patrick's family history. I added a few more names to his JOHN, VAIL families. I really am having a hard time with his GYPP, NILSSON families. I think I have the wrong NILSSON group.

Now I'm going to try and get some cross stitching done. It's time to get back to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Met With Quilt Group

This morning I was out the door to meet the group at the Veterans Memorial Museum to give them the quilt that we all made. There was about 10 of us there. It went good. I introduced everyone to Chip. Then we gave him the quilt. JoAnn asked a lot of questions, like "What are you going to do with the quilt?," "Do you get a lot of quilts?," and the answer to the second question was that they only got one about 6 years ago. It raffled for $300-400. Of course, Sharon made a comment about $300 wasn't enough because it cost more than that to make it. (Uncalled for).

Then I went to moms to pick her up and go to the meeting. Got there and mom really wasn't in the mood to go (neither was I). So, we decided to stay and have lunch there. After lunch we worked on marking her quilt for Phil. She's quilting Phil's quilt now. Zac's quilt was mailed out to him yesterday. So, she's getting the the family quilt tops quilted. It's going pretty fast.

Mom's quilt frame came in yesterday and I took it to her. We pulled it out of the box and it was what she wanted. Good thing because it cost her $75. Not a bad price for it. $32 was shipping costs. So, considering, she really did get a good deal. Yet, today most people don't do hand quilting.

Came home and took a nap. Had a headache all day long and it was getting pretty bad. The peanut butter I had yesterday disagreed with me all night last night and I woke with a headache. What a pain. So, took a nap, but that really didn't help much.

Pulled out some family history and started working on that again.

I had to contact QOV because the group name I asked for needed to include "Memorial." I wasn't thinking when we put the name down and realized that when I got the Museum today. I was sent the logo from the Museum and now I'm in the process of trying to get some labels made for our group. I'm hoping to be a group by Monday, so we can get moving on this.

I'm looking forward to Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Working On QOV Projects

Today I was up and decided to get moving on getting my sewing room set up. You know, when the quilt room is really clean. Then I have to go down and set everything up to get started. So, I pulled the sewing cabinet out and got the sewing machine set up. Then it was pulling out the fabric. Of course, the QOV fabric was easy to find.....but not what I was working on BEFORE I cleaned up my sewing room.....so it was trying to remember where I put the blocks that where already done. Yep, that took some doing!! Then I finally found them.

Now it was time to get started. Of course, Sophie didn't have a clue that I sewed. So, she was like a race horse through the downstairs and upstairs. She didn't know what to think. She was playing all over and checking everything out. I was laughing half the time the way she was going.

I had  more to cut into these pieces. Once I got some of these put together.

Then I cut a few more to make more of these blocks. As you can see, the first block turned into this block. I had several already done, so I had to start from the beginning on the ones I worked on.

These are all the blocks that I had done. I added 6 more blocks to this pile. I need to sew them together after I get a few more done. I will also be moving them around before I sew them together. I like the way it's coming along. I also have another idea for another top. This will be my first top that will go for the Veteran's Museum group. I have another idea for another one. It should be a good start and we can have a couple done in good time. I just have to wait till we get the fabric for the back and batting.

I called it done around 3 pm. Then I got a call from the State asking about the complaint I filed with them in regards to dad. I told her I thought it was done, and she said that was DSHS, and she's with the physicians complaints. So, this is going against the doctor. I emailed her the name of the doctor and the papers that came out of DSHS. That may help.

Patrick got home. So, after supper we were off to the bowling alley. It was time to bowl. The other team didn't show up, so we were done early. I bowled better than Sunday, but not as good as I can. I bowled a 162, 173, and 199. Both weeks I bowled a 199!! Just couldn't get that 200. Oh, well. I dropped 4 pins in my average. I'm okay with that. Not sure if we won any games till the other team bowls.

It was a good day all in all. I am having fun with Sophie. She's a kick! Tomorrow is the quilt that goes to the Veterans Museum. Our group wanted to take the quilt, so it's a group thing. Then I'll pick up mom. Her quilt frame arrived today, so will take that to her.

What a day. I'm glad to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Meeting To Get A QOV Group Here In Lewis County

This morning I enjoyed the morning to myself. I thought about what I SHOULD be doing, but didn't do it. You know those days when the ideas and plans are there, but not in the mood to do it. Well, that was me.

It was time to meet Faye at the Veterans Museum to see if we could have our meeting and celebrations of QOV there. It was an awesome meeting. Chip was game from the beginning! I was so thrilled he liked the idea of having us give the quilts out to Veterans. He said he even has a place were we can hold the quilts till it's time to give them out. We have some in the Olympia group that are from this area, and we will get that list from the National Foundation. Faye and I filled out the form and I've got it going in the mail tomorrow. We should be a group by next week. We will be having our meetings once a month at the Museum. There we will decide on how many quilts we have, who's to be awarded, and hopefully we will get more members so we can get more done. We need to get donations, but we don't want to take away from the Veterans Museum. We'll work on it. I think we can get some for a couple businesses. So far there are 3 of us in the group. Not sure who the third one is, but hopefully we will have more. We are excited and talked about what we can do for the labels and getting the fabric for the backs and batting. We're on our way. The first meeting is Oct 3rd, at 10:30 am.

