Had A List For Today

Last night I wrote myself a list to make sure I tried to get something done today. 

1. Do certificates

2. Cut backing for Connie

3. Cut backing and batting for 3 quilts

4. Work on getting Smiley's stuff ready.

5. Get the backing washed

6. Send photo of color catchers to Bob

7. Look for fabric for mom

8. Get to work on finishing the quilt top

9. Put labels on 7 quilts

Now that list was on the counter. I had to go walking first.  Ron and I walked for the last time before he leaves for California. I will see him back here in April. I will miss him! Walking went so much better with someone to talk to. 

Patrick got home on my last lap. Then I headed downstairs to work on getting the certificates done for Saturday. I had to get the ink in the printer. But before that, I had to get my computer to work for me. It's a laptop and since they updated it to Windows11 it's been a major hassle. They finally printed. 

I found my quilt top like this. I guess Sophie thought I needed help! NOT! I will have to get this done! First, I have to get the other quilts ready to be quilted. 

While I waited on the last one, I started cutting the backings and battings. I have the backing for Connie's quilt and the other 3 done. I then came up to get them in the wash. 

About that time my mother's cousin called me. She wanted to chat. Told her I would call her back after supper. Which I did. Then it was 45 mins on the phone with her. Good thing I had 2 of the quilt labels on.

Victoria Parrott made this one! I love the work she does for us. I had to get 2 of her quilts ready to be quilted. One of them I had to trim the tails of thread on the back. 

This is another one. 

This was Val Gordon's quilt. They are all ready to go to the museum. I thought I had done 5 of them, but I guess I just did 4. I had too much on my plate today. 

I was able to get most of my list done. The part of 7 labels, well that didn't happen. Plus, I didn't get Smiley's stuff ready for him. So, that will have to be done tomorrow. Even though I'm going to be out most of the day. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the last 2 done. My day was BUSY, and none stopped. Phone calls do get in the way, but that's life and I work around them. Today I was working really hard to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

Crashed Today

 This morning I couldn't get my butt up. I finally got up around 9:30 am, know I needed to go walking around 11. Ron called to see if we were still one. Told him we were. It wasn't raining like it was all week. So, we took our walk. Halfway through the walk Patrick came home. I finished my walk to find Patrick in his chair not so happy. Said he had a bad night sleep, and it went into the golf game. Plus he hasn't been feeling well the last few days. He decided to go take a nap. I worked on laundry and cleaned up the kitchen before I sat down to play games. It wasn't a half hour since he went to take a nap, that I was falling asleep myself. I ended up napping for 2 hours and still didn't want to get up. We had a "light" supper and then. 

I went downstairs to get 2 quilt tops ready for Connie. She said 1 but I want to get some out of the house. I will be dropping off some of the scraps that I went through yesterday. I didn't touch the pile today. 

I am down to this much. It's depressing to see. I hate having to go through all this. I would rather have some really nice fabrics that were washed or even kept clean. I will have to work on it. I am sending 3 bags to Connie tomorrow. 

I have these three bags ready to go to Connie. I had to wash the backings. I'm on my last backing and then I can fold it up and put it in the bag as well. She wanted some backing and batting for one of her quilts. There are 2 quilts ready to be quilted and one that she wanted and will have ready. She's going to do a little at a time. I don't want to push her. I'm actually getting more tops in and need to get them out to be quilted. It's going slow but I know in a month or show it will pick up. 

I'm still not all there. I have a mammogram tomorrow - YEAH! - not. Plus I have to go to moms for our meeting. I will be leaving early. Not sure I really want to go, but will go so mom doesn't get upset with me for not coming over. Maybe this weekend I can get all this stuff done and get back to my normal part of making tops. Hard to say. But today was the day I crashed from all this stuff going on in my life. Which means I was not Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Time Was Spent In Olympia Today

 This morning we were up early and on the way to Olympia. Since our doctors are up there, that were we go. Of course, today was my "physical" and we all know what that means. At least us women do! I was told if all goes well, I won't have to have the "Paps" done again. Like a graduation! I liked that idea. Fingers crossed I will graduate!

