Spending My Birthday With Mom

Today I was up and out the door. I needed to go to Safeway and then see Phil before I headed to moms. I stopped and got a sausage biscuit from McD's. Then I picked up my free drink from Dutch Brothers. I arrived at moms before everyone else and I was just on time.

Georgie was the only one that came today. Gerilyn is in OH and Sandy V had a few things to do. So, it was just the three of us till about 12:15 pm. We worked on trimming the quilt blocks that they are putting in a quilt. It will probably be done later today.

Mom and Georgie were "learning" how to square up the quilts. Georgie was helping mom in this photo.

After Georgie left, we finished with the squaring up and then left for Bill & Bee's in Centralia for a hamburger and root beer float. Once we finished eating, we headed to Rochester for mom's plants she wanted to put around the house.

We went to Lael's Garden Center and mom was having fun. She asked the gardener what he would suggest, and he told her of several bushes that won't grow too tall.

She decided on the English --- bush. It works there. Now she has to get them to plant it for her.

Mom bought 3 of these. They are going in those pots next to the garage and another by the front door. They are pretty. And they won't grow too tall. She paid for them by the "how old" they were.

After I brought her back to her place and took the plants out, I headed to Colleens to give her another quilt. Then she gave me one back. I got one from mom's, so I came home with two more quilts done. After I left her place, I went to Safeway for my Birthday cake and some ice cream. I bought a "Black Forest" cake. Got milk for Patrick as well.

Came home to find some flowers waiting for me.

Phill not only gave me flowers, but they also gave me a gift card as well. Emily keeps Phil up on dates to remember! lol I love them.

Before we had supper, Colleen showed up to pick up some material to get some pillowcases ready for Wednesday. We have our sew day then and she's getting the pillowcases ready for sewing. We need to get more pillowcases done since we are running out.

After she left and dinner was over, I was beat. I sat in my chair and played my games. I figure working on the blocks mom had would count for being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Embroidery Day - But Not Really

This morning, I was out the door and headed to moms.

Today is BE at moms. But since neither Geralyn or Sandy came, it was just mom, Georgie and Bonnie. So, I really didn't feel like working on anything, just chatted.

Mom and Georgie were working on this quilt top. It was an argument about who said what. After putting the quilt on the floor, it was decided to scrap what we were arguing about and put the quilt together like this. The difference of what it will look like - is where the red and blue borders are. Blue will be the top and right side, while the red will be the left and bottom. It will have a zig zag affect.

We also worked on the 250th panel quilt with ideas of how to put it together. Since they still have the panels for sale, we decided to order 4 more for Veterans Day. I will give another one to them to work on as well.

Came home. Was listening to my book on tape and playing my war games. I wanted to just relax - as if that's what I was doing earlier. I just couldn't figure out what I wanted to do today. It wasn't in my thinking box. So, I didn't. But I was helping mom and Georgie with their quilt designs. So, I guess you can say I was TRYING to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Physical Therapy And Moms

Today, I had PT at 3 pm. So, first thing today, I cleaned. I got the kitchen cleaned and in order, vacuumed the house, and worked on laundry.

Then I went out for a walk. Once all that was done, Patrick came home from golfing. I played on my tablet for a bit and then had to head over to the church to pick up 3 quilts that were ready. Once all that was done, I headed to moms. Dropped the 3 quilts off with her and Debbie's quilt to see what we could do. Mom was going to bind the 3 quilts and try to see if hand quilting would work on the quilt.

Then we played with some of her blocks.

We had this at first, then started to move blocks around.

Didn't like what we had, so moved more blocks around. We tried again for 2 more trys.

Then ended up with this. it was a process that take time. But we were able to get this far. Mom started pinning the blocks together in rows so she would know how to sew them together. It's a start and it's another quilt that will be done.

I headed to PT for my last appointment. We pretty much chatted about my progress and he's sending a report to my primary doctor as well as my sports medicine doctor. I'm not crazy about the sports medical doctor. He just wasn't much help.

Stopped and got chicken at Safeway. A guy next to me asked if "you have breasts" and the gal answered, yes, I do. We broke out laughing and the poor guy was more shocked than anything. He didn't laugh and he acted as if he didn't get it. We did. Then he pointed to the chicken and said, I meant this. She just laughed and said, "I know what you meant," still laughing.

Came home and it was late. So, I didn't pull anything out to work on. I will try and do that later this week. I really do need to get moving on what I have!

