Was Busier Then Normal Today

Today, was a quiet day. Didn't have anything planned for, other than my game. I played it and then I went downstairs to work on getting Patrick a hot/cold bag like the one we had that needs to be replaced. I didn't realize how big I made it and had a heck of a time with the rice. I did get it done and kind of wish I had made it smaller.

It has a pocket as well. I believe it's 16" square. He didn't need one that big. Plus, it's heavy! I put the thermal batting in the other side of the pocket, which made it even heavier. I may try and make a smaller one later on. I just did if off the seat of my pants. It was hard to get the rice to be equal in each square. So, it's a little off.

I then started to work some more on the quilt, but didn't get far.

Then I came upstairs to bake the bread I made. It turned out pretty good. I was also listening to my book. But had to stop since Patrick said our shows weren't on and he wanted to watched "Oklahoma" since he hadn't seen it. That was interesting. It's got the weird dance routine in the middle of it. Almost as bad as "White Christmas'" dance scene in the middle.

Sophie was checking out the paperweight I put up by the TV.

While we watched "Oklahoma," I worked on the cross-stitch Santa. I finished with the staff. I started outlining and fixing what I missed. I'm still working on it, but hope to finish it tomorrow. It would be nice to have another project finished.

So, I can say, today was both Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Casino And Beads

This morning, we went to Colleen's to drop off more garage sale stuff. She gave me a couple things too. I picked up another quilt, which will help on our count. I'm still waiting to hear from one of our quilters to see if she wants to quilt another quilt.

We then went to the casino. We played a couple hours. When we were ahead about $200, we decided to quit and come home. I think we were getting a little tired of playing. Now we are thinking of going on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays. Not sure if it will make a difference. I really don't want to go 3 x's just to get the money they give us. Plus, the gifts are on Tuesday. This time it's picnic stuff. I told Patrick I'm okay with not getting those. We get extra money on Wednesday, so we may just go on Wednesday and call it good. We will see.

Came home and I cleaned up a little. Then I pulled out all my beads and boxes. I wanted to get them organized again. I took off the older stickers that had the bead numbers and put on new ones. I had a couple times where I didn't see the beads and missed them. Then I had to fix that but pulling off the sticker and putting it on in the right box. Not fun.

Sparked some interest and she wasn't happy with me telling her to get away. She was watching me cut the tags and then peeling off the backs. She loves those backs, and I have found her eating them in the past. So, I just wouldn't let her help. Not happy.

Got the attitude when I pulled out my camera. She hates getting her picture taken when it's a pose. It's fun to mess with her!

I put my beads on the table to work on. I figure if I have it there, I will get back to working on her piece. I'm halfway, so I should get my butt in gear and work on it.

Even though I wasn't actually stitching, I was getting my beads in order. So, I'm thinking I can say I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Spent Most Of The Day With Mom

This morning, I just took a little time to relax before heading over to moms. I arrived around 10:30 am. We talked and she gave me stuff to drop off at Colleens. I put the stuff in the car. Then we talked about quilts for QOV. I told her we are short on tops. So, she decided she would help. She likes to do 9-patches and I have her 2 ideas with 9-patches. One is the disappearing 9-patch, and the other is a variegated (sp) 9-patch. At noon I asked if she wanted to leave or what a half hour. She said wait a half hour. Of course, she wanted to cut some white 4 1/2" squares to get her started. Then she needed me to look up a watch band for her IWatch. That took a while. Had to clean her IWatch to find out the size she needed. After we talked about it, she decided she was going to think about it. Since Carmen had one, she wanted one. But they offered 3 for the price she was okay with. She didn't want 3 of them, and I told her she could change them out. She didn't like that either. So, after a while she decided not to get it.

We finally left at 1 pm to get to Bill and Bee's. It was busy but the gal there was really nice and helped us out a great deal. She took the order and waited on us. That usually doesn't happen. We chatted, then came back to her place. Pam (next door) was out, so mom had to chat with her. We worked on the Rhodie in the front yard. Mom was happy with that. Then she asked me to trim the tree a little.

First year it's bloomed so well. I trimmed off the one on the top and one on the side. She was happy with that. Then I came home. On the way in the car, I must of sneezed 10 times! I think that tree and I don't agree with each other.

Got home and just played on my games. I didn't feel like doing anything or even eating anything. I was full. So, I fixed Patrick pancakes and ate some nuts while he had his pancake.

I was yawning all night. So, I'm ready to call it a night. I wish I could have felt like being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Best Laid Plains

This morning, Patrick left for a haircut (thank goodness). I stayed home and played for a bit. Then he came home to head out again. He went to Phils and then moms to fix her quilt frame - and may need to go back and fix it again. It's over 100 years old and someone already messed with it. He couldn't fix it, so he cut the screws off. Now if you wanted to put the feet back on, you can't. So, it's messed up. I don't think there is anything old in moms how that they didn't mess with. Damaged my cabinet that grandmother took such good care of. When I got it, the leg was broken, and the wood was damaged. I can't even find someone to restore it. So, after 4 generations, that another think that isn't worth much. Breaks my heart mom and dad didn't take care of stuff.