We then went to get meds for my Grand doggie! After that we had one more stop. I was told to come back in 30 mins, so Patrick took me to Teriyaki for my "supper." I order and have to wait. He sat out in the car. Then we headed back. It was done and then I had to stop at Phil's to give him the dog meds. I was getting hungry by then. 

Arriving at home, I got going on my "lunch/supper" because it smelled so good! It wasn't hot but it was good! I was thrilled to get Japanese food after all this time. Patrick doesn't care for food that isn't steak and potatoes. 

After that I went downstairs to work on that pile of scraps. I had a fill bag I throw away. Way too many 1" strips that where not folded and didn't smell the best. There was some white fabric in yardage, so I washed those. They did have some yellowish stains and I figured I better wash it out. Don't want to make a quilt with stains on it. I think we even have some of that same fabric. There were from what I did today, a few blocks already done. I'm giving Connie all the scraps that I think are worth it, plus the blocks. She can use them for something or give them to the church. The church where they quilt for us, only want 2 yards or more. Haven't found any of that yet. I did get about 4 bags done. I am taking my time working on that stash. I am throwing away the really small stuff. I hate doing it, but since they were scraps, they need to go. 

I came back up and baked cookies. The good ones! White Chocolate with Macadamia nuts! Yum! But the batch was a small batch. Not even 2 dozen! So, I'm going to double it next time. They were really good!!

Then it was time to work on my next set of ornaments. I was able to finish this one and start the next one. These are the first pair. I figured between what I did and where I ended up, I pretty much did one whole panel. Not bad for just sitting and watching TV with Patrick. 

I have another trip to Olympia on Friday. As we all know - women that is - how much we hate getting our boobs pinched - it's that time for me to be checked. Oh, what fun! Till then I'm going to try and keep busy being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

What A Day! Making Up For Yesterday!

 This morning I was enjoying sleeping in. Patrick did to. I finally got up after he's shower. Then I went down my list of what I needed to do. Donna was coming over at 11 am to drop off scraps of material. I got a call about 10:30 am saying she couldn't make it at 11 but could make it after I get back from my running around. 

I got a text from Colleen telling me she finished the quilt top and could she come over. I told her I would be home around 3 pm and she could come then. 

Next, I headed out to the church to drop off a quilt top. Then I headed over to Alli's place to drop off some panels and fabric. Once that was done we chatted about how we could make money for the group. She's got awesome ideas and I'm letting her go for it. She's going to set up a website for us and when she does, I will drop the Facebook page. From there I stopped and got coffee and tea for Patrick and I. Then headed to the museum to pick up some tops. Victoria from Ocean Shores dropped off 4 tops. 

I'm going to show them as I opened them up. I love the work she does!!

I sent her some fabrics and some panels. She did an amazing job on all of them. 

Finding the right colors for this isn't easy and she did great!

This one is a hard one to figure out what to do. She's given me some ideas, and now maybe I can do a couple of these. 

I didn't look at the one Colleen added to. I will do that later. Just after Colleen left, Donna arrived. 

She dropped all this off! I have to go through it and figure out what we can use and what I need to do with the rest. I may end up taking it to Connie for her own quilts. Hard to say. One of those bags I saw was nothing but very small scraps. It's going to take time to go through them. The church doesn't want them unless they are 2 yards worth. So, I'm really going to have to work on that as well. I don't know if there is any of it, we can use. It's hard to say just looking at it like this. I will work on it a little at a time. I need to do 1 bag at a time. Not sure that will count towards being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Embroidery & Quilting!

 Today was Brazilian Embroidery day. I worked on my Ruth's Farwell. I'm now finished with it. I just need to decide what to do with it after it's washed. 

I need to block it when I wash it. I love the colors but have no idea what to do with it now. lol 

I then worked on my cross stitch pieces that Cindy gave me. Mom came as well, so there was 4 of us. Cindy invited her to join us when I get back, to go out for lunch. Should be interesting. Berry Fields was her choice. 

Stopped off at Staples to pick up a few things for QOV. I also picked up a binder for my beading. It's expensive to get notebooks now. I got 2 and then got another one that had a heavy duty cover. I needed more notebooks for my notes that I do when I do genealogy and other stuff. 

I then came home. Once home, believe it or not - I put labels on 3 quilts. I have 8 ready to go to the museum, 4 needing labels and 3 needing the binding on it.

