Starting A Busy Week Early......

This morning I enjoyed a few games. Then it was time to go pick mom up for the movies.

We picked up mom and took her to the movie "Lion King." We all really enjoyed that movie. It was interesting to see how the animals could talk. I would love to know how they did such a good job on getting so real.

After the movies, we went to Arby's to eat. We all had a good time. Mom was thrilled to get out again. We hadn't done much with mom lately and I think we will pick it up more. May take her to more movies.

We had a couple hours left between going to Arby's and bowling. I went downstairs to work on Dian's binding. I would show the quilt, but I can't because I didn't get her okay. I can show the work I'm doing though.

I went on Youtube to see how to do the "Facing" binding. Why in the world they call it a facing binding I don't know. It has nothing to do with facing - or at least the facing in sewing I knew. Any way, I did a sample to see how it turns out. It worked out pretty good.

This is how the front would look. I don't understand why they just don't call it  a back binding or a Dutch binding.

Okay back on track. Once I figure out how it works, I sewed the binding on Dian's quilt.

Now I have to turn it and sew the opposite sides first, then the other sides. Once it's turned. I ironed it. I almost think I made the binding a bit big, because I don't think it needs to a big binding. I cut it at 1 1/2" and folded it in half. I forgot that when I sew it down, I won't be wrapping it around the edge, I will be folding right to the back. I think the next one I do will be 1" instead.

Then it was off to bowling. I wasn't doing so good. I haven't gotten back to my average, and I'm not happy that I haven't figured out the speed yet. I'm working on it. I have a hook that I didn't have before. So, it's taking a little to figure it out. I'm doing good with the spares, so really can't complain too much.

Tomorrow is shopping, Monday is friends, Tuesday is back up to Olympia, Wednesday QOV presentations and bowling, Thursday is back up to Olympia, and Friday is something else. So, this week is busy and just getting started. Will be interesting to see if I get everything I need to get done, done. Wish me luck.

I'm Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Another Busy Day With Quilting And Friends

This morning I was out the door early. Needed to go to the store for mom - she needed some milk. Then dropped off my audio book that I had from the Library.

I arrived at moms to find only 2 other quilters there. Later Nancy and Theresa came. Nancy left early and so did the other new gal. So, it was just 4 of us having lunch.

I worked on the QOV binding.

Of course, I couldn't get a photo without Sophie getting in there. She wanted to check out what I'm doing. Then once she was happy, she got done - long after I took the picture.

After leaving mom's, I went to another friends and picked up a quilt to do the binding on. I'm really excited about doing the binding for this one. It's a hidden binding that shows on the back. I will double check on Youtube how to do it, and then I'll get it one the quilt. Once I get that going I can get moving on stitching it down. I need to do that by the 6th. I will return it on the 5th, if all goes well. lol

I didn't do much yesterday and it wasn't worth posting anything about my visit with my cousin. I enjoyed visiting with her.

I had a good day of being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

A Day Working On Genealogy

I was up early and ready to go. Where....I had no clue...it was a day at home....ugh

I got some more laundry going and then I pulled out my folder of stuff. That stuff was ancestry stuff. I was going through my pile - and double checking on findagrave.com to make sure I had the right person with the right family member. I also double checked the dates on there. I didn't change dates, because sometimes the grave information is wrong. But it does give me a starting point.

I came across my "TUTTLE" family and worked on them. To my surprise, I found that my great grandmother's family (siblings) all seemed to have a thing about AX's. One brother was executed for killing his sister, Sarah, with an AX. Then another member of the family attacked another member with an AX as well. I was really surprised at that family. It's also been documented on the FAG pages. Shocker!

Then I got to work on Patrick's family. That family is more historical. They have a lot going on at with that family. I wish at times my mother in law was around so I could tell her what I found.

Then it was time to walk, and exercise. Now I don't have any time to spend working on my crafts. I'm not happy about that, but then I realized I did over 100 names in my family tree today, so can't complain too much.

It's another not so Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

A Quiet Day

Since I had no plans today, I actually stayed in bed till about 9 am. I just couldn't seem to get up. I often wonder if it's because I'm staying up later, or if I'm going through depression. I'm not wanting to go that direction again. I am finding that I'm not as into playing games as I was. That could be a good sign.

I got laundry going. I washed sheets and towels and put them out on the line. It is always nice to have them hanging on the line. Smells good too.

I went through my stuff in the "blue" room. I have a bigger box that I loaded up for my brother. I have some stuff for my older brother, but not much. Giving them to my younger brother to decide if he wants them or if he wants to give them to my older brother. Once it's out of my house, the better. I'm tired of having all this stuff and not knowing what to do with it.

I then decided to watch TV and try to get my binding done on the QOV quilt. It's going to be in the presentation next week, so I need to get it done. I got another side done and then some.

I called Dian as mom was saying she wanted to talk to me. She wants me to do the binding on here quilt she finished for her sister. I told her I would. It won't take long, it's really not as big as the QOV quilts are.

After supper and walking, I decided to try and get more done on my tree. I added more STRONG family members to my tree. I also asked for some of the family to be in my care on Findagrave.com. I also found a lot more family members that I didn't have on FAG. It's nice to see.