I watched a couple of the first season of CSI. I used to be able to watch that, now I'm finding that I stop looking when it comes to the close up of the bodies. UGH

My beads arrived today. I need to work on that as well.

I washed the embroidery bonsai tree. Now I'm waiting for it to dry. Once that is done, I can continue to finish it.

I wanted to work on something today, like finish my cross-stitch staff. I wanted to work on my beads that came in. I wanted to consider working on the quilt downstairs. The temp outside rises and I'm still considering what to do.

Now I'm thinking of genealogy. I seriously need to get my head checked! I will let you know how it goes, when I come back and finish this blog. lol

UPDATE:

After typing the blog, I worked on family history. I found it odd that I had people in there that really didn't belong, so I deleted them. I checked on a few others, and I wasn't able to figure out where they went. So, I gave up on it. I was working Patrick's family. Since I had a rating of 82%, I checked the ones they said I needed to fix. Two of them were my generation with no information. How the heck am I supposed to fix that when there isn't anything but what was told to me or in a census record. But then these didn't even have that. I got the information out of the book I was researching. They didn't have any information. So, it's a mute cause.

Then I gave up and went to watch TV. I watched a couple things on Disney. Then I went to BritBox and watched a different cop show. I started it and Patrick walked in. So, he ended up watching it with me. Had to take the break and eat, then went back to it.

I worked on my cross stitch for a bit.

My problem is where they meet at the bottom left. I will see what I can do to round it off. I seriously don't want to take out more of that gold thread. It's a pain in the butt! So, I am going to see how I can fix it to look round. I have to fill in a few areas on the top, but it should be done soon. I still hate this! But in the long run, no one will know but me. If someone wants to point out my mistakes they can have them.

Gave up at this point and decided to work on the embroidery piece. Since both need to be finished, I can do them at the same time, as long as they get done!

I fixed the hair. The knot on the guy's head isn't very clear, but he has more hair than she does. Her hair was easier to attach.

Then I went looking for the beads Judy sent me. I needed to add them in the base. Once this is done, I will be finished with it. I added beads between some of the moss because I didn't like the look of a base having moss and empty areas where the beads should be. I've seen others work and found it odd to not put beads in there. I will go over it again, and I may end up adding more beads between the moss. I do like the colors that Judy picked out for the piece, and I think it will work great. It's time consuming, but in the long run will be well done.

So, even though it was HOT today, I worked on something. I was happy to finally get off my butt and get some stuff done. Playing on the tablet was on my mind, but I needed a break for a bit. That game get's time consuming as well and can stress me out. I even had plans last night of what I wanted to do, which wasn't what I ended up doing. My best laid plans ended up in the trash - yet again. I still haven't learned to stop planning things! But today, I enjoyed sitting there and being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

It's A Casino Day

This morning, we took our time before leaving for the casino. We arrived and collected our ticket for the free bag. The bags we received so far were pretty nice. I like the backpack and tote the best. This one is a flat tool case. Not sure what to do with that. May give it to my daughter.

We placed Good Cents as that's the game we like the best. It's jackpot was at $6,200 by the time we left. I watched it go up $1500. Everyone was on it. We got so close! We had all 5 wilds but one was off. So, we missed it. We tried a couple other games and didn't do crap. So, we went back to play Good Cents. That machine seems to keep us playing longer than any of the other machines. The new machines are crap. Winnings are so small it's not worth it. It doesn't even give you your bet when you win. We have had bonuses and won nothing. So, we try and stay away from the new games.

On the way home, we stopped at moms. She's been trying to get the family to fix her frame. Since she's lost about 6" in height, she is too short for the frame. Patrick wanted to see if he could help her. He can, but he needs better tools, since mom doesn't have what he needs. He's going to go back tomorrow to help her out. I will see her on Thursday when we go to lunch together.

Came home and there wasn't any mail. I checked online and we were supposed to get about 7 things, so I marked them as not received. Patrick thought she was way too busy with the pile of mail, and I didn't think so. Either they didn't have a driver, or the gal just didn't deliver her mail.

I played on my tablet when we got home. I needed more time for stitching than I had, so just played my games.

It's been a pretty day, but hot. I was sweating there for a bit. Hopefully the sheets are cool, and I will enjoy climbing in them.

Tomorrow, I need to wash my embroidery. And I need to work on genealogy. I will try and do both. At least I had a good day, even though I didn't take time to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

One Of My Betters Day For Stitching

This morning, I was ready to leave for embroidery. I decided to get my Birthday free drink, so left early to get there. Thinking it would be busy. The road to DB was not busy at all. I ordered my tea, and they made it cold when I wanted it hot. So, I said, "It was supposed to be hot." Then I told them, it's okay, I will take that instead. The gal asked if I wanted it hot, and I told her I didn't want to waste the drink she made for me, and I do drink it cold. She said I could have them both, so I said, "Sure!" I ended up with 2 drinks instead of 1 and was thrilled.