At least I can say, I was with mom who was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Amazing What I Can Do, When NOT Playing Games

This morning, I was all ready to go to the grange for the last time to visit with Gerilyn. About an hour before I needed to leave, she called to say she has strep throat. So, I ended up cancelling the meeting. She's looking forward to meeting at moms, and it will make it easier for her mother to join us as well.

Since Patrick wasn't going golfing (would start till 10 am because of the cold weather) and I couldn't go to the meeting, we headed up to Olympia for our blood tests. I had to do a "pee" test as well. OMG! I have one heck of a time with the urinary tests!! TMI, I know, but I was able to get enough! lol Now that that was over, we headed to Costco!

OMG! (yep again!) The parking lot was FULL. Took us a good 5-10 minutes looking for a parking spot. We ended up way out there. I took my walking stick while I was there. I believe I got my walking and more in today by going there. We were there to pick up the pecan pie, cookies (yep he ate most of the first tub I bought last week), and a few other things. The pre-scanned our order and it was so easy when we got to the counter. Patrick wanted a pizza slice. UGH So, I ended up getting the hot dog. I'm getting tired of the hot dog! But I really wasn't in the mood to sit and watch Patrick eat his pizza. I wanted to come home and make a sandwich with my crab salad. Oh, well.

We got home and unloaded. After all that work, I decided I better get my emails out letting the veterans know it will be about 6-9 months before we can honor them with a quilt. I ended up marking several as priority between active members and those who served in 1950-1960. Debbie told me we have a WWII veteran that will be at the WWII dinner. It's on the 7th, so we will end up going to honor him. I need to see who else can make it. I had to stop working on the emails so Patrick could "zoom" with one of his doctors.

While he was chatting with his doctors, I was beading. Like I said, I needed to get these done!

I am close to getting this done. I listened to my book on tape.

OMG!! While I was listening to my book, Patrick started talking to me. I had to stop my earbuds and listen. A few minutes go by and I turn it back on. THEN he starts talking again! This went on for a good hour!! I know he knew I was listening to my book, and he was testing me to see if I was listening to him as well. It's a pain in the butt when you have to click the book off, wait and listen, then when he stops talking, click it on, to have him start talking again!! I was getting so irritated by it! It took me a good 2 1/2 hours to finish the last hour of the book! I wanted to tell him to shut up, but then he would give me crap about my listening to my books. Can't win that battle. Try beading and going through that! I had to stop beading to click on and off.

I had to get the quilts ready to go to the museum tomorrow. So, I labeled the following quilts to get them to the museum tomorrow.

This was one of the quilt kits that Martha Day did.

This came from the Tri-Cities QOV.

Mom did this one and it's HUGE. We will need to find a big veteran for this one.

This was a group quilt. I did more, but it looks like I forgot to take a photo of them.

With the day going so well, it felt good to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Spending Time With Mom

Today I was up early. Had to get moving for my Physical Therapy appointment. It was at 9 am, so I wasn't used to being up at 7:30 am anymore. I tend to be up around 8-9:30 am. It was different.

I spend the hour working on my walking down the hall. I had been poked as well. But it felt good after. I forgot my stick and wished I had taken it.

Afterward, I went to moms. We worked on the 4 1/2" squares she had. She's been making more 9-patches, but I can't figure her out lately. She was really good about picking colors for quilts and how to organize them. But she was putting all blue in the 9-patches. Then she wanted to put a busy color for the squares between. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I told her to go through the stack and put the same fabric together for the 5 squares and then add the 4 whites. I went through her stacks. We both matched them up. I can't believe how much we matched up! She's got enough for at least 5 quilts. Then we took a break about noon and had lunch. Once that was over, I headed home. I had to stop at the post office, then Safeway. I forgot why I went to Safeway and had to turn around and go back once I got home. Then when I was at Safeway, I found I had to wait. I decided I wasn't going to wait and headed home. Just as I was leaving, I had a text from Rita that the Gala quilt was done. So, I stopped at the church and got it. Then came home.

I played on my tablet today. I was just tired of running around and by the time I got home it was 3:30 pm. I decided I didn't want to do anything if I didn't have to. I did enough for the day. I listened to my book as I played. I finished it, and decided I would listen to the last book before going to the other books I have on loan. The books seem to keep my interest lately.