It was a good day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Working At The Veterans Memorial Museum

This morning I was in some pain. I got myself a beautiful bruise on the back shoulder blade. I didn't say what I did yesterday, so I'll fill that part in.

Yesterday while I was working on my genealogy....I was doing it all on the floor. So, Patrick was a sweetheart and he brought me a stool and a pad to sit on. I was sitting on the pad. Then I thought I would sit on the stool.......I got up went and got myself some water and came back.......ready to sit on the stool......well.....the stool wasn't there when I went to sit down....the floor was, and I hit the stool with my back shoulder blade! Big bang. Patrick was sweet, he just asked, "don't tell me you fell off the stool." I said, "nope, I missed the stool and hit it instead." He didn't say anything else and he didn't come in for details......in other-words, that's normal for me!

So, this morning I felt the pain. Not last night, but this morning. I got ready for the museum and was chatting with Phil before I was on my way out the door. He asked about the pumpkins Patrick is growing.

I sent pictures and then pulled a few tomatoes off the bush. I need to work on another sauce again! I'll do another one tomorrow. I have way too many tomatoes to get all at once. I took about 6 of them to Skip to find out he doesn't care for tomatoes. So, I ended up bring them back home.....

I got to the museum and realized I forgot my word sheet on the snowman ornament. I ended up using the one I finished and work off that.

It was a busy day. We did a lot of registrations for the car show this weekend. We also had a lot of people show up to go through the museum. It was one good day for the museum. Funny how Skip and I bring in a lot of people. Love working with him!

Came home and ended up doing the walking around 6:30 pm. Then got back in the house and the night is almost gone. I am playing my games to relax. Time to call it a night.

At least I was able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Genealogy

Today I was working on my genealogy today. I had a mess in the computer room with my genealogy. I had file boxes that I needed to get through. I pulled out all 3 boxes, and got to work. I had a lot of stuff to file, and I had some stuff to scan. I scanned and entered documents and photos to my genealogy family tree. Then I pulled out my pile of stuff I needed to add to my genealogy.....which I started to do once the stuff was filed. I had one big mess on the floor. Patrick just stayed away. lol

I was able to add some information. I was able to check my "find a grave" and get more information, as well as list a few family members that were not listed. Mom lost a couple of her cousins, and that explains why she hasn't heard from them. I told her of a couple, but don't want to go down the list. It's longer than we though.

So, my MATHESON, BIRGE, and one other family were getting filled in. I was surprised at how many more I added to the BIRGE family as well as the other family - can't remember which one that was...but there were at least 24 names added to that line. I have a lot more to do. I have letters to type, and the list goes on....as well as working on my crafts.

I wasn't able to do my beading or cross stitching. I wonder if I will ever live long enough to do all the things I want to do. I was okay with doing genealogy today, because I wasn't working on the TAYLOR line. I have a heard time finding things on the TAYLOR's because I used to share with dad. He would tell me stories, and now those stories are silent.

I'm at the museum tomorrow, and not sure what I will take with me to work on. Maybe nothing. It would be nice to be doing something that would be Happy Stitching or Happy Quilting!

A Quiet Saturday Compared To Normal

This morning I didn't want to get up. Patrick slept on the couch because of his back.

When I finally got up, I played a couple games and then went to work on my beading.

The bird is coming along. Getting close to finishing the first bird. There are three in all. I do like this, and it's coming along great.....except for the few times I had to replace a couple broken beads. I did get about 5 rows done today. That was awesome. It's now row 88/446.

After doing all those rows, I joined Patrick in watching TV...which we both fell asleep in front of. Sophie was on my lap the whole time.

Then it was off to Pizza Hut for supper and then off to the bowling alley. I did better tonight then I've done in awhile. I got a 525 series which is a heck of a lot better than I was doing with the new bowling ball. I got more strikes then usual. The guy that was going to bring the shoes for me, took them back because we didn't bowl last week, so he's bringing them again next week. He's a little weird, but I do need the shoes. Patrick bowled a 489 series. He was having some trouble. He's getting his new bowl re-drilled.

Today as at least a good day for being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Guess I'm Getting Lazy

This morning I slept in a little. I was excepting mom but she called and said my niece was coming in today. So, no mom, and I didn't go to see them for lunch.

I played on my tablet and worked on laundry. Got most of it done but will have another pile tomorrow knowing Patrick when he cleans.

I played the audio book and beaded.

I have 83/446 rows done. It's coming along great. I am really into this. I'm getting a lot done when I can sit down and work on it.

This evening I tried to get a few more stitches done in my cross stitching. I was having some trouble with it, got my stitching off. Now it's back on track.

I'm betting a little lazy when it comes to doing my blog. I keep forgetting to do this. I was on my way to bed....and then remembered I hadn't done my blog. I know I'm boring, but it's no fun when I forget to write down what I was doing....ugh.

So, lazy as I am, I'm calling this done. It was a very good day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Not A Day I Was Hoping For

This morning I was up early. Then Sophie wanted to have some TLC. I wanted to get out the door before 9 am, but that wasn't going to happen.