Arrived at the garage first, about 30 minutes early. Sandy wasn't too far behind me. So, I was glad I wouldn't be waiting forever. I took my bag of buttons that needed to be gone through. Sandy helped me sort them out and get them ready to sale.

When I was done with that, I pulled out my bonsai tree to work on. I finished up the flowers on it, except the white ones.

And I finished up the red buds. I worked on a couple areas that needed more leaves. Then it was time to leave.

I stopped at Love's for gas. I have a gas app that said I would get .16 cents off gas. I decided I better get it now then. Gas in WA state is $3.99 and when the 6 cents is added for taxes, we will be the highest in the US. Sucks when my daughter gets gas for $3.29. I do believe more people will be leaving the state of WA at this rate. Taxes went up when the Govenor said he wanted the state reps to balance the budget without increasing taxes. After he got in, what does he do, raise the taxes. Off this subject!

Came home and I worked on the bonsai more - believe it or not! I was surprised but I wanted to get more done.

I worked on the leaves that I thought needed filled in. I added the white flowers - one on the left side and one close to the top of the tree between the 2 red buds. They were fun and easy to make. Then I added the hair. I had to brush the threads to get them like that. I will wash the piece first, then I will attach the hair done and add the beads around bowl. When the beads are done, then this is done. I'm so close I can taste it!

I tried to get closer to the head, but it wasn't easy. I remember Debbie Goff (her pattern) telling me I can use the needle and work it that way. That takes more patience than I have, so I didn't and won't do that. I think it looks okay. I will wash it to soften it up. I will also check the pattern to see how the hair is done for both of them. He has a knot on the top of his head and that will take some doing. But it was fun making the hair.

Now that I got this much done, I'm all fired up to get the rest of it done. It will be a bit of work, but I will have this done soon, I hope. One more project to put in the "done" pile. And it puts me in the mood to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Trying To Get This Done

This morning, I woke around 6 am with a headache. It's been a while since I have had a headache in the mornings. I hope it's not going to be common again. I didn't take anything for it, and when I woke up around 8 am, it was gone. So, I was glad about that.

Played my war game to get more points. It was hard since the jerk took my troops out last week. Really can't do much till I get my troops. I'm waiting to upgrade before I start adding more troops.

Then I fixed the last of the crab for a crab salad. I have it in the refrigerator to "taste" better once all the flavors work together. Should be good for tomorrow. Patrick went into town for some stuff to use on his back. He's having pain in the upper shoulders. He's a guy, so one can't tell them anything - they know what they are doing! So, I just watch. Three weeks later, he's still in pain. Oh, well. He's been sleeping on the couch because it seems to help.

I pulled out my cross stitching.

The bottom of the staff handle is a pain. I got it done. It's not exact, but I'm going to let it go for now. I worked my way up, and it's coming along fine. I had to take some stitching out UGH!! Because I did one too many stitches. Once I got that fixed, it worked out okay. I'm hoping to keep going in a positive way with this coming done to the bottom part. Fingers crossed. There really isn't a lot more to do, but I will say, it's not my best work and I'm disappointed with this gold thread. So, in the future, I will make sure I find something else that works just as good or better than this stuff did.

I'm just happy, I was able to get myself back to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Busy Day Of Fun

This morning, I worked on the laundry and cleaned the cat litter box, since I haven't done that lately.

While the laundry was going, I was working on getting the word chart done for the ornament. I finished the first panel and started on the next one.

I have it about halfway done now. I am around row 50. There are 83 rows, so I'm getting there. While I was working on this and decided I needed a break, I went through my frames for cross stitching.

Then I ended up getting the frame set up for this pattern. I had the fabric marked and even sewed on the fabric ends to use with the frame. So, I felt good about getting this set up. Didn't take long, it was just finding the frame that would work and not be to big.

Then I went and did a few more rows on the word chart. After another hour, I gave it up.

The next thing I knew I was pulling out beads for the Snowman ornament that will be done for my son, since he missed out that year. I also pulled out the beads for the poinsettia ornament I decided I'm going to make instead. At least this way I will have the word chart for the Pine Bunny and Deer ornament, next year.

Once dinner was over, I sat down to watch TV. Surprisingly, I wasn't on the tablet that much today. I wanted to get a few things done. So, I'm working on getting back to finishing a few things.

I am so frustrated with this part of the cross stitching. I hate the gold. I found that my stitches are off and that it's not going according to the pattern. At this point, I refuse to take out all that gold thread. I hate working with it as it is. I will do what I can to make it look like it's supposed to, and then I will work on the top part and hopefully get back on track. I really do hate this part. I thought I was doing good but ended up taking out a good portion of it and starting over, to find I wasn't any better at getting on track. So, I give up and it's going to look like it's supposed, just not getting done the way of the pattern.

As it turned out, today was a very good day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another Casino Day

I almost didn't go to the casino today. I woke with a headache and my stomach was telling me it wasn't happy with me. I called mom to tell her I wouldn't be going to her place. After a couple hours, things were better and Patrick was ready to go.