Now it's bedtime and I still wasn't Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Getting Ready For Our Garage Sale

This morning, Patrick went to his PT appointment, and I was visiting with mom. I got to see the photos of my great nephew. He's adorable! He's also a year old now.

I was checking out mom's applique she did for Bob's grandchild. I love what she did.

It brought out the colors when she outlined it in black. I will work on mine later. It's so cute!!

Georgie got her duck done. But now she has to do the embroidery. It's cute too, but I bet the outlining will make it pop! This is fun!

We then went to the Oakview Grange to unload all that fabric we picked up at Colleen's yesterday. It didn't take long to unload. I wasn't doing good with my hip and back. So, I didn't move much. Took the lightest stuff to bring in. I told Colleen I was going to unload today, come back tomorrow to set up and then be there all-day Friday and Saturday. I reminded mom that we needed her and Nancy both Friday and Saturday.  We are in the middle area this time.

We stopped at Safeway to get a few things for supper and whatever else we needed. Then we came home, and Patrick unloaded. I couldn't.

I worked on my beading for a bit.

I was able to work on my beading for a bit. For some reason, I'm just not there yet. YET AGAIN! I need to get this going and I'm stalling. UGH I may take it with me to the garage sale to work on. I don't know. I have a game going at 1 pm Friday and want to play in it, so I'm not sure how that will work. May have to take my tablet. UGH

So, today was no excuses, at least I made it a point to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Was Busier Than Planned To Be

Yep, back to having my plans messed with. I know better - and yet, I still try and plan things.

I had physical therapy which took an hour. I got his business card to give to Carmen since she wanted his number. I then stopped at Nancy's think it would be a drop off and go. Yeah, NO! Debbie called asking where I was. Told her I was with Nancy. So, she said she would be there in a few minutes to drop off candy for the fair. She arrived, we chatted and then I had to figure out how to get it to the fair. DANG! Mom was going on Tuesday. SO, I stopped by to drop off the candy. Yeah, that didn't work. Mom wanted me to help her with another quilt top. So, I had to go out to the car and turn it off. So much for a quick stop. We worked on the half square triangles she has. Then she said she needed the triangles back that I have.  Told her I would get them to her. Not today.

I then left to go to Panda for lunch. I decided I wanted their food. They told me I would have to wait for the chicken, about 5 mins. I said, no don't want to wait. Then the other chicken would be 2 min wait. Fine! By the time they got to it, both were ready, and I didn't really get what I wanted. Came home around 1 pm and sat to have my lunch. There is left over, which is fine with me.

I was so tired by then; I took a nap for an hour. They played on my tablet. Didn't get anything done. Sandy texted to see if I wanted to go to the bead store tomorrow in Lacey. I told her sure. We will be going in the morning. So, the afternoon I should be good. I had a game in the morning and another one around 1 pm which looks like I might not make it. UGH. We will see.

Mom called to say she finished this quilt. So, there is another one I need to put the border on. At this rate, that's all I will be doing for a while. I need to get down there and put the borders on so they can be delivered on Monday. If not, it will be another week before I get them to Colleen. If mom keeps going, I may have 5 to deliver.

So, my plan for today was go to my PT, get lunch at Panda, and come home. Then I could go downstairs and work on one of the borders. Yeah, right. Not one border was put on and I wasn't Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Early Physical Therapy And A Visit With Mom

I had to be at the physical therapists by 9 am today.  Patrick headed to go golfing and I was busy with getting up and getting ready. I arrived a little early. So, was messing with my phone. When I went in, he put me to my limits. Not fun but needed. We decided for me to stop wearing the brace for a week to see if the brace is part of the problem of not healing very fast. When I came out of the visit, mom was standing there. She wanted to make sure they got the message she couldn't come this afternoon. Not sure why, because she called me in the afternoon and she was working on the quilt.

We went to our cars and then drove to moms. I visited for a bit. Of course, she had some stuff for me to take. I picked up the tablecloth that she told me yesterday she gave to me. Now I have to figure out how to get it to the fair. Chances are it will be when I'm judging. I left and headed to get a drink.

I stopped and vacuumed the car. Then got my drink, since it's across the street. Once that was done, I headed to the museum to pick up 2 quilts and give Tim his tickets for the second day he would work. As I was thinking of the days I can't work it - Tuesday and Friday, I realized those where the days I was needed. So, it's going to be a wait and see. I need to let Debbie know and see if she will work it too. I may have to work the Sunday, just to get everything back home.