I did get out the door by 9:30 am. Took my CD audio book with me too. I was up to Olympia for my B-12 shot before 10:30 am. I believe I was actually back home by 11:30 am. It was a quick trip and the traffic was a little busy but not so bad I couldn't get home in a good amount of time.

When I got home, I started cleaning. Vacuuming - and while I did that, I saw my tip "clip" of my tweezers for my beading......just as it was sucked up in the vacuum! I then realized my cat must have been playing with it! So much for thinking she doesn't mess with my beading stuff!! Now I am glad I cover my beading. As for the tip cover, it's gone. I tried to find it in the vacuum but that wasn't easy and it was a big mess....which I decided it wasn't worth it.

Sophie was meowing at me all day long! I would go get lunch and get meowed at. Then I would go to laundry and she would meow there too. I finally got the idea that she wanted attention - lucky me. So, we sat down and I watch Netflix while she was loving here attention. Oh, what fun!

Patrick wanted dessert, so I tried to find something "healthy" and he wasn't going for that. I ended up making something HIGH in everything! It's a "Buckeye Brownie" bar.

It's brownies, peanut butter (and sugar) with chocolate on top. SUGAR, SUGAR, SUGAR. Not happy about this!

So, I found a a couple other recipes that I'm going to make later. He will just have to live with it. lol

So, I'm hoping to finally get to sit and do the binding of the panel quilt! I need to finish that, wash it and get it ready for the 4th of Sept. I'm looking forward to being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Part Of The Day With Mom

This morning I was up and going through all the things I needed to do. I started out my lists of what I needed to do.

While I was downstairs getting stuff together for Sandy and Georgie, I played with the design for this panel. Don't look at the background because that will probably be white. I'm thinking that I might go ahead and have a strip of red - like where the red is on here. The funny part is that the red on here wasn't enough on my thought. That was strips that I had extra of. I will do a different red that I have more fabric for.

So, it started out with getting everything ready. Then it was out the door. First stop was at Staples to get the package out with the quilt for QOV. It's on the way today. I then stopped at Georgie's to give her some fabric for more blocks. Next stop was moms. I decided not to go to the shop first because she needed to pick up her backing as well.

Arrived at moms and she said Daisy hadn't gotten her walk in. So, we took Daisy out - in the rain - where I ended up borrowing dads coat.

Mom was drying off Daisy when we got back. It was so funny! She loves it.

We got back and then headed over to the quilt shop. I bought the white on white pattern. I actually changed my mind when I saw another pattern Rita had.

This is so pretty! It's on white. It's not on the off white. I told mom to take that to Kathy's to get it basted for me. Not like I need something else to do, but I would like to quilt on this. I am in the mood to hand quilt....but not on a pieced top. Love this new pattern.

After the quilt shop I stopped at Sandy's work to give her some fabric for pillow cases. Then we went back to moms and watched TV while we both worked on the bindings of 2 of the panel quilts. About 1:15 pm mom had to leave to go to her physical therapy. So, I headed home.

Got home and played the CD audiobook. I played a few games and then I got supper going. I had to go to Safeway before getting home. So, I had to put all the meat away in the freezer.

This even we had our Wednesday night bowling meeting. We start on Sept 4th. The secretary - that doesn't do secretary work - is getting paid 75 cents per person. That's a bit much!! I really hate that because she doesn't do the work. Now she is getting paid more than any other secretary in the leagues.

Now I'm home and I need to get my exercises done. I also had to call and make an appointment for another breathing test.....it's almost getting too funny!

At least today was a day I can say I was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Got Behind

I just realized I hadn't blogged in 2 days. Once I forget one day, the next think I know I'm 3 days behind. So, today is going to have 2 blogggings, 1 now and 1 later today.

Yesterday is about as far as I remember, so will chat about that. Even then...let's see what I remember....

The day started out pretty good. No appointments, no this or that. Just needed to do laundry, so got that going. Then I played on my games. I have really been hooked on the game "Lilly's Garden" for the past 2 weeks. I love that game. So, all my other games are behind because this one is more fun. Plus I really do believe it's a stress relief.

I got so many texted! One was that my adopted son is having surgery on the 10th, and I will be helping him out there. The next was that my family - a branch of - is having a reunion in Port Orchard, this weekend. Then there was a lot more before the morning was over.

I called mom about today, and told her I would be over at the usual time. Then I checked my email to find out I still hadn't sent the photo of the quilt we can send for the WWII Veterans that are being honored up north. Diane came back with one of the photos and said they wanted that quilt. So, I had to run over to the museum to get it. Got home and boxed it up. Check on the USPS website for prices - $28, and then went to UPS website and signed it. It cost me $20 to mail. So, I got the label and everything ready. It's being mailed today.

I sat and beaded while working on tomato sauce and bread. I went and got a LOT of tomatoes from the garden - and didn't even put a dent into it! Then I started cooking it - all day. It was okay, but then I added some sugar (a bit much!) and now it's sweet. Oh, well, I'll make another batch later. We froze that one.

So, this cooked and I beaded.