This one is another one by Sara Bowers. I got an email from her last week that a couple more tops is on the way. I'm looking forward to getting them. So far we are making out pretty good for this. 

My day ended up being a good day of Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another HOT Day! - But A Beading Day!

 Today I did my walking and then noticed the blueberries needed to be picked. I couldn't believe how many blueberries I was able to pick today. I had to take an hour out of my day to pick. Patrick was a sweetheart and took care of the kitty litter. I was going to work on laundry today, but that didn't get far at all. I had to cut a backing and get it washed. 

Then I sat down to work on my beading. I should have known better! I completely forgot I had laundry going. I was listening to my book on audiobooks. 

Because this piece is so long, I seem to only get 3 rows done in an afternoon. I'm getting there. I'm on row 27 now. This is brick work and it's starting to look like the bricks on my fireplace downstairs. This is going to take forever at this rate. lol But I'm in the mood to get more beading done. 

Connie sent me a text to tell me I have holes in my scrap quilt border. She found 2 of them and will put a pin there for me to fix. She said to take a 5 x 5" square and put it in. I'm not liking that idea. I may have to work on some stars or something else to applique over it. I think that will look a lot better. I will pick up the top and work on it. Then give it back to her on Saturday when we have our presentation. Which means I need to do some labels as well. I have 6 or 7 to do. 

I wanted to sit with Patrick, so I stopped beading. Then I pulled out me smaller case that has the beaded angels. I did another change on colors for the next angel. If I did it right this time, I will change the dress of the angel and have it ready to go. I just need to do one first. Then I will get the original pattern and change the dresses on those. I like the first set I did better so far. 

I was able to get this far. So far so good. I will keep working on this one. 

The heat is killing me! I had the fans going every place I've been today. We don't have A/C so it can get very hot upstairs. It's a lot cooler downstairs but I just wasn't in the mood to go downstairs and work. I'm just thrilled I was beading and it keeps me Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Spending The Day Quilting Again

This morning I was up and ready to go. I knew Debbie was coming over and I wanted to get my exercises done. I finished after she came. lol

Debbie came over with a really pretty panel. We talked about what she could do for the panel. Patrick put his ideas in on it as well. I have him helping me with mine as well. She stayed a little bit. Sent her home with ideas and some fabric to go with the panel. 

After she left, I came up and cleaned up a little bit. I needed to get the kitty litter changed. I also worked on the backing and batting for the 3 quilts. 

I finished the scrap one. It turned out better than I thought. 

Then I started on the next quilt. I added the border to the panel. Patrick is helping with the designing. I will add strips. We will figure out how to do them later. It won't be tomorrow since I have a long list of things to do. 

We then left at 3 pm to head over to moms for crab supper. We got there and worked on getting the corn and crab cooked. The crab was already cooked but I like my crab warm. I heated up half the crab. Then we sat and ate. After awhile we came home. 

I played on my tablets and listened to my book. Patrick watched "Big Bang" which I'm so sick of it's not funny. I've seen every episode at least 20 times working it's way to 100 times. 

I was thrilled this morning worked out and I was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Spending The Day Quilting

This morning I slept till 10 am!! I couldn't believe it. I woke at 6 am and put my blinders on and went back to sleep. lol 

When I finally got moving, I had to go outside and pick blueberries. I must have been out there 2 hours picking!

 Got more blueberries than I expected. I filled the top bowl and had to come back and get the bowl on the right side. (This is how I clean them). 

I put the berries on the counter and went downstairs to work on my quilt. I spend the afternoon sewing the rows together. Once that was done, I needed to add a border. 

I stopped at this point and came up to work on supper. Then I cleaned up the berries and put them in 3 Ziplock Quarts bags. I filled them pretty full. I will give Phil some later. I have at least that much more on the tree that will be ready in a couple days. 

After a little break, I headed back downstairs. I took the top border out and measured the material to find I was an inch short. So, I had to cut another piece for the top. I have it pinned on, but not sewn down. I figured since I was having trouble with the border, I would just call it done. After pinning the border on I cut some labels and pinned them to a white backing fabric. 

So, now I'm ready to sew them as well. I will go back down tomorrow and finish what I started. I need a lot of labels so I will have to make sure I get them done tomorrow. 