Came home and picked blueberries.

So, as I was picking the berries, I found a surprise.

Guess my blueberries didn't agree with the deer in the yard. Shame too, because that's a good number of blueberries I would have liked to have. Let's hope they don't help themselves to more!

While I was picking my berries, mom called and said she was having trouble with the quilt top. She did something wrong and couldn't figure out what it was.

She sent me this photo on text and asked where it was. I told her it was on the left side. It's wrong. She understood, but I think she was still having trouble with it, because she said she would wait till I see her tomorrow to figure it out. Oh, what fun!

I picked about 6 cups of berries. Going to wait another week and pick the rest. There are at least 8 more cuts to pick. Patrick has been eating them at breakfast, just like Phil has. I will be dropping off half of what I picked tomorrow.

Came in the house and played my games. Wasn't in the mood to do anything. I'm getting overwhelmed with everything going on. I was thinking of working on the quilt downstairs. Since Val dropped of a top, I want to put a small border on it, and I have my quilt that needs to be done. Then I need to put a border on mom's quilt. That will give us 3 quilts, but I just can't get myself there yet. It's driving me crazy because I know I have those quilts to do, but I can't get my butt in gear and do them. Maybe this weekend since the rest of the week is full. I have too much going on. And the fair is next week. Lord help me! At this point, I am waiting to feel like I can do this! It's all about Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

From One Thing To Another

We were both up early this morning. He went golfing and I headed to my physical therapy appointment.

First things first, I had to stop at Phil's to drop off Kale for him. Then I headed to moms to get her referral for physical therapy. Once I grabbed that, I went to my appointment. We are still trying to figure out why I'm so sore and it's really not letting up. We walked around the building so I could tell him where it hurts. Then we came back in and worked on my foot/leg. I'm as baffled as he is.

After the appointment went to moms. There were 7 quilters there. I didn't have a place to sit. It was weird how everyone wanted to talk to me. Nancy chatted about what was going on, and so did Carmen. We had a good "medical" chat. When I was done there, Georgie wanted to talk to me about her blocks and what she's doing for QOV. Then I met up with Carmen again in the kitchen and chatted. We put the pizza in the over. After she left, I set the table and got everything ready. Mom didn't see me do that, so she was getting worried that it didn't get done. About that time, I got a text from Carol that she needed to give me all the QOV stuff because she's going through surgery and having issues with Donna. So, it was time for her to pass the job to someone else. I need to check with Donna (QOV not Carol's Donna) and see if she can do it. I will call her tomorrow.

I left moms and headed Carol's to pick up the stuff. We sat and chatted for a while. She's getting hip surgery on the 6th. We talked about how Donna has been doing. Guess she's mad at Carol today because she was in her sewing room. I enjoyed our chat and told her I would be visiting her just to say hi. We can do coffee together or something.

Off to Winco. When I was checking out, the guy in front of me had an "over-ride" and when she was done with that, he was gone. She told me, "that comes to $34....." and I said, "that's my stuff there," pointing to the other side of the counter. So, the guy before we walked out without paying.

I then headed to the credit union and ended up waiting 10 minutes in line. I had to move some money to my "paypal" account, since I was using it up. Then I needed a drink!

Off to the car wash and Dutch Brothers for iced tea. The car stopped in the wash, and I was almost ready to call Patrick to tell him when it started back up again. It felt good to get the iced tea. Next stop was the post office, which was another long wait. Every place I went today, I had to stop and wait. Good thing I wasn't impatient or in a hurry. I dropped the blueberries I got from Penny off at Phil's and told him not to tell his dad. lol

Came home and went over everything with Patrick. I was still in the "go-go-go" mood, and he had to tell me to stop and sit down and take a break. I wanted to get something done today. I did, but not what I wanted to get done. I didn't work on anything at moms. I didn't do anything when I got home. I sat and played my game. I was trying to move my castle to another kingdom, but it looks like I was booted with at least 2 of them so far. Oh, well.

Now I'm beat! Running around with my head cut off didn't help. OH! Mom gave me the quilt we did together. She wants me to mark the border so she could quilt it. Of all the ..........! I have the quilt. She keeps giving me one thing after another to do! I am worn out with all the stuff she's given me and expecting me to do! UGH!!