It's coming along. This is about row 80. I've really been having fun working on this. Once would think I would get bored with it, but I haven't so far. I do about 1-4 rows each time I sit down. It works for me.

Oh, I know what I did on Monday - it was BE day! Our group got together at Whalen Quilt Works and I didn't have any of my projects with me. So, I took the package of the Shibori Butterfly pattern and cut out the butterfly. Then I sat and chatted. Nothing exciting.

So, I was able to be (for 2 days) Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Almost Forgot To Post

This morning I made some really good cinnamon rolls.  Not what I needed but was hungry for.

Then Patrick started cutting the apples from our tree. He said it wasn't a good year for the apples.  We dehydrated some. Then I worked on making apple sauce.  We got a few containers but not many. Those went into the freezer.  We do like having some apple sauce fresh from the trees. Plus I know what I put into it.

After all that, I beaded and Patrick slept on the swing on the deck.

I am now on row 78. It's coming along but when you consider it takes about 40 minutes for each row. That depends on what all I'm doing at the time.

After supper we headed to our bowling meeting and it starts on September 8th. So we will be having a break for awhile. Then we went to pick up my fair stuff. Mom was wrong on the quilt.  It didn't get best of class but it did get a blue ribbon. All my stuff got a blue ribbon. The rose got an honorable mention.  The other got blue but the paper said 1st and blue plus. Only a blue was on it. No worries,  I didn't enter it for the ribbons, I entered it for the interest in Brazilian embroidery.

There was another quilt there with the panel as well. I was surprised and at first thought that was the quilt.  I was disappointed they had my name on them and not QOV.

I completely forgot to write how today went! As I lay here in bed....ready to fall asleep......it dawned on me I forgot something!

At least it was a good day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

This Is Saturday!

I actually slept through the night, with one exception - Sophie decided at 12:35 am that she needed a little TLC. So, she climbed up on me, put her head on my elbow and then reached out to my hand. So, I ended up petting her till she was happy to leave.

I got back to sleep to wake up before Patrick. Then played a few games. Sophie slept on the couch, till I was ready to go work on my beading. Then she wanted her TLC. So there was another hour of giving her some TLC.

Once all that was done, and Patrick in the meantime was either outside or off to work, I was setting up to bead. Of course when I pulled the top (cookie sheet), I pulled the fabric and ended up taking a good 45 mins upping the beads back into the places they belonged. Once all that was done, I was able to get moving on beading.

I'm at row 75 or 76. So, I'm coming along great. Of course it wasn't my day because I broke another bead when I was getting new thread going. So, I had to start the thread and then go and replace the bead where it was. I hope I did it right. It looks like I did. I'm hoping there won't be a hole in that area, but I will check it out when I go back on the next row. I do like the way it's coming along.

Patrick came in and wanted to know if I wanted to go to the movies. I wasn't feeling good, had a headache, but decided I wanted to go anyway. We went to "Angry Birds2." Which I really liked! It was a good movie! I laughed several times. Patrick didn't like the graphics but I didn't mind. I really enjoyed it.

After we got home, I decided to pull out my cross stitching. Patrick put "Fast and Furious" on and we watched TV.

I was able to get over 100 stitches done. I finished up the blue on the left. I started working on the next set of 100, and then ended up ripping out what I put in. I finally figured out what I did wrong and was starting to replace what I needed to get it done.

I'm so thrilled to be getting back to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another "I Wonder" Day

Today I was up early. We didn't walk this morning, so I was mopping the floor and vacuuming. Sophie wasn't too thrilled with me, she took off down the hall.

Then it was time go to lunch with Cherry. We went to Sweet Inspirations downtown. We got back at a good time.

I then tried to figure out what I wanted to do. I went downstairs and looked at my panel board.....well that didn't do me any good....couldn't make up my mind. I cleaned up the sewing area. Then I thought more......coming to the conclusion that I needed to put the binding on the quilt I got last week.......went upstairs and brought it downstairs.

I decided to cut the binding at 2". That worked out.....so I thought. Then when I put it on, I realized I needed to have cut it at 2 1/2" or 2 1/4" but I didn't. So.......

I ended up going back and cutting the "extra" seam area off. I now have to trim it again. Oh, well. Next time I should do what I thought I needed to do and now what I figured would work.

It lays better after cutting it. I'll be sewing this up. At least I got started.....then Patrick called saying he was on his way home.....and could I be ready to go out to eat......didn't even get 2 corners done. So........now I have the other 2 to finish this weekend.

I realized my grievance councilor was asking me to see her Monday at 4:40 p.m. I thought she was talking about the 26th........and I called the museum saying I needed someone to close for me. NOW I have to call back and tell her that I don't need anyone to close for me, because I got my days mixed up.....UGH!!

So, most of my day was "Should I.....What will I......I wonder......and...Oh CRAP! At least I didn't plan my day, but then it didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. I'll have to work on this. At least I can say I was (for a little while) Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

Spending The Day With Mom

Today started our really early again. I can't seem to sleep lately. But that seems to be about every 3rd day and then I get an awesome sleep on the 4th.