Then I went to see how mom was doing. She was upset about something that happened and I went over after to see if she was doing okay. She talked to hubby and he calmed her down. Nothing major but it could have been if things were different.

I got home around 3 pm and then I worked on my bookkeeping. Once that was done, Patrick was home and I didn't do any crafts today. I'm okay with that. Life does get in the way. So, in the meantime, I can dream of being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Getting Caught Up.......

This morning I was up shortly after Patrick left. I had a phone call. I called the number back and it sounded like a kid - so guessing they dialed the wrong number and he/she was calling his/her parents. Wasn't too thrilled to get a call that early but all's good.

I called Faye about going to the Museum tomorrow to see if we can get a group for QOV in there. That way we won't have to go 45 mins once a month to a meeting. Plus we can get more personal down here. The group up there was getting too involved in group projects and not individual. I need to get back to sewing again. I'll have to try that this weekend, if Patrick doesn't have a ton of stuff for me to do or go.

This week is a quiet week - or so I thought. I do have our meeting on Thursday were we will be donating the quilt to the Museum. I'm looking forward to that.

I got caught up on my laundry...finally.

I worked on this, and then realized I was a stitch off, so I ended up taking it out. Guess I don't know how to count to 4! I couldn't believe it was that hard to try and count to 4 and not 5. Oh, well, out came the frog to rip out all the stitches. At least the floss was still good, so I could reuse it.

So, I fixed that and got a lot done. I worked on the bottom part, and got the "summer" area almost done. I have another piece to add to it, and then that is done. I found a few stitches missing in a couple areas and then I got moving on the newer stitches. It's looking awesome. I really like how easy it is and how fast it goes. Of course, Sophie had to come and sit in my lap, so I had to take a little break to give her TLC. She seems to want to be in my lap when I pull out my cross stitch to work on. This piece is in a bigger frame, so it is harder to put her under it. Oh, well. Love my cat!! And my cross stitching!!

Patrick had a City Counsel meeting today, so he came home later. I was able to get more done, so I was happy! (Just don't tell him that!)

This keeps me going and Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

A Day of Bowling!

This morning I was up early and was able to play a few games before going to meet up with Kim.

Picked Kim up just off the freeway, and we headed down to Longview. We talked about her dad and my mom. It was a quick trip actually with just chatting about this and that. We arrived at Longview a little early because of the meeting before Travel League bowling. Our team was the only one team that had another team to bowl. The other three teams had vacant or the other team pre-bowled. So, we took longer to get done. I bowled a 148, 135, 165 leaving me with a 149 average - grrrr. I couldn't bowl worth my salt!! It too me a while to figure out what I needed to do. Then funny part, is that all 5 of us were very close is not bowling worth spit! So, when we meet next month, I'll be the first to bowl (lowest average), Theresa will be under me, (we are usually 3rd and 4th), Kim will be 3rd and she's usually last. So, we are really mucking up the schedule. We all just laughed! I did win two of my games I believe.

Came home and tried to get a few of my games caught up. Then it was off to Fairway Bowling lanes.

I didn't bowl any better!! I got a 130, 203, 148 - So, I could bowl good, but I mucked it up with two games in the toilet! Too funny. Kim said she bowled worse than me. lol - Neither one of us could bowl tonight any better than this morning. At least I got a 203 game.

So, no crafts today. I'll work on it tomorrow That will be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Another Double Day

Yesterday started out with quilting at moms. There were 5 of us. I was able to get more quilting done on Katt's black and white quilt. It's about half way now. I'm really excited about getting more done.

I left moms around 2 pm. I had to stop and get some stuff at Walmart. I bought Sophie some dishes for her food. Then I also go a bug for her to play with. She loved it!

Patrick made it home and then we were off to the casino. The good news is that we made some money. Then we went to the Dwight Yoakam Show. It was really good. I like the show before his. Then when he showed up, the sound was so loud!! Patrick gave me some kleenex to fill my ears in. It helped, but not near as much as I needed. I felt so funny after the show, my ears were still reeling because of the loudness. It took a good 10 mins before I felt normal again. I try not to get too close to a lot of loud sounds.

We went out to eat before hand. It was really nice. I guess we can call it "date night."

Today I was up around 6:30 am - would have loved to sleep longer, but just couldn't. So, got up and played a few games while I waited on Patrick to get up.