So, today was not my best day. Even though I tried, it wasn't meant to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Day At The Casino

This morning, Patrick went to his PT appointment. I was up thinking I had a game to play at 9 am but found out it's tomorrow. So, I played on my tablet for a bit and waited for Patrick.

When he got home, we headed out to the casino. We get extra money on Wednesdays. So, we headed out. We were there about 4-5 hours. All we won, went back into the machines. We did have a good time. Then we decided to have an early dinner by having a French Dip for supper. It was really good. AND hot! I had to wait a bit to take a bite, since it came directly from the stove at this rate. We went and played a little longer and then came home.

Got home and didn't feel like doing much. At 4 pm it wasn't worth it. So, I played on my tablet.

Mom sent me a text with this photo.

Asking me what went wrong. I sent her a text back to turn the top left block and got a message back that said, "We can figure it out on Friday." What the heck!! It's not that hard to see! I sent another message, turn the top left block. No reply. I looked at Patrick and told him she's playing her game again. She wants me to put the blocks together, so she doesn't have to. Which means she's going to make the blocks, then give them to me to put together, even after I told her I didn't have the time to be doing these blocks. I have panel quilts that need to be done. UGH. So, Friday, I will go to her meeting, then she will tell me she couldn't figure it out! - YEAH RIGHT! She's been quilting since she was 4 years old, so I know darn well she knows what she did wrong! So, here I go again, another quilt top I need to sew together because she won't do it. She wants me or someone else to do it. Bad enough Georgie makes blocks so fast I can't get them into quilts either. I have other things I want to do, and quilting is not one of them!

I will continue to get lost in my games. I need to figure out how to tell mom to STOP! In the meantime, today wasn't my day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

On A Roll........

This morning, I needed to get moving. I had to go to the bank, then see Phil, Colleen and then head to moms. I left around 9 am. First, I had to wait on the car in front of me at the bank. That person was doing business they should have gone into the bank for. After 10 minutes, I was able to leave for Phils. I dropped off some jam Patrick made and some fresh bread I made yesterday. Once we chatted, I went to Colleen's to drop off another quilt and then pick up a quilt. I ended up being there a good 45 mins. Mom called to see if I was still coming to the meeting and I told her I was on my way. Stopped to get tea and headed to her house. I ended up arriving at her place at about 10:45 am. UGH! I was going to square off her blocks, but she wanted me to take them home and work on them.

It's not like I need more to do. Anyway, I couldn't square them us, but at least they were already close to being squared up. So, I trimmed what I thought I needed and then laid it out on the floor. It's off center, so I'm going to have to try another design. AGAIN, not that I need something to do!!

My eye treatments arrived today. So, I had to heat up the eye patch and wear it for 15 minutes. I have done it 3 times so far. I does feel good, but I still have to use the eye drops as well. The one tonight is a gel that I sleep with. I will do that after I'm done playing on the tablet.

Then I pulled out my cross stitch to work on.

I was able to get about 300 stitches done tonight. It's coming along. I have a few places that I don't stitch in because the beads will go in those spots. I don't want to bead as I go. I'm going to do the beading last. I'm actually enjoying working on this. Who knows, at this rate it may get done before Christmas.

I was running around most of the day. Even had to stop and get gas. Nancy looked pretty good considering she feel and ended up with stitches. We walked down the block and back, because her hip tightened up on her. I was able to show Georgie one of her quilts. And will all that I ended up doing and getting home to do more, I'm tired. I may not finish my book tonight and call it a night sooner than normal. All in all, I was just thrilled to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

MOM TURNED 90 TODAY

This morning, we needed to be at the Gathering Place by 9:15 am. So, we stopped and took care of the water system, then got tea at Dutch Brothers. By that time, we were on time at 9:15 to find my younger brother Patrick and his family working on setting everything up. We all got everything done in time to call mom and have her pick up a package at the Gathering Place.

She WAS surprised. We had done it! It took 2 weeks of keeping her at arm's length so she would suspect anything. She was giving me a hard time for staying away from her the past couple weeks. The funny part was, I wasn't staying away from her. I spent an afternoon with her; we took her out to eat with Katt here. But she is always thinking I don't come around enough.

It was good to see family. My cousins showed up and it was a very good time.

Even Phil showed up. We took a group shot of the 4 of us. Phil needed a picture of mom and the rest of us. The quilt behind is the one grandmother started, and mom finished. So, it was just right to have that in the background.