We will be going to moms tomorrow for crab supper. She called to say she has 5 crabs and wanted to know if we wanted to come over. I love crab and said yes. Patrick was looking at me like I was crazy! I told him "It's crab! Can't pass that up!" He just chuckled at me. We don't have to go till 3 pm, so I should have time to finish up the quilt and then cut backing and batting to get ready to take to Connie on Monday. I will need to wash the backing and need to put that in consideration as well. 

I felt great being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

It's Another Day!

Today I was up after Patrick went golfing. I played games for a little bit before getting moving. I had a call from Diane (from Spokane) that is QOV related. I haven't chatted with her in over 2 years now. We chatted a good 45 mins! She's a blast. We talked about what is going on and she was asking if we still needed quilts. I told her we are doing pretty good right now. I told her we have 59 requests and about 30 quilts ready to present. We are still working on it. 

Patrick arrived while I was chatting. Told him about what we were talking about. Then I went to my email and had to send out a message to all our members. I also had a few things to work on. I couldn't believe my day was running out so fast! It was 2 pm before I could get downstairs! The heat is killing me! We reached 93 degrees and I'm melting! lol 

I headed back downstairs to see if I could get the last 4 rows figured out. 

The last row was on the floor till I could get it sewn together. I did finish sewing the last 3 rows together. Then I took the bottom 2 and sewed them together. I'm working my way up. It's a little dark from the photo, but at least I could use most of the squares I had that needed a home. I ended up with 2 quilts with this set of blocks. I'm happy to see them being put together and done. Hopefully by this weekend I can get it done and off to Connie on Monday. 

I also signed up for 2 Brazilian Embroidery classes. They are Loretta Holzberger patterns. I want to learn a few things with her. Normally I take a class with Debbie Goff but have already done that class, so I'm heading to Loretta's. Only 2 classes this time. One in Sept and one in November. I can handle that. 

Came up and had supper. Then afterwards I couldn't keep my eyes open, so took a nap on the couch. I rarely do that, but for some reason my eyes would not stay open. I was hoping to work on cross stitch this evening - guess sleep was needed more. lol 

Off to Olympia early tomorrow morning. Patrick's test will be done. Should be home before noon. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Trip To Olympia & Then Quilting

Today we headed to Olympia for Patrick's blood tests. Then in a week or so, he does the MRI and CAT scans. Fingers crossed is cancer is shrinking. Time will tell. 

We stopped at Costco. Picked up a few things. We were surprised we didn't spend as much as we thought we would. Had lunch and then came home. 

I headed downstairs to work on the quilt top. It's not laying flat so it's going to be a mess for Connie. 

I added the light color border to the outside. It's now 64 x 74" and that's not the size I wanted! I wanted to get to 80". I could add another top and bottom but I really have had a pain in the rear with this one! So, I'm not going to add any more. I will tell Connie if it doesn't work out, we should just pitch it! This was one major pain. I really don't want to take the whole thing out and redo it. I would have to remove all the blocks and then square them up! I should have done that in the first place, but that's hind sight. 

I cut the backing for her and this quilt. I then started working on the other top. 

This is a start. I may have to make changes as some of the blocks I ran out of. 

The best thing is that I've used up most of the blocks. I have this left and still have a few more to make. I'm happy to see that I have used a lot of blocks! I'm just thrilled I could use so much of the scraps. I'm not a scrap quilter! This is working for me though. 

I'm running out of fabric but hopefully I can finish the quilt without having to figure out if I have more of this. I use what I have. And right now that isn't much! I will figure it out on Tuesday. 

The weather is really hot around here. We are getting hotter on Tuesday was well. I figure as long as I am downstairs, I'll be cool. I'm not looking forward to another hot day! I'm not one that can handle hot weather. 

At least with all the stuff we did today, I was able to enjoy the day and be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Not My Day For Quilting!

 This morning I was up early. Sun was coming in the window. Decided to get up. Sophie was meowing like crazy when I got up. Poor Patrick didn't get to sleep in since she woke him up! lol 

I got laundry going. Then went downstairs to work on my quilt top.