We stopped to visit with Phil first. I took him some more asparagus from the garden. Then we went to the casino. Things were tight, and we were down to our last $50 when I hit the jackpot of $1100! I couldn't believe it! So, we played a little longer and came home. We brought money home again. We talked about it, and believe we are staying "even" between what we have spent and what we have won. Not bad for 9 months of playing. We usually do that, then one in a while we lose some and decide not to play for a while. The longest we have been away from the casino is about 4 years. So, who knows, we may get back to that again.

We stopped at Safeway and picked up some supper as well as stuff we needed. They had snow crab on sale for $7 a lb. We got about 2 lbs and will have it for supper tomorrow. We go their friend chicken for tonight.

I played on my tablet for a while, while we watched TV.

Then I decided to sit and work on my word chart for this year's ornament. I need to get back to beading, since I just spend about $50 worth for beads. Most of it was for this ornament, so I'm not too worried. I want to get back to Sophie and her tapestry though.

I am about halfway there. I have 2 of the panels to do the chart on. So, it should go pretty fast. Normally I have 3 panels. I am thinking of changing the black to a light blue for sky. There is blue in the "snow" area, so I will think on what I want to do. I may make one and see if I like it. If not, I can always take it out. We will see where I go from here.

Thankfully, the headache is gone, the cramps are over with, and I'm still finding time to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Working Day

This morning, I went walking with Ron. He's slipping fast. I got mad at him when he was telling me about his middle son. I guess he's been showing up and taking over for him. He's not letting Ron have any say on what he wants. I told him he need to go to Vancouver to be with his oldest son who has the control. I'm afraid the middle son will have him sign something he shouldn't, and it will take away the control his older son has.  The middle son is a sneak and dishonest. Even Ron has said that. He's throwing a fit about Ron going to Vancouver, with "you don't love me" and BS like that. I hope I had him thinking and hopefully he will talk to his older son about it. I think he needs to be safe, and this isn't safe for him to stay here.

I decided I wanted to work on the family history some more. Today I worked on the ELDER family. I contacted another relative asking about his grandfather's middle name. He came back and thanked me for bringing it to his attention. That worked out for me. I added a lot more names. I added another branch of the family. The Elder's also came from Scotland. So, I have more Scottish in me than I thought. Might explain why I love to hear the bagpipes. lol

After I decided I was done, I ended up getting a reminder that I needed to be on a virtual meeting with the state coordinator in QOV. It was a good 2 1/2 hour meeting! UGH! It was more group leaders who like to talk and explained everything till it got old. I mostly listened. I guess Cindy came down to Mossyrock yesterday. Wish I was a fly on that wall.

When the meeting was over, it was already late. Good thing we really weren't hungry tonight, because I wouldn't have been able to eat. At least I was having fun Happy Hunting!

Genealogy Day For Me

This morning, I was walking with Ron and his grandson. We walked about 4 times around the neighborhood. Ron is slipping and I know his grandson sees it. He's spending a lot of time with him and getting things done. They came to take photos of the house to put on the market. I just wish I could afford it, but don't want to go back in debt for it.

I spend the afternoon working on the family tree. I started out fixing a couple of the MATHESON family and then went to check on my TAYLOR family since I am trying to figure out how someone is a cousin to me. I think it goes back to Robert Taylor, whom I can't get out of NY. I did find that we have Nelson in the family name, and wondering if the Nelson buried in NY is connected after all. So, I did some digging, and I worked on the Findagrave.com stuff as well. Added a couple names and worked on others. I did find that my Taylor family was in Menominee, WI around the time Patrick's family was there. I often wonder if they might have known each other. It would be fun to find out. I also wonder if there are family members buried up there in MI as well. I will keep working on it. Some of the family moved to CA, so I know I have the right contact information on one cousin.

After that, I decided to enjoy watching TV. We watched "Finding Your Roots," which I love watching. I keep hoping someone will have my family tree to theirs. Wishful thinking but would be fun if they did.

It's been a quiet day. Talked to mom and Georgie was there. She wanted mom to remind me to bring hummingbird patterns on Friday. I haven't told them I'm not coming on Friday. Too much is wanted of me between Georgie, Nancy and mom. I do need to get that stuff to Nancy and I will. Just not there yet. I don't want to dig for hummingbird patterns just yet either, so I'm not going to bother. Plus, Friday is casino day, and I'd rather go there.

I wasn't Happy Quilting, but I was Happy Digging!

Another Casino Day

Since it's Tuesday, and I get a free gift from the casino, we headed over there. I received a tote bag this time. I like it. May use it for groceries or my own personal use.

We played about 3 hours and came home with some money for Friday when I get "promo" money. We didn't seem to be into playing today, which was fine. We won, and we brought some money home. All in all, I think this year we have been ahead of the game.

Came home around 1:30 pm. It was raining. Patrick wanted to watch a movie, and I agreed. So, we started to and then remembered there was a documentary on the quilters in prison. I was amazed at all the work they do! Some of them have been in there for 20 years and more. They know what they did wrong, and they have accepted their fate. I thought of my cousin and know his in the same place they are in their hearts.