I was out the door to moms. She wanted to go up to Olympia with me. I got there before her and Daisy were done with their walking. I got on her POGO account and played a few games while I waited. When she got back, she paid her cleaning lady and then was dinking around. We finally got out the door. Got the Kaiser around 11 am. I was hoping to get up there sooner, but it didn't work out. Once I got my shot, then we were off to Bill and Sharon's.

At Bill and Sharon's, it was a long hour. We were then a lot longer then I planned. Sharon had us stay and have a piece of pie. That ended up being a chatting section. I got up to leave, but then Sharon and I talked about the beading and mom and Bill were chatting about the quilting. We were done chatting before them and had to wait on them to finish. Then it was 2 blocks down the road to Costco.

Mom and I were shopping for stuff mom wanted. We went through the store and mom got what she needed. It was another hour. Then mom said she was hurry but didn't want to wait in line at Costco for lunch. So, we talked about doing Chinese food, but then it was already 1:00 PM. So, we decided to do the drive thru of Dairy Queen. We got the 2 for $4 stuff. I got the cheeseburgers, and mom got the chicken with a sundae. We took that back to her house, and we were looking at 2 pm but then.

I spend the rest of the day with mom. Then finally made it home around 4:00 pm. So, really didn't get anything done. It wasn't my day to get anything done.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be different, but Cherry wants to go to lunch tomorrow. We'll walk in the morning and then go to lunch....that's my morning gone. I will TRY to get something done tomorrow, but lately my life is way too busy! UGH UGH UGH

Tomorrow is another day.....Maybe a day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Enjoying A Day Of Beading

This morning I was up early. I had one of my best nights of sleep yet.

I started out with a walk, then came back home and got laundry going. Once that was started, I sat down and beaded. I even had the Audiobook going. I love listening to a story while I'm beading.

I was able to get to 71 rows. I was surprised at how fast it was going today. I roll it so I can work on it.

After supper and while Patrick had his shows on, I beaded another 2 rows. I'm now at 73/446.

Today I was pretty lazy when it came to doing any work around the house. Really wasn't filling all that great, so working on my beading was relaxing and actually had my mood up. It felt good to get some beading done. I've been wanting to for a couple days.

This week is fair week. I have no clue how the stuff I put in the fair did. I really don't want to go to the fair, so I'll just have to wait till I go get my stuff on Sunday. We have a bowling meeting on Sunday, so will swing by after the meeting is over.

Things are looking up! I'm Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Day To Be Busy

This morning I was surprised that I slept till 8:30 am. Good thing I didn't have to be up in Olympia till 11 am.

Went to my counseling meeting. this morning. I was surprised at how well it went. I will be going back in a couple weeks.

On my way back I stopped at Dairy Queen and picked up an ice cream sundae. Then I called Patrick and asked if he would spend about 10 mins with me. Took the sundae over to him and we shared it. It was a good visit with him at his work. We talked a little. It felt good.

Came home and turned my CD on to a new book. Then I sat and got another row done on the beading. It's now at 68/446 rows. I also got the laundry going.

The day was busy and I didn't get much done. Tomorrow is "my day." I'm looking forward to that. It was a very small day to do crafts. But at least I was (for a little while) Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Spending The Day At The Museum

Today I was spending the day at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis. That is an awesome museum because the personal parts of the displays. I always see something new and I'm told the cases change from time to time, so one doesn't see the same thing every time they go. We had about 28 people go through today. That's pretty good when one figures the average day is about 15. We have programs that are in there as well, so that brings more people. I think our QOV also brings in more people. We even get people to come back later to see the museum. They are allowed to see the museum when they are awarded a quilt.

When I got home, Sophie has been keeping an eye on me.

I was going through the boxes of letters, genealogy information, and books that mom gave me. I was looking for Orville's other papers and things, that I have SOMEWHERE. I didn't find that but I did find a box of letters. So, I had Patrick bring it in and I went through 2 tubs and 1 box of letters. Of course, Sophie had to climb in all three to see what was going on! I found more letters from great granddad White and letters from my grandfather's brother Irvin. So, now I have more to write about them. I will try and do more letters on the other blog, now that I have the older letters to work with. I was getting into the 1960's and I really want to get as many of the letters before 1950 as I can. I may work on them tomorrow.

Wish at times I had an unlimited amount of time to work on things. Life isn't that easy. So, today was not a day of stitching but it was a day of going through stuff. I will be sending a lot of stuff to my 2 brothers once I get to that point.

I'm hoping tomorrow will bring a day of Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Actually Enjoyed The Day

Today I slept in. I was shocked at how late it was when I got up. Patrick actually got up before me by about 15 mins.

I got some laundry going - and forgot about it - but I'm still working on it. It's comical here.

Then after playing games, we watched a movie - "2 Fast and 2 Furious." Different then I thought, but not bad. Not a movie I would go see. Not into car movies.

I decided since Patrick wanted to watch a movie, I would work on my cross stitching instead of beading today.

This is the dress of one of the people in this piece. It's coming along great. I'm getting on track with this piece. I like how it's coming along.