I got a call from one of my QOV gals that lives down here. She agrees with me, that we need to get a group down here. We both were bothered by the last meeting. We want to get a group going down here. So, I chatted with her and said I would send an email to the Museum to see if they would let us meet there and work with them on getting the Veterans honored. I'm hoping he will be willing to talk to us.

I spend the afternoon putting "coke rewards" in. I needed to get rid of the lids and the paper codes that I had. It was a box full, so it took me about 3 hour to enter the codes for the two schools. I put some codes toward Centralia Christian School and Clarkston High School. Katt asked me to put them to Clarkston and not WF West in Chehalis. So, I honors her wishes since she game me some of the codes.

I got to work on the Sept cross stitch. I had to find my other pattern, because I missed a couple things on the last piece. So, I went back and finished what was missing and I worked on getting more done on this months.

So, you can compare what I did with these two photos. I have the basket done, but have to add a few things around it. I'm bringing the border down, to be able to finish off the summer block.

Sophie dumped one of my plants, so we had to clean it up. Then we removed the plant from the living room and put it in one of the other rooms she doesn't go into without us. At this rate all my plants will be in their own rooms. She's playing with my big plant by the door, and when I wake up in the morning, I find leaves and stems all over the place where she's been playing with it!! GRR. So, I'm trying to limit her getting to my good plants. I can hope! The fun part now is to remember that's where my plants are.....ugh.

I'm having fun. I'm enjoying this weekend. I have bowling twice tomorrow. I'm driving down to Longview. So, I won't be able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Had A Day To Myself For A While!

This morning I enjoyed being able to sleep. I didn't have anyone to bug me and I didn't have to be on a time frame. Love that!

So, I got a few things done. I cooked another apple sauce. It turned out really good. And it was even better for supper.

I did work on my cross stitching, and even pulled a WIP out to work on.

I pulled out my 4 Season's to work on. I wanted to get going on it. So, I started working on the parts that I didn't do a couple months ago. I'm getting a lot of it done as I go. I'm loving how easily it is coming along.

I did work on the Stitcher's Sampler - which my phone won't let me pull off just yet.

So, I'll tell you from this older photo what all I was able to do. There is the square part on the left, and that's the label. I have all but 2 rows done of off white in it. I'm happy with the way it's coming along. I realized I couldn't even try my stair steps with this, because it was already started (over 10 years ago) and I'll just have to work off what I have done and go from there.

I even had to go and get a flu shot this afternoon - not my favorite thing to do, but I did. Patrick and I went at 4 pm since work is giving them out. I'm sore!!

Tomorrow is quilting at moms and then we are going to a D. Yokum cancert. (Can't spell his first name). I'm not all the found of him but Patrick is. We will have a good afternoon together before going to the concert.

I'm looking forward to quilting more tomorrow. Didn't think I would be that excited about quilting on that quilt, but I am.

Guess what!! I guess that makes me Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

Bowling Started Today!

This morning I was up and out the door to moms. I arrived, and she wasn't home. 5 mins later her and Daisy walked up to the house. I played one of her games while she was walking. She told me Daisy saw the car and decided to come home faster. Mom was worn out from walking the dog.

We got the recipe going for Baguettes. We had a good time. They turned out awesome!

They turned out awesome! I couldn't believe how good they turned out.

While I was there, I worked on Katt's quilt.

Turned it over to see how much I had quilted. I am almost half way done. I really like the way the back looks. Notice Daisy trying to get mom to pick her up?!

It's coming along great!!

Mom is about done with her quilt for Zac. She's putting the binding on and then it's done.

Came home afterwards and put in the sourdough bread. It also turned out awesome! I love how great my breads came out! It was so much fun.

Then it was time to go bowling. Funny part was we were the last time to finish and it wasn't all that late. I bowled a 199, 184 and a 171 - giving me a 184 average. Woo Hoo!! Brought my bowling ball back because I will be starting Sunday. We have travel league starting up. I'm driving to Longview this time. I'm looking forward to it. I even beat Patrick tonight! I beat him by about 30 pins in total. I need to keep that up!!

The new year is starting for bowling, and I'm almost ready to get going......  Let's hope this year is better than last year! Missed not seeing dad there. It was hard talking about dad tonight with Denise. I can't seem to talk about him without crying a little.

Hoping my angles are watching over me, and helping me stay Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

QOV Meeting Day

Today I was up early and ready to go.....or I thought. I looked up at the time and had 45 mins to get to Olympia. That didn't include stopping at the bank to deposit some money....

So, I arrived right on time! I was able to find a seat and was surprised at how many showed up today. Then I realized they were presenting 2 quilts today. That was hard on me. I cried through both of them, remember dad. Both of the men who got the quilts, had served from 21 to 30 years in the military....just like dad.