Then we watched a good movie of "Paddington Bear goes to Peru" which was really good. I enjoyed that. I was fun to watch and I do like those movies.

I worked on the staff while we watched TV.

I was able to get this much done, but there are mistakes in it. I'm to the point that I will do what I can to work around the mistakes because I will not take it out. I was taking half of it out earlier. I have it now where I can work around my mistakes. AND I don't think anyone will know the difference. This gold thread is AWFUL and I hate working with it. I'm just glad I could get this much done today considering.

Afterwards, I played on my tablet. I get tired of this part, and if I didn't have to have it, I wouldn't do it. lol

Mom called to tell me a very dear friend, that I knew when I lived in Germany, died in March. Diane McCoy was a very dear friend. I babysat her oldest son. She was about 10 years older than me, if not 8 years. I used to walk with her across the field at night to get her home. I had to cry on this one. May she rest in peace.

I'm having a hard time with all this. I've lost a lot of people I know lately. This year has brought on more death to my door than ever. Maybe, because I cried, it may help me move on. Mom took it well, but got emotional when she heard me get upset. I couldn't help it. I know that's life, and I know it happens. I have taken most of them calmly, but know it's affecting me. But today, I couldn't hold it back. The tears came and I'm still upset by it, but getting to accepting it. Life goes on, and I'm just a drop in the bucket. My bucket is losing water, but at the same time, there are drops of water going back in. So, I will work this out and move on. I need to!

At least I was able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Birthday Lunch

This morning, I slept in and realized I was running late. I told mom I would meet up with her at 11 am. Then when I realized it was 10 am, I was running around to get out of the house. Didn't make it till 10:30 of course.

I went to the bank and ended up waiting on the teller for a while. I went through drive thru and of course the car in front of me had a lot of questions. Why they didn't go into the back I have no clue. Then I headed to Rite Aid and ended up waiting 15-20 minutes on them finding the prescription I came for. They were going through every bag that was on the shelves. Everyone there was looking for it. The pharmacist was watching and asking it they checked ..... and of course they did. So, after close to 20 minutes, they found it in someone else's bag.  There wasn't any information on it, but that get thrown out anyway. I stopped at Phils to give him a book Patrick had. Then it was off to moms.

Arrived around noon. She wasn't ready yet, and said Georgie was coming. Georgie was there for me, and I didn't know it. When she came, she asked me questions, but I was helping mom get her quilt on the frame because she asked if I was leaving right away. When I said yes, she asked if I could give her 30 minutes. So, we set up her quilt in the frame. Mom then asked Georgie if she wanted to go along to Bill and Bea's for lunch, and she did. She had to go home and change, so we went to pick up Nancy, then to Georgie's. Found out Georgie left her stuff at moms, so after lunch we went back to moms after dropping Nancy off. Georgie wanted to know what to do with the pattern of a hummingbird she had. She's doing BE on it. I told her what I thought. Then after she and mom stopped talking, I took Georgie home and came home. It was 3 pm before I made it home.

Sat and enjoyed a few minutes, till Patrick reminded me I told Ron we would go walking. So, I called Ron, and we went walking. He was chatting with his son on the phone the whole time.

Got back in the house and it was already 6 pm. I didn't feel like eating so I passed on supper. Patrick had soup since he already ate the leftovers from last night.

Now, I'm beat and ready to sleep. I wish I could have been working on my quilt or something. Didn't work out for me to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

MY BIRTHDAY

Again, I was reminded of 45 years since the mountain blow, and I was 21 that day. I was even here and watched it blow.

Today was a quiet day, but was busy trying to make up for the Jack** that killed my troops while I was gone. He went after my whole alliance, and I'm about done with that. So, I'm going to clean them up!

Spent the day with Patrick napping and trying to get his neck back in shape. He's been in pain for about 3 days. It always seems to happen around my Birthday. Last year, he was having trouble with his taste buds. It's been hard the last couple years with his issue that are always on my Birthday. Oh, well, life goes on.

We went to the Outback for supper and had dessert there as well. It was awesome! The dessert that is.

Came home and went walking with Ron. He's getting ready to move. He's putting his house up for sale and it's more than we can afford. I would love to live there, but it wouldn't work out. I don't want to go back in debt for a nice house.

Now the day is over, and I pretty much did laundry rather than anything else. So, I'm going to call it done. And I didn't get the chance to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Visit With Debbie And Then Sewing

This morning, Debbie asked if I wanted to go to DB with her and go pick up the quilt from Colleen. I said sure. We got 75 extra points today at DB. So, I needed them.

She picked me up and we headed out. Stopped at Colleen's (after DB), then to the museum for my check. We had a good chat with Colleen and the quilt was ready to give out. When we got to the museum, brother Chris called and wanted to talk about Lisa's passing. At least he called to tell me. I was being to think he wouldn't till my Birthday. He said he was praying it wouldn't be on their anniversary, but God had other plans. They will call me tomorrow and be more cheerful of my Birthday and didn't want to talk sadly on my day. I thanked him and will see how it goes tomorrow. Life isn't fair sometimes, but that is a reason for it. We just don't know what it is and may never know.