I had to cut the batting and backing for another quilt for Faye. I have it ready and will take it with me tomorrow when I work at the museum. She's going to come and pick the quilts up and the batting backing.

Today all in all was a good day. I cleaned out another couple boxes of stuff mom gave me. I have a lot to go through. There was a box of letters that her Uncle wrote to my great grandmother. There were letters to his half brother in there with it. He had so many hopes of what he would do when he came back home from WWII. I just couldn't help but feel for him. He loved his mother and his wife - that he married before he left - and gave up on another gal. He talked about getting a garage in LaGrande, OR and saving money. My heart bleeds for him, because he died within a few months of coming back to the states. He was stationed in Texas, and was getting ready to get out when he found out he had a brain clot that they couldn't fix. I believe he was great grandmother's favorite.

Life is life, we live and we die. But those of us that keep going, can't seem to understand it. Then again, what is there to understand? The good die young, and I still feel for them. I'm working on accepting death, but at the same time, I'm a little afraid of it.

Okay, today was a good day! I really did get through this day with happy thoughts. I was thrilled to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another Saturday Has Gone By

Today I was up early....because I slept like crap!

I fed Sophie, but she didn't come out. I waited for her, because she was always greeting me in the morning. No show. Patrick got up and Sophie wasn't there either. I went down the hall to see where she was, and she was sleeping behind the door. I couldn't believe she didn't come out. She meowed at me, and stayed there till Patrick came out of the room. Then she decided to join us.

Once Patrick was up, we were out the door to Costco. We picked up a few things and got a couple things for Phil. On the way home we stopped at Phil's and dropped off the goodies. Then we headed home. Once all that was put away, I enjoyed a couple hours of beading.

I'm now on the 67/446 row.

I'm really liking the way it's coming along I think it's going along great now. At least there aren't any broken beads. That's a big help. I found a couple of the beads I was working with that had a chip in them. I saw that before I put it in the piece. I need to keep my eyes open when I place the beads in the piece.

Then after supper it was time to go bowling. I did a little better this time with the new ball. I bowled better tonight. I did get a 156 game in but the others were better. Patrick beat me series wise by only about 2 pins. He wasn't having a great night, but he did bowl a 195. I was 176, 156, 169.

I was glad to have a day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Visiting A Friend

This morning I was up and ready to go. I didn't leave that early but I did leave around 9 am. I went to Safeway to pick up a pie for Sharon and Bill. Then I was on the road to their place.

Since they live in Olympia, it is a ways to get there. I know she likes it when I come up, but it's hard for me to find the time to go. I have so much on my plate, that I just can't seem to visit everyone that wants me to come see them.

Bill has lost some weight and was looking okay. I'm a little worried about him, because he's not doing all that good. He worked on my quilt while I was there. He left for an appointment while Sharon and I were beading. She fixed my bead that was broke, and she helped me with getting the replacement in. She did all the work while I watched. I need to cut my threads closer to the beading so they don't show through. Then I took out one more row to get to the other bead that broke. I was able to put that in and get moving again. At first we were trying to figure out what row I was on. I finally figured it out and got the row back in. I'm now on 65/446. I will start 65 when I pull my beading back out of the bag and get started on it.

This is Sharon's finished piece.

This is where she is on the Snowman piece I bought. The pattern is under the piece. It's really pretty in true life.

I told Bill about getting Best of Class with our quilt. That seemed to perk him up. He was wondering which one it was. He asked a few questions about it. I told him what I knew. I also told him I would bring him the ribbons that were won. He was happy about that.

I then headed home to find traffic was traffic! It was going along great, then it slowed to a stop, then it would pick up, and then we would stop all over again. Not my favorite thing going on. I got off at Harrison in Centralia and took the back roads, till I got by Patrick's work and then got back on the freeway. Even the back roads were stop and go. I had to wait on the light for 3 changes. So, all in all it took an hour compared to 40 mins. I brought back Faye's quilts as well. I'll hook up with her later this week.

We went out to eat. I didn't care for my food, but I like the place we went to. I will not get chicken fried steak there again! The gravy was awful as well as the mashed potatoes. I did like the meat. I ate some beans and the strings were still on them....I almost cocked on those. Patrick had a good steak. Like we said, it's always good to "try something new" and I did, but I swear I will not get that again! I should have gotten the hamburger I wanted to get when he asked me where I wanted to go. Oh, well.

Came home and played some games. I was tired after a long day. Driving up to Olympia, sending the day with Sharon, and then driving all the way back....I just wanted to sleep!

So, I can't complain, I was actually Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another "Planned" Day

Had my list and was ready to go.

First it was off to the fair to drop off the "Veterans Memorial Museum QOV" tags that were to go on the 2 quilts I entered. Kathy grabbed me before I left and asked if I could help a gal with judging knitting. I told her I had no clue what she needed to do but I would be interested in "scribbing" for her. We worked on the first 6 items and then the gal came that was supposed to help her. I was there an hour (a lot longer than I planned on being there). Gave mom as hug and left after an hour. Mom was judging the quilts.

I was then off to Olympia to get my blood drawn and get my B-12 shot. I ended up giving 9 viles of blood today!! I couldn't believe it!