Then it was my older brother Chris in the back with brother Patrick. Mom and I in front.

Then it was the whole TAYLOR group. My cousins and 2x cousins. It was a lot of fun. My nieces and nephews are in this one as well. Plus, the 4 kids of Kylee and Derek Hunter's (niece).

A couple people couldn't make it. Afterwards, Patrick and I dropped off mom's gifts and headed home. The rest stayed a bit longer. Patrick called to ask if we wanted to go to Vancouver to see his new place. They would be going down tomorrow for a BBQ. I am beat, and I need this rest before this week's starts again. It's been so busy lately, I don't know if I'm coming or going. Time will tell. lol

So, today was a success and we all had a good time. Now I'm going to try and enjoy being lazy tomorrow. I need to get a few things together to show on Monday in Puyallup at the Woolie's group. It should be fun. I'm looking forward to it.

As much as I wanted to be, it was not a day to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Embroidery Day - AND I DID Embroidery Today

This morning, I had to collect everything for embroidery. I grabbed my embroidery bag and forgot my cross stitch stuff.

First things first, I had to stop at the bank, then head to Dutch Brothers for coffee and tea. Then had to swing by moms to get the quilt that was done and give her the puzzle I took apart to return. She wasn't sure who she had to return it to, but she'll figure it out.

Mom wanted to show me the quilt she's hand quilting. This is the piece that we worked on together. She's really enjoying this. Found out while I was there, we have a baby show for my niece down south. It's a 2 hour drive for us here. Mom is going to want to go because it's her favorite. I don't want to go 2 hours and then have to stay 1 hour and back home. It's an all day thing for me. It's in April, so we will have to wait and see.

Arrived at the grange about 3 mins late. Not bad considering I was running late.

Geralyn and I chatted and worked on our stuff. She was stitching the stars I gave her last time and I was working on my hummingbird embroidery.

I worked on the leave up top. I was surprised I got as many as I did, done. It felt good. But I'm really not crazy about the instructions. I do love the piece though. It won't get done anytime soon.

As I sit here typing this, the wind is blowing, and I hear the trees moving. There is something outside that is moving around as well. Guess we have a warning, so it will be interesting tonight.

After leaving the grange, I met up with Colleen and Debbie. We talked about what's going on with the quilts. I brought 3 home that are done, gave Colleen 3 more. Plus, I want to get mine done, so may be dropping it off next week. All depends on my foot. We figured out the meeting for QOV is when Patrick has his MRI and CT scans. So, Debbie is going to handle it for me.

Came home after getting the car washed and stopping off at Safeway and Phil's. By that time, I was tired of all the running around. So, I played on my tablet. I was thinking I should plug my tablet in and stitch and realized it was time to call it a night. Patrick reads for a bit and I listen to my books and play more.  Patrick wants to go to the casino tomorrow and I asked if we could go to Ilani down south. He was okay with that. I know he wanted to go to Lucky Eagle but I want something different. Plus a couple game are there that we can't get up here.

Even though it was a busy - running around - day, I was glad to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Still Stitching

This morning was one of those nights where I couldn't sleep. I should have gotten up and worked on something but I didn't.

I played on my tablet most of the morning. I ended up chatting with other alliances to get them to stop the stupid fighting. They are killing the kingdom. I have a feeling that the one person who won't compromise is the one that betrayed me in May. It's going to be interesting. He won't budge and neither will I. So, that kingdom is doomed. lol That took a couple hours chatting back and forth with 3 people. It didn't get anywhere but it was a try.

Then I took a break and decided to watch a couple shows and stitch.

I worked on the owl and let me tell you! That is a pain in my back side! I messed up a couple times and I just left it. I don't care if someone figures that out. Then I went and added more red by the owl and white in the beard. It's coming along and it's really, really getting close. I can do this! It's getting there.

Mom sent me a photo of the quilt we worked on. She's quilting it and wanted to know what to put in the triangle area. Told her to put leaves in it.

I love the quilting she's doing on it. The two applique blocks are the ones I did. The ones above this photo are ones she did. Can't wait to see how fast she gets this done. She's having a blast with it. I love what she's doing.

So, today, between mom and myself, we are both Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Cleaning And Casino

This morning, I surprised myself by going back to sleep when Patrick went to take a shower. I was going to get up before he did, but laid there. Then when I woke again it was 30 minutes later.