Came home and I went downstairs. Planning on just 2 hours, because I really wasn't in the mood to sew, but it needs to get done! So, I went down and worked on the quilt on the wall.

I worked on the bottom strips. I wanted to get this part of the quilt done. I need to measure when I get all the blocks put together. My next thing is to do the borders on the blocks.

At least this part of the quilt is done. I will work on more later. I need to border the blocks next and then I can get to work on the strips on the sides.

While I was working on that, I saw Sophie checking out this box, with the flaps down. I turned around and heard a whoosh and turned back around to find Sophie missing. Then I heard her pawing at the box. I videotaped her trying to get out. I was laughing! I couldn't believe she would fall in the box! This is what I found when I opened the box. She meowed at me several times trying to get out. I had to tip the box on the side to get her out.

Once that part of the quilt was done, I called it done. I didn't want to work on it anymore.

I came upstairs and my cousin called. He wanted to work on the genealogy. So, I was on the phone with him for about 4-5 hours today. We worked on the MATHESON family. I had to get my new updated version of the 2024 World Family Tree. I got it set up between the first call and the second. I've been adding more names to it as well. I need to go through all the names he added and then get to work on filling them in. We must have added about 150 names. It's going fast, but it takes time to add the information in for him.

Once that was done, I played on my tablet. At least I can say today was a time I could be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

It's Been An Interesting Week

This morning, we headed to the casino and spend 5 hours there. We only spend $100 the whole time. Almost came home with that, but we were having fun.

Came home and fixed supper. After the news and while watching TV, mom called. She was checking on us for the day. Then she asked if I knew that Lisa - my nephews wife - passed away today. I told her I didn't know.

On Tuesday, we had the arrival of my niece's daughter. That was fun and photos were sent. They looked happy. I can't wait to go and see her. I'm not that close to that family, but we are getting better at it. My brother now has a house in Vancouver, so hopefully we can see more of each other and mend the relationship we have. Time will tell. Alicia is a cutie and the baby is just as cute! It will be fun to see her.

I have been getting texts from my nephew - older brother's oldest son. We passed happy messages back and forth. I would ask how Lisa was doing and was told they were doing well. When my brother told me what she had, I figured at that time she didn't have much time. But I didn't figure it would be that quick. I was told about a month ago. She had breast cancer that went into the bones. I was told she had a mammogram in Jan, and it was clear. I was shocked to hear the news. They found out when they took her into the hospital (ER) because of the back pain. That's when they found it. They live in Oklahoma. Mom said she talked to her the other day to see how she was doing. They were keeping the information from her daughter, just the other day. She asked to see her daughter and talk to her to say goodbye. At 10 years old, that is not easy to watch your mother die. This family was very quiet about it all. They keep secrets when they don't want anyone to know. So, that secret as kept from me, even today. My mother was the one to tell me. I was not expecting any of our children's family's to pass on, on us. I expected my brothers and myself to go before our children or their spouses. Life has a funny way of sticking their tough out at us. So, it's a one day at a time life. We never know when something like this happens.

Mom asked me what I wanted to do for my Birthday. Again, I have no idea. So, I said so. She said she would take me out to eat twice for lunch. I said it was a deal. So, the first one is Monday at Bill and Bee's, a burger joint that is AWESOME when it comes to burgers. I am looking forward to it.

As much as I want to say I was, I can't say I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another Trip To Olympia - Getting Old

This morning, we headed to moms to get in her attic for her quilt frame. I thought we had it, but we didn't. Patrick brought it down and it looks a 100 + years old. Mom got it from a 90-year-old lady in 1978. She said it was her grandmothers quilt frame. So, chances are it's about 125 years old. Mom likes it and is going to set it up. She has a quilt she wants to put on it. Asked her about Ethel's quilt and she said Kathleen is gone for a week, so she can't take it to get basted. Once it's basted, we can get to work on quilting it. Of course, I forgot to give her, her bags that are in the car. And a box of material.

We headed up to Olympia for Costco. I wanted to be home by 1 pm, which we were. We shopped for Phil and us. Came home and unloaded.

Patrick was tired after that, so he fell asleep in the chair. I played my game with a little comforting help.

Then I waited for Patrick to wake up. I made some snacks for him that have Crisps cereal. Turned out really good. I wasn't in the mood for supper, so we just had some snacky things.

Patrick went to his meeting. Then I wanted to watch CSI as I'm starting from the beginning. Debbie called so, I couldn't watch a good 20 mins of it. Patrick came home shortly after I started it back up. Guess I have to wait.

I plugged my tablet in and decided to watch TV and try and work on my Santa.

As much as I hate working on this, I was able to get a good part done. It's not easy, because of the fraying, but I was able to get this far before I decided to quit. If I do this much each time, I may get it finished yet!

At least I was able to take some time to work on being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Doctor Appointments

I enjoyed the morning but then had to leave around 1 pm. We left and made a couple stops on the way. I wanted my drink at Dutch Brothers. lol

We arrived at Kaiser, I tried to sign in, but didn't have my credit card, thinking I didn't need it. Forgot my oncology is a "specialist" and that has a co-pay. So, I went to the desk and got signed in, since my card is on file. Had an awesome visit with the oncologist.