Then it was back home. I stopped at Safeway for milk and some lunch. Got home and realized I didn't stop and let Daisy out like I told mom I would. So, I got back in the car and went to let her out. Then I came back home - again not really what I planned. If I would have remembered to stop - that would have been great....but NOPE this brain didn't think it was important enough to remember.

I then turned the CD audio book on and listened while I worked on my beading.....WELL, that's another story! I put a good 2 rows in, and one of the beads broke as I was changing threads. UGH! Then I noticed I was off on my rows. I think I skipped a couple rows.

I was taking out and putting the beads in the right piles.

4 Rows later....and I still have 2 more rows to go. That would get me to the broken bead. Might as well keep going since I had to take out 4 or more rows. What a pain in the rear!

I will be going to Sharon's tomorrow, so I will work it out then. She's going to show me how to fix the broken beads. I have another one that's a ways up there. I hope we can figure it out.

When mom got home she called me to tell me the panel quilt that I made with her stars got "best of class" award. I think that's cool! I'm happy with that. It's going to have the QOV sign on it. Then I asked how my embroidery did and she said she forgot to go and look. I was a little surprised that there wasn't much this year compared to last year.

I really can't say I was Happy Stitching because I was taking everything out. But I can say, I wish I was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!!

Presentation Day

Today I was up early and enjoying the day. I started out with getting everything in the car. I had a long list of stuff I needed to do today.

I went to Walmart to get photos printed for our album. Then I had to go get something to drink while I was on my way to the museum. I was a good hour and a half early. That's okay with me. I worked on getting the photos in the album and putting names to the photos. Then I got some of the stuff marked and set up for the presentation. Faye came early and she helped me pick out the quilts for the meeting. We have 5 other quilts ready for either the next presentation or the one after. We need to get the panels done.

Toby finally came to get his quilt. He was so surprised we found the fabric for this quilt. He really did like it. I'm happy because I made it for him.

This was Dennis Fox and his quilt. He's an awesome gentleman that I was in contact with the whole time. Come to find out he is related to my friend from travel league. She showed up and it was so nice to see her! We had fun.

Then I headed out and went to the fair to drop off the quilts and my embroidery. I got some interested comments on my embroidery. I gave them the judging guidelines for Brazilian embroidery too.

Then I headed over to Judy's and dropped off one of the quilts that was dropped off at the museum. I also gave her some fabric to see if anyone wanted it.
t wasn't a day that I could be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

One Of Those Days To Organize

Today I was up early. I got out and walked with Cherry by 9 am.

Then came back and got laundry going, then got started on QOV stuff. I got the certificates done. Before that I baked Patrick's dessert. I had to make him some dessert because he was whining that he didn't haven anything good to eat after supper or later at night.

I washed the 3 quilts, then I finished the last 2 that needed labels. They are all set to take to the museum tomorrow.

Here are a few of the quilts I put labels on.

This one Bev did for her brother.

This is one that was donated.

It was a busy day with getting everything done.

I even worked on my bookkeeping and got frustrated because I couldn't get it to balance. Then I figured out what I did - about an hour later. UGH.

At least today I was happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Brazilian Embroidery Meeting...And More

This morning I was up on time. I called Cherry and she wasn't going to the meeting because of her gardeners. She is a retired school teacher and I found that she likes all her ducks in a row. She wants to make sure everything goes the way it's supposed to, so she stays home to make sure they do the job right. I can't complain, because in today's world, you almost have to keep on it.

I got things ready and out the door I went. I was there before everyone else. I chatted with Rita on how Donna was doing. She's doing pretty good from what I hear. I worry about her because she's dealing with cancer.

We had 7 of us show up. We talked about Seminar and getting a dye class. So, I have to get with Alice and see if we can use Oakview Grange for the dye class. I'll try Alice again tomorrow. Sandy shocked me, she brought me Chai Tea in a mug with a cat on it. Looks so much like Sophie! I love the mug! Now I have 3 cat mugs. I love it!

I worked on "Rose in Winter" piece. It's "A Candle in the Cellar" pattern. I really like the piece. It's coming along great. I'm happy with it.

Came home - didn't need to make any side trips - and got to work on QOV stuff. I need to do the certificates tomorrow. I worked on getting the labels on the quilts. I finished the label on the quilt Bev did for her brother. I then put 2 more labels on the quilts that were donated to the museum. I had to put "Unknown Chehalis Quilt Group" on who made it because the gal hasn't returned my messages. I started the label for another quilt and will have it done by tomorrow. Will take photos of the 3 quilts I did today. The 2 I'm adding labels on have already been photographed. We have plenty for our Aug presentation in 2 days.

Cherry and I finally walked about 7:30 pm. So, that took an hour because 30 mins of that was her chatting to me. I was trying to leave, but she wanted to chat. That's okay. Now I'm just sitting her thinking of what I need to do to be on top of everything. I called Faye earlier today and we are ready. We still are working on Sept's quilts. I need to get moving on that!!