Patrick went golfing and told me to be ready to go when he got home. I cut backing and batting for Colleen, cut fabric for Georgie, washed the backing, and baked a cake for Patrick. I also sent emails to the veterans who are to receive a quilt to let them know it would be about 4-6 months. Once all that was done, sat down and played. Patrick walked into the door. Asked if I was ready to go - NOPE! I told him he could wait a bit.

Then we headed out to Lucky Eagle to the casino. We seem to do better on Thursdays - till today. We went through some money (more than I want to admit) and when we were down to the last $100 we started winning again. We were up to about $300 of what we lost in the first hour of playing. We kept playing for awhile, then went to eat at the deli area. After that, we went back to one of our regular games and brought it back up another $100. Changed to another game and won another $400. So, by the time we were done, I'm happy to say we came out with $700 more than we took. I'm glad about that, because we took a LOT and then pulled some more out of the bank. Now, we have more than we went with and that makes me happy. At this rate, the last 4 times we have been ahead, and the casino is sitting pretty with the money we spent.  Either way, they make their money.

Finally came home at 8:30 pm and are calling it a day. One the way home I got a text from mom. She's quilting the animal quilt we did together. I will try and post photos tomorrow. As it turned out it wasn't my day to enjoy my crafts. I tend to clean when he's gone, because he's always watching TV and I hate to do anything while the TV is one. I need to learn to clean while he's home and show him how frustrating it can be trying to watch TV with someone cleaning. lol Oh, well. Just wish I could have done a little bit, to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Time At Moms

This morning, I was up early to play on my war game. Since I have a higher level it was fun to be able to win. lol

Then I got ready and headed out to go to moms. She was there, but no one had arrived yet. It's weird but it's looking like there are only 4 of us at times. At least Penny arrived to make it 5. Mom wanted me and everyone else to figure out her design and what colors to use.

She's into pastels and it's looking more like a pastel quilt than a bright quilt. At least the leaves are bright enough. lol Phil and Emily helped mom with a rabbit design. This is the design they did for her. It's really cute. We had to enlarge it a bit. It was 6 1/2" but that wasn't big enough. So, I went ahead and put it on the computer and made it 25% bigger. This works better. She has a blue/grey material that she going to make the rabbit out of. We also chatted about the border. By the time she's done, the border will be brighter than the flower.

After all that, I decided to work on the moss again. I have about 5 more to do and then it's done. I will be putting the beads on it later. There are a few more things I need to do on this as well. So, I will get to work on it. May try and get it done for Emily's Birthday. Hard to say. I may do something else for her.

Stopped at Rite Aid for Patrick on my way home. Had to wait 30 minutes for the medication. It was weird because they sent the medication order in the morning. Patrick called me when I arrived at moms. I was at Rite Aid by 2:30 pm and had to wait. I was surprised I had to wait since the order was placed in the morning.

Came home, and decided to just sit and enjoy the afternoon. I had to watch "Friends" for a bit, which I'm so tired of watching. I saw them when they were on the air and then the repeats. Oh, well. It would be nice if I could watch a couple of my shows once in awhile. At this point, I wish he would go golfing more, so I can. lol

I decided to order a cutting board for my top downstairs. I want one big enough that I don't have 3 of them butted up against each other. The seams make it hard to cut sometimes. I also order more batting and backing, so I needed something that would make it easier for me. I used the money mom gave me for it. It was expensive but hopefully worth it. I need something down there. Plus, I need to clear my counter top off so I can put it there. I put too much stuff down there and I seriously need to put my stuff away. I may do that this weekend. Hard to say. lol

I've been playing games. Now that it's time to call it a night, I can look back over the day and be greatful I was able to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Another PLANNED Day That Got Messed Up

This morning, I was up and enjoying my time for a bit. Unfortunately, Patrick got up shortly after and wanted to remind me of things I said I would do.

My plan today was to get downstairs and work on getting the quilt done. Instead, I sat upstairs till 1 pm watching a Paul Newman movie. Then went downstairs to get started.

I was working on the quilt about an hour or so, when mom called to ask what I was doing. After telling her, she decided to come over and get some help on a design she wanted to do for Zach and Jorden's baby quilt, since they are expecting in February, and she was behind. I kept working till she arrived.

I was working on the outer board stars. The single ones. I had the center part already done and was adding the star border. Then she came.