When I got out of there, Patrick was waiting for me by my doctors. I didn't go and check in thinking the gal did it for me. I went down the hall and checked in again, finding out she didn't check me in for both. So, I didn't wait but 5 minutes for my appointment. I had to get the pneumonia shot. Didn't want it but got it. Decided not to get the shingles shot. I have a follow up in July. I'm okay with that. She's getting a referral for my leg. I'll see how that goes.

By the time we got home, it was 5:30 pm. We had some leftovers and then watched TV. The day went fast, and I've been yawning for the last 30 minutes. So, it's time to call it a night.

I wasn't even close to being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Brazilian Embroidery Presentation

This morning, I was being lazy for as long as I could. I went out and got Phil some asparagus from the garden. Then we headed out to drop some stuff off for him. Patrick went to Ace Hardware and then back to Phil's.

We then headed to the casino for the money we get. We played a good 5 hours and figured we only spend $100. Not bad.

Came home around 4:45 pm and I needed to leave around 5:15 to pick up Geralyn. We had a presentation at the Rainy Daze Quilt Guild meeting. I hadn't been at the quilt meeting for at least 10 years. There was only 2 people in there that I knew. It was interesting.

After spending 2 days working on my speech and wanting to get it right, I had it all typed and ready to go! I brought samples of my work. Geralyn brought her quilts as well. It was fun! The funny part, after all that work, I didn't even read my speech! I talked about the history of Brazilian Embroidery, and the way it's done. I didn't even re-read what I had. My clipboard was in my hand, and I swung it around while I talked, but didn't look at it! The meeting went till 9 pm. Took Geralyn home and now I'm finished for the day.

I wasn't able to get any work done to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Surprise At Brazilian Embroidery Today

This morning, I asked who wanted something to drink. We were going to work on the box of beads and the stuff our group is giving out for Seminar.

I stopped at McD's for 2 ice tea and a coffee. Then headed to the grange. I arrived and Sandy was already there. I waited on her as she headed back to her house to get a couple things. I didn't look around, probably a good thing. I went out to help Sandy V with her box of beads. When I went back in, Sandy E had the table set for 5. She thought mom might show up. it was so cool!

I didn't look in her bags, so I had no clue what she was up to! It was a surprise lunch for my birthday, which I loved!

We opened up the box of beads and started working on them. We had to fill a few small bags with seed beads. Then we had a few bigger beads. Once all that was done, we put them in the bags I got ready with the cards. It all came from Caravan Beads. I'm going to have to check them out! There was so much stuff! Some of it had "Etsy" on the stickers. lol

It was a ton of stuff! All this on the table. Sandy E, Sandy V, and Geralyn all at work.

Once all that was done, we sat down to eat and have a good chat.

Sandy E made the salad and got the meat tray done.

Geralyn had the rolls and gave each of us a roll of bread. YUM!!

She also made chicken noodle soup that was really, really good! I even brought some home it was that good.

Let's just say, we didn't go home hungry! It was really good. I could have ate more, but knew I had to come home to supper. I send Patrick a picture of the soup and table hoping he wouldn't fix what we decided on yesterday. Of course, he didn't pay attention, and when I got home it was in the oven!

After out meeting, I headed to Colleen's. Since I was late, I had to wait. She was picking up her granddaughter at school. I think it was her 2 brothers that were there as well. Another car came to pick her up, and I tell you! That lady had a mouth on her! She waited in the car. I just sat in my car till Colleen made it home.

We chatted about all the fabrics she has and decided it would be better if we just wait till September. I picked up moms 2 bags she was wanting back. I will take it to her on Thursday when Patrick goes to get her quilt frame down. I thought I had it, but it looks like I have a newer one then hers. She said her grandmother's frame is in the attic. We will see.

When I got home, I worked on my speech for tomorrow. I will need to read it a few times to get comfortable with it. It will be interesting if they even care what I say. lol

While I waited at Colleens, I was able to get a couple bullions done on the Bonzi tree. So, I guess that can be listed as Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

It was supposed to be a quiet day. Instead, it turned out to be a cleaning day. Which was okay with me.

I opened my gift from my son and his wife. I loved it! Chocolate covered nuts, which I will never turn down. Then they gave me an earring tree. I was wanting one for a while and almost bought one the other day. I do like this one. I have already got most of my earring on it, and I will probably find more to add to it. Most of the beaded ones were given to me. There really isn't a lot there that I bought. I will be going through them and may end up replacing a few. Who knows, I may make my own.

It told Katt if she wanted some, she could take them. She came back with, no offence, but we don't have the same taste. I know there are a few of my jewelry that she likes, so it's really not that different, but when it comes to these earrings, then yes, they aren't her style. Not really mine but I like wearing them. Why not? I still get complements even when I don't care that much for them. lol

We went to Safeway today and got some stuff we needed. We decided on a light dinner but talked about making some potato soup one day this week. Forgot the potatoes though. It went fast, and were home by 1 pm.