I added the borders, and the center blocks are way off. I had to warn Connie this will be a pain. I have one more border to add and then it's done. I couldn't get it to lay right no matter what I did. I had to take out both borders and resew them on! It's not my favorite thing to do! So, I gave up for now. I cut the next border and will sew it on tomorrow. Not very excited about putting it on. Decided to stop at this point. 

Then I got busy with the scraps I have. I made more blocks like the last set I made and Patrick designed. 

I changed the lay out of it. I have 2 more patterns in the blocks, so I will have to rethink the design. May have Patrick work on this one too. It goes fast, so I felt better to work on this one. I have some more cut and need to add to the blocks. I hope to get it done tomorrow. - Then I remembered that Patrick has to go to Olympia and then he wants to go to Costco. So it will be awhile before I can finish the first one and work on this one. Wondering if I can get to be working on them tomorrow - AND be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Meetings & Quilting

 This morning I was in the mood to try an easy quilt pattern. I went downstairs and started working on it. Putting a strip on 2 sides of my 5" squares. Then I asked Patrick to call me around 12:45 pm so that I could attend a BE meeting. I had some blocks done and brought them up to Patrick to design the quilt. 

While he was working on the lay out of the quilt, I worked on the border of the star quilt we received. 

When I folded it in half, I found this issue. So I had to work each side and trim it. I couldn't fold and trim without taking out a heck of a lot of block backing. I wasn't thrilled but won't look a gift horse in the mouth! So, I worked it out and added 2 boarders. Then went back to work on Patrick's design. 

Patrick let me know 12:45 pm had come. I got in to Zoom about 10 mins late. Then I listened for 10 mins and tried to see who all were there - on my tablet - and booted myself off. I decided I would not go back. He was to let me know when 3:45 came. I sewed the strips together and then went to my BE virtual meeting. 

While at the meeting, I worked on my Bonsai tree piece. I had the photo there to see what I was supposed to do. 

I got the mud people almost done. I want to work on the greenery in the left side. I will work on that tomorrow. Hopefully. 

After our meeting I went back to working on the quilt top. I was surprised at how easy it was to make in a short amount of time - time that kept getting interrupted. 

9:00 pm and it's finally done. Patrick did the lay out and I sewed it together. I will probably do another quilt with the same blocks. I have so many of the squares, that I may have enough for 2 more quilts. UGH. I would rather do the panels. But I did enjoy this one. At least Patrick was a sweetheart and cleaned up the kitchen as well as cooked supper. I couldn't have asked for a better husband! lol That' how I can be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Meeting Day -

 This morning I went to Connie's to drop off 2 quilt tops. I also picked up 2 finished quilts. My next stop was off to the grange. 

Sandy and Cindy were there before me. I took some things to work on, but then I didn't work on anything. We just chatted for about 2 hours. The only one that worked on anything was Cindy. She was finishing a few things that she started a long time ago. She's been working on UFO's. Wish I could say the same. lol

Afterwards I headed to moms to drop off the 2 quilts I had from Connie. She gave me 2 finished quilt and I took one of the quilts that needed the binding stitched down. 

Came home and worked on the quilt.

I finished working on the binding. I just need to add a label to this and the other 2. I will try and work on it tomorrow. Connie put this together with some blocks that Annette (have to look it up) made and gave to us. 

Believe it or not, I actually was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Working On Preparations For Our QOV Group

 This morning Patrick headed off to golfing. I slept in. Then I had to work on getting stuff done for tomorrow. I started with noticing we were on our new program for QOV. Went in to see what we had. Also checked to see who was getting the quilts tomorrow. Found the group tomorrow were down the list a ways. So, I called Val and Carol to let them know we need to work on the oldest requests first. If they are WWII or Korean War vets then they will go first. Otherwise, it's top of the list to the bottom. We had a good chat and I think we all are on the same page. Now it's a go to get all the fair vets done. Then I had to get the certificates done for tomorrow. By this time Patrick came home. Then I worked on getting a few more things done before sitting down to work on the labeling of the 4 quilts I had to do.

This is another one of Connie Carters. 

This one I'm not sure who pieced it. I just have a note that it's one of Kristi's friends. I will try and get the information when she comes back from Hawaii. 