We looked over her design that she copied from the computer. I told her to be careful because some people get upset with copyrights. By the time she was done, it was changed so much that it was "inspired by" and not copied. Which is a lot better now a days. It's cute. She didn't like the rabbit that was on it. So, she watched YouTube to find out how to draw a rabbit. It's a cute rabbit too. So, we changed a couple things and instead of the face of the rabbit, she's going to do the whole rabbit. It should be cute. Then she asked Patrick about colors. The fabrics she had were a little off. So, I ended up pulling fabrics from my stash for her. We found a good color for the rabbit that is "fluffy."

After a couple hours, she left. Then I went back to work. I didn't realize it was 5 pm till Patrick came done. I had the quilt top to the stage above.

At that point I was tired of it. I asked what color for the border and he picked the blue. The trouble with the blue is that it's a blend, and I didn't realize it till I was working on it today. I didn't want the blend on the outer boarder. So, Patrick picked the stars in blue. I goes, but not my favorite. Again, I was tired of it by this point. So, the border is on it. Now the backing is getting dried and will be ready to drop off at Colleen's tomorrow with another quilt. I'm behind on washing the backings. I need to put a sticky there for me to remember to make sure they are out of the drying tonight - and if I forget, I will pull them out tomorrow.

It turned out to be a lot longer day then I wanted. I wanted to just be down there 3 hours and call it good. Instead it went to 4 1/2 hours. Patrick didn't mind. BUT he waited on me to fix supper! I figured it wasn't that hard to fry burgers but apparently it was. I ended up going back down after supper to pick up and get everything ready for tomorrow. Val is coming to pick up stuff and I'm heading to the embroidery meeting. On the way back I will be stopping at Colleens.

Even though it was busy, I can't say I wasn't Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Quilting Day At Moms

This morning Patrick beat me getting up. I showered and was out the door.

Got to moms before everyone else.  She had me do a couple things for her. Then everyone started coming in. There were 7 of us.

Worked on moms quolt block. She asked me how many I had done. I laughed at her and said I was lucky to have this close to being done. I had to get the Velin pattern from the bottom underneath the drawer. That took some doing since it was the bottom drawer. At least I put the 2 leaves I took off. Then got to work on the circles. Once that is done, I can start on the next block.

After helping mom with computer stuff,  I finally came home. Brought 4 quilts home with me. Wasn't in the mood for anything else. When mom has stuff for me, it wears me out. I love mom, but lately the "too needy," is driving me crazy.  Told her to have Patrick and Christine help her when they come. Since we aren't invited for Thanksgiving, I am not in the mood to see them either.

At least I found time for Quilting and being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Another Friday With Quilters

This morning I was able to play our game before heading to moms.

I had to swing by Connie's before heading to moms. She's got another quilt she's ready to work on. Picked up 2 quilts from her. Then headed over to moms for Quilting.

I put 2 leaves on this first block. I did that because I needed my needle. With moms light box,  I worked on back basting the second block. I had to make it, then cut some of the fabrics to work on it.

I back basted the start of the flowers on the second block. I need to add a couple more things before I start appliqueing them down.

Came home. Placed my bead order for Sandy and me. Then relaxed the rest of the day. I ate so much today, that I probably gain 2 lbs. Ugh!

It was worth it to be Happy Quilting!

Collecting Fabric Today

This morning was Quilting at moms. I had a few places to stop along the way. I canceled one for Monday.  Got to moms by 9:30 am. We visited before everyone started coming in.

I worked on moms BOM.

I finished the leaves - or thought I did.

The leaves in the center was done wrong. Took them out and started all over. I just need the circles on top of the leaves on top. Will finish them later.

Left at noon to drop off backing and batting.  Next stop ( after Dutch Brothers) was to Debbie's.  Picked her up and we headed to Onalaska to get fabric for QOV.

This was after we went through 20-30 tubes. This isn't half of what we did. We organized it a little bit. There was more there, but after 3 hours of going through each box and taking what we wanted,  we called it done. We came home with 6 tubes of fabric that will work for us.

Came home, unloaded, then took Debbie home. I Then took a shower and washed my hoodie because I wanted to wear it tomorrow.

Finished the label on the quilt Colleen did for us.

Now I am beat and calling it a night. Tomorrow is presentation day. At least I was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Getting Ready For Vacation

Today, I was working on laundry and getting ready for our trip. I wanted to work on my "bead starter strip" that can be used to s...