It's been a day of Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Getting A Few Things Going

This morning we slept in. I couldn't believe how late I slept but then again, I didn't go to bed till midnight. lol

I did my usual morning ritual of playing games. Then it was time to get laundry going. I also entered 2 QOV quilts and my 2 embroidery pieces in the fair. Now I just take them to the fair on Wednesday.

I decided to get moving and work on my beading.

I am now at 60/446 rows. It's coming along. I'm getting there. At least we can see the bird. It's really pretty.

While I was beading, I got bread going.

Gave the neighbors half. It was good, but Patrick didn't think he could eat it all this week. I'm okay with that because I'll make another one later. I may do a garlic bread next. Then we can have spaghetti with meatballs this week. I'm okay with that.

I am now ready to do my cross stitching. Life is good. I''m Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Today Is Saturday.....WooHoo

Today I was able to sleep in. I actually slept last night. That felt good this morning.

Then we headed out to Safeway for grocery shopping. We were able to get a few things we needed. I couldn't believe I bought the wrong flour. I was in need of all-purpose flour and got another bag of bread flour. Guess I better get moving on making bread! After unloading, I head out to the museum.

We were there to honor Ret. Lt Col Travis Wofford. We stayed to hear the speech and then we honored him with a QOV quilt. He was teary eyed when we did. Mom talked to him and then I went to chat with him. When I told him she was my mother, he looked at me and said, "It's hard isn't it?" I got teary eyed and said, "Yes, it is." He held my hand for a long time. It felt good to have him hold my hand and comfort me.

Came home and had supper. Then we were out the door again. Patrick had worked all afternoon while I was at the museum. So, we were now off to bowling. My thumb was ready to bowl again. I bowled crappy! I bowled a 158, 155, and I didn't pay any attention to the last one. I had 110 in the 8th, so I wasn't happy with that! Patrick bowled really good. He is having trouble with his new bowl and it doesn't break like he wants it to. I agree, that bowling ball isn't for him.

So, it was NOT a day to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

What A Day

This morning I was up early. Then I was getting ready to head to moms but got a call from the coordinator of WA's QOV. We chatted for over 30 mins. She's an awesome lady! I couldn't get into the program that helps me keep track of the quilts and veterans. We both have the same ideas for QOV. We both have groups that do the bright colors of quilts and don't do the darker colors.

Then it was time to leave, and I was already late. I had planned (YEA I KNOW!) to go to the library and then stop to get a Chai Tea......ouch. Instead, I drove down the road and saw that all the power was out....called mom and she said the power was out at her place as well. So, I drove through both towns in the dark - not really but you get the idea. I couldn't go to the library or Starbucks because there was no business in the dark. Oh, well.

Poor Ethel, her apartment still has bed bugs. She's still living with her son for awhile. I went and got her the information for an apartment at Stillwaters. They have a long waiting list. I was told 75 people are waiting for an apartment. I told Ethel to put the application in anyway.

I worked on my binding. Then I started to  put the label on the back. I asked Bev if she wanted to give the quilt to her brother on the 7th. She said yes she would like that or an eagle. Told her the eagles are in Sept and that's full.

I just need to finish the one side of the label.

Came home and listened to the CD before Patrick got home. I wanted to do the beading, but instead I put the slides that was in my box, into boxes. I'm taking them back to moms and she can buy the CD's that the slides will be transferred to. I'm not spending any more money on those photos. I have the negatives from my grandparents but I don't want the negatives from when we were younger or the ones that dad did. I have boxes ready to go to my brothers. I am giving them the opportunity to decide if they want them or if they want to throw them out. I'm so tired of getting this stuff and having to decide what to do with it. If I wasn't doing genealogy, I would just throw it all away. But I end up going through it and taking out what I need.....and that takes WAY too much time. I have 2 more boxes to go through and mom said today I have another box in the garage.

After Patrick got home we went to the movie, "Hobbs & Shaw." It was really good. It's the first one we went to. Patrick said there are other movies of those 2. Scott told Patrick there are 8 movies. I guess we have a few movies to see to get caught up.

So, at least today I can say I was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Enjoying My Beading

This morning I really didn't want to get out of bed, but I did.

I played a few games than I sat down to work on my beading.

I'm having too much fun with this. It's really coming to life now. I listened to my CD's and finished another book. I won't be able to work on this tomorrow because I'm heading over to mom's for quilting.

Patrick came home early and we headed to Olympia. I got my B-12 shot and then off to get my CT scan done. Once that was done - less than 15 mins! - we headed out. We heard there was an accident around mile post 97, which is one the way home. We took the back roads to get home. It was funny because we couldn't remember which way dad went but we figured it out on the way back. It only took about 20 mins more time wise. We saw a lot of cars coming off the freeway.

We stopped at Arby's to eat. Then came home. I went through one of the boxes that was brought home for me to go through. Most of it goes to my brother, so I'm going to get a box ready for him. I have a few things for my nephew and older brother. I really don't want most of this. I did keep some pictures of my dad's family. I'll add them to my family history.

So, at least today had some fun being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

An Early Start

This morning, Patrick was up at 6 am. I followed around 6:25 am. lol We were ready and out the door by 7 am to get to Patrick's oncology...