We talked about how many quilts we needed and what needed to be done. We also talked about limiting where they will be doing the presentations. One gal moved that Thurston County would be the priority. If that's the case, I'm not really thrilled about that, because I live in Lewis County and would like to see more quilts given out around here.

I called Rita when I got home and asked her if she would be willing to get a National group started at her shop. Trouble is we would need to work with the Veterans Museum and see if we could do the presentations there That would make things a lot easier. I'm not sure how many people will be interested in having one here in Lewis County though.

I got my sour dough going. This is a Paul Hollywood recipe and it takes longer to raise. This is going to take a 5 hour raise and then another 8 hours. So, I figure I can get it started tonight and then I can let it raise over night. I can let it raise again from the morning.

I got a few more stitches in last night. I had to take a few stitches out, because I had the same color in two places. I hate the "Aqua" and "lt. teal" because they are so close in color and it gets hard to remember which is which. So, I'm having to try and figure it out. There is an area on the bottom left that I need to redo, but I'm going to leave it and see if it's that noticeable. I started working on the off white tag. So, I'm hoping to get that done as well. I know I need to get moving on the other piece. Maybe this weekend, because I really want to get moving on this.

So, I'm still cooking and Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Movie Day

Today I was able to sleep in, after I made Patrick shut his phone off. He has reminders on Monday that start at 7 am! He sets it for his meetings on Monday. He didn't want to go shut if off, but I told him before he came back to bed to go shut it off.

After enjoying sleeping in, I was up and ready to go. We went to the movie "Stinking Rich Asians." I saw JoAnn from quilting there too! It was really good  A love story, and there were only 2 guys in the theater! lol

When I got home and after I got the laundry going again, I started back on the cross stitching. I'm now at the corner, and I want to work off the corner to get back to my stair step method. It will be hard to do, but I'm going to try. May get the bottom done yet! I need to get back to the 4 Seasons, and get that done for the next months piece. I may put this away for a little bit and work on the 4 Seasons.

So, today was a quiet day but good day We took a drive through the country on the way back from the movie.

Keeping my head up and still Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!!

Spent The Day With Mom At Our House

Today I really, really, wanted to sleep in. I got to for a little bit....and then the phone dings with a text!!! Oh, and more came as the time went on.  Which means I needed to get up. Annndddd I really wanted to sleep.

I was up and getting a few things picked up. I noticed the house was really looking bad and mom was coming over. So, I started laundry and got a few things done. Then I worked on the Danish Pastries.

I forgot to take a photo after they came out of the oven. This is 2 of the ones that didn't get eaten. lol I made cream and put a tablespoon of Patrick's blackberry jam in it. It turned out good. I need to refine my craft, but I'm going to work on.

Mom was over. She got her around 1 pm. We watched movies, had supper and enjoyed the day. I worked on my cross stitching.

I got a lot of the quilt done - which I just realized is not showing in this picture. Too funny! Anyway, I got a lot done on the left side of this photo. I'll just have to pay more attention when I take a photo again.

I did print out the Sept piece on my "4 Seasons" piece. I will work on that later this week. Really want to get more done on this piece.

Sophie and Daisy just stared at each other when Daisy came over. It was really funny, Sophie got her back up and Daisy went to hide behind mom. They kept an eye on each other but didn't get close. So, when mom and Daisy left, Sophie sniffed everywhere Daisy walked. Sophie is a little miffed at us right now, she hasn't been wanting to sit with us. It's really comical.

Tomorrow is another day, and I'm looking forward to working on my being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Not Sure What To Say.....

Titles are running low in my head. I can't think of new titles as I go.

Today we were off to Costco first thing. I wanted to be back in time to work on my "Danish Pastries" for tomorrow. We got a few things and then came home. Of course, it's the first of the month, so Patrick wanted to go grocery shopping...ugh. I don't trust him on his own to do the monthly shopping, so I go along. I get a lot of month of stuff I think we need, but I get it anyway.

Came home and unloaded for the second time.

Then I was making some tomato sauce from the tomatoes in the garden. Patrick spiced it up really good. It's been cooking all afternoon.

While that was cooking, I started the Danish Pastry. I've got it going and now it's resting in the frig till tomorrow. Then I'm going to make them into cones. I have a cone shape that I'll use tomorrow. I also have another idea for some muffin like pastries. I'm hoping they come out right. It's hard to tell because this is my first one.

I then started writing some of the letters we have. I need to add more to the "Letter from the Past" blog. I added 4 more. Trouble is, I keep coming across people asking about mom and the family. We were in Germany at the time....that does bring back good memories. On top of that, my younger brother is now in Germany today. They are on vacation. Too much coming across my head for memories. They get me emotional.

Life is good. Looking forward to being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitches!

Enjoying Embroidery Today

Patrick went golfing and I got a few things done before Sandy came over. We decided to get together today even though the others couldn'...