One thing led to another. I was on the phone most of the day as well as getting labels on quilts. I didn't get a photo of one of my quilts, but will do that tomorrow. At least I was able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Dropped Off Quilts - Finished Another Top

 This morning we were heading to Costco for a few things we needed. I let Sherry know and she met us up there to pick up the 5 quilts that Connie did for them. I didn't want the other person who offered to take them up there. We had lunch up there and then came home. 

After we got home and put everything away. I needed to get a few things done before going downstairs to see about getting that quilt top done. 

As I was working on this, I found that 2 of the blocks that were to go on top, were too small. I don't know how I had some small blocks among all the big ones. NOW I WAS IN TROUBLE. I couldn't work it out to put this all together........

Okay, I had to yell at Patrick to help me at this point. I don't like the blocks, but I have to use them! Asked Patrick what the heck I was going to do. He came up with this idea. I went with it - still not liking the quilt!

I went with it. After 4 hours and late night later, it's done. I'm really not thrilled with it, but it will do. Patrick liked it. Me, not so much. I have another panel like this that I have a better idea for. I will work on it next. 

So, after a LONG day I'm done with this! Thank goodness. I will give the extra blocks to GoodWill! I don't want to deal with anymore of these blocks! We have done 6 quilts from all those scrap blocks. I don't want to see another one for a very long time!

Decided To Finish A QOV Top

Today I was really not in the mood to do much. Till I MADE myself go downstairs and see what I could do. I figured IF I got moving with the quilt top, I'd get it finished today. So, I started........and AGAIN made a math error!! I was always good at math, but for some reason quilts are not where I'm good at math. I thought I had the top of the panel done. Yeah, nope! I ended up taking it out and trying again, this time rethinking it and using the calculator. Better chance of getting it right that way!

Once I had the white pieces between the stars figured out, it went really easy. I had it all put together in about 3 hours. I added the red border and Patrick said it make the quilt pop. I like it. Just wish my block makers would make 12 blocks and not just 8 or 10. Even 10 would have worked great. Oh, well. I do like the way it came out. 

Played with the scrap blocks that were put together by Val. Patrick came down and said he thought it would look better with a panel. So, I pulled out this panel to work with. I put 8 of the scrap blocks one way and then the other. I wanted to look it over to see which way I liked it better. Patrick said the left side. I'm liking them both but will probably do the left. If I have more to do another, then I will probably do it with the right. I may have to add another row of the blocks but not too worried about that. I'm going to sew a few of the blocks together and figure out if I need to border the panel or not. If not, I like the way it is right now. 

That was pretty much all I did. I did get a message from BDEIG that I am now Marketing Chair. Not liking it and Sandy V said she would help. Trouble with that is that she isn't around. I'm stuck. As if I don't have enough stuff going on. I will post the information on the learning classes that will be Virtual on my Brazilian embroidery blog. I write more about my embroidery on that blog then I do here. 

It turned out to be a good day of Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Getting Behind

This is yesterday's post. For some reason I completely forgot to do my blog. Go figure- I do it enough!

The day started out with just relaxing and playing games for a little bit. Then I decided to work on my beading while Patrick went outside to work in the yard. It turned out to be a beautiful day. I didn't have the door open to enjoy the cool air, but I did enjoy sitting at the table enjoying the view.. 

 I was able to get 8 rows done before it was time to go out to eat. I had a few beads that were "off" so had to put them in the "bad" pile. Otherwise I was enjoying watching this grow. 

We picked mom up and headed to Longview. Red Lobster was our place to be. We had an enjoyable meal. When we were ready to leave, they were not around. Figured they were low on stuff. Patrick had to let the gal know we were ready to leave. I had 20% off and a free Birthday cake - chocolate with ice cream. Patrick took a bit and it was history after that. We were supposed to share, but he was all over it. I didn't get much and mom got even less. Didn't bother him. He's excuse was that he needed to gain weight. I loved the cake and could have had that to myself. Oh, well. It surprised me, since he's been having trouble tasting the food without it being gummy or pasty. So, I really can't complain since he would enjoy that cake as much as I did. 

Came home and added another 3 rows to the beading. 

I think I did about 11 or 14 rows all together yesterday. I was happy to see the flowers coming to life. I am not quiet half way, but close. There is more coming. It's a lot of fun to work on. 

I also was in contact with Dawn at High Street Beading Comp and asked about the beads I didn't want in my beading. Come to find out, it's the Silk beads. So,  now I need to go into my program and remove that part - put the rest of them back in. I really do know how to screw up a good thing. The pattern for Sophie has a few of the 1800 (silk) beads, so I will go ahead and work on it, just making sure the next pattern I do will not have them. 

I finished #3 of the placemats. I was happy to be getting them done. I need to do one more and then it's all finished. 

One more to go. This is the one I had to add the bottom green to because I was out of the other one. I don't think it's "in your face" and will just go with it. 

It turned out to be a full day of Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Needed Placemats!

Today I knew Val was coming over, so I went downstairs and looked at my stack of fat-quarters. I decided to make placemats to make up for the 2 we had to get rid of. They somehow got cut and had a big hole in them. So, I decided on greens. I have plenty and not doing much with my fabrics right now. 

I had decided not to go to moms today. Really not ready to be in a crowd, let alone applique today. I do have more quilts that need the bindings stitched down, but that can wait. 

I pulled some out and cut them into strips. Then I took the strips up to Patrick to see what he liked. He decided on the arrangement and I was okay with that. After cutting the strips Val showed up and we talked about QOV quilts. She dropped off her top and I need to cut backing and batting for that tomorrow. I was going to do that today, but forgot after I had the bindings on the placements. 

One mat is different from the rest because I ran out of the red and orange star print. I have one on one side and another color on the other. I think if you look closely, one would find it. Other than that, I have them all the same. I put the bindings on 4. Only made 4 this time. I didn't have enough fabric of 2 colors to continue to 6, let alone 5. 

I used my Australian fabric on the back. It's the fabric that Cynda gave me years ago. I can remember her when we use them. She's the one that was murdered by her husband. The fabric is a fun fabric. I have other fabrics that Ros gave me as well. I will do something with them as well. I need to work on using up the fabrics I have. It would help with down sizing on the fabrics. Been thinking of Ros this week. I need to sent her an email to see how she's doing with the business of photos. 

Like I said earlier, I stitched the binding on 2 of the 4 mats. I have 2 more to go and will try to do those tomorrow. No real big hurry. Think I made Patrick happy when I started working on these. He mentioned it the other day and I said I could make them. He was probably thinking it would be a few months or a year before I got to them. They are easy enough to make. I had the back and batting there as I stitched the strips on. That way it's "quilted" on the back. Worked out great for me.

I'm jumping around again! I am at least Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

 

What A Day!

 This morning at 4 am, I had to fix my monitor. Then went back to sleep. When I woke, I noticed the heart monitor moved. So, I had to fix it again. Since my skin is getting better, I may change the monitor to the position I had when I first started. 

Patrick left before I was up. He went golfing. I cleaned up a little. Then started loading the car with all the stuff I need to take tomorrow for QOV presentation. I'm still needing to add a few more things to the car. Right now, it's fine. What's left won't take long and may just be 1 load. I plan to put labels on 3 quilts tonight so I can add that to the pile going to the museum tomorrow. 

I needed to work on my quilt top, so we can use it for a demo tomorrow. Just when all the phone calls were done, Patrick came home. He was so tired. Said he only got 9 holes in and couldn't go any farther. While he slept on the couch, I went downstairs to get ready for tomorrow. 

I added the bottom part. Then I had to cut the border fabric. As I measured this, I realized it's not long enough. So, I think I'm going to add a bigger border on the top and bottom with a 2 1/2" border on the sides. The top and bottom will be 5 1/2". I decided to use the bright blue fabric. 

I put the white done on that side and think that's what I'm going to do. I like the red on the left. I haven't decided on which red I'm going to do. It's going to have a strip of white, red, white in that spot. I'm not sure what I will do on the last strip. I need to make the center bigger and longer. So, that will be a work in process. I am planning to use the blue with stars fabric. That will work pretty good there. Just how wide I will make the sides is what will be an issue. More to think about. 

Then came up and fixed supper. I decided to call it quits for a short time to play games. Next I'm going to add the labels on the 3 quilts to get them out of the house. I still need to finish the binding on my quilt. Who knows, that may be done this weekend. Looks like we will do another presentation on the 24th since the 2 brothers that we were trying to get quilts for cancelled again. So, now we only have 2 people for tomorrow.