We sat and watched TV. I decided to do some work on my cross stitching

I worked on the staff. I was able to get about 2" done. It takes some work. I still don't like the gold, but I need to finish this up! Patrick didn't know I worked on it because he's comment was, "So, you just took it out and didn't work on it?" I told him I did. Funny too, because he sat next to me watching TV and didn't even notice I was stitching! Go figure!!

I then went on my tablet to play. Have been chatting more than playing. But it's fun to do. Tomorrow is BE and we will be busy getting stuff ready for the Seminar. I'm not going but wish at times I was. I just can't see going for a couple days - plus I don't want to drive in downtown Portland to the Hotel. I could probably take the train, but don't know how that would go. Plus, that's added expenses. Oh, well.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS, AUNTS, AND THOSE WHO ARE STEPMOMS. This mom was enjoying being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Took Mom Out

This morning, I tried to sleep in. Just couldn't. So, I was up and ready to play the war game today. It was kingdom against kingdom. Really boring though. That went on for a good 6 or 7 hours. I stopped after 5 hrs.

Debbie stopped by to pick up the fabric she asked about. I gave it to her. After she left, I worked on getting the information on BE, so I could talk about it on Tuesday. I have a presentation to do for that. It's easy enough, I just need to research information and put it into a speech. I also need to get samples for it, and will do that tomorrow.

Then we left about an hour later. We went early just in case there was a lot of people going out for Mother's Day before tomorrow. Patrick made reservations for us at Red Lobster. We met up with brother Patrick and Chris. It was a really nice dinner. Mom was quiet part of it. Then she would get to talking about stuff we already knew. I'm not sure what Patrick talked to her about, Chris and I were talking about something different. As we left, we say Dan and Julie from bowling sitting in the next table. It was funny because we never run into anyone when we are out. Told Julie that Kim has my phone number and to get it from her. Since they bowl on Sunday nights.

We dropped mom off. She gave me some roses, as well as some for Chris and Alicia (their daughter).

Then we came home. It was about 6 pm when we finally made it home. So, we watched a couple shows before we watched our British shows at 9 pm.

It wasn't my day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Mom's Quilt Group Day

I got to mom to find Nancy adding the QOV stuff from Anne's to my car. There were 4 bags. Then mom was trying to find the pillow forms. I checked and she has them. I need to let Colleen know.

I worked on my embroidery today instead of quilt stuff. I also checked with mom on getting Ethel's quilt ready to quilt. She wasn't happy with me asking because she was working on her baby quilts for her great grandchildren instead. Then she was also working on our quilt, which could have waited, but she wanted to get it going.

I am closer to getting this done. I need to work on the hair and finish the leaves or branches. Then I can add the beads and call it done.

I worked on the funny looking branch/leaf on the left. The one sticking out. It was easy to do and was surprised it turned out. I will work on the other area soon. I need to add more beads and then calling it done. I hope.

Came home early before lunch. Then we headed to the casino. Like I said before, we have money from the casino on Tuesdays and Fridays. It's a pretty good amount and I'm not going to pass it up. We played on their money most of the time and then played on it again after. We came home with $200 - so we have more than we took. It's not something I recommend to anyone, unless you have the money. We have the money because we don't spend it, and I am a saver. We have a few things on the list to fix or replace, so that will be coming as well. BUT we are not rich and yet we are not poor. This is entertainment for us, and we enjoy it. If I wasn't getting that extra amount of money on Fridays, we wouldn't be going. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts. If I don't want to play, I can cash it out and take it home. I am betting we may do that in a week or so, because going twice a week is a bit much for me.

We were home by 6 pm. Then we just sat and enjoyed the music while checking his phone and me playing on my tablet.

I need to get my "shit" together and get the Brazilian Embroidery paperwork and samples ready for Tuesday since I am doing a presentation. It's the old quilt group I used to go to.

That being said, I was still able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Presentation Day As Well As Keeping Busy

This morning, Patrick was off to golfing. I played my game - War of Worlds and we won. Then I got ready to leave. We had our presentation today.

I called Debbie and said I was going to Panda for lunch. Asked her if she wanted to join me. She did, so I ended up waiting for her to get there. Then we sat and had lunch. Once that was done, I gave her the quilts to take to the museum while I went to get our coffee/tea.

I arrived to find Debbie putting the quilts away. We pulled the quilts for the presentation. It went really well. We had 7 scheduled but 1 didn't make it. So, we will have to reschedule him. The one that didn't come last time came today. So, we gave him his mother's quilt as well as the quilt she made that was patriotic.

All of them were in the Army (Not in order, can't remember who's who) - William Schwall, (he's the one on the left), William Bangs (4th from the left), Shawn McGuire (3 from the left), Bernard Schmit, James Callahan, Lynn Pattison (I think he's on the end). It went pretty well, I was missing my clip board.

Came home and we headed to the casino to get my "promo" gift. Then we came home. It was a BBQ set that is in a golf bag. Kinda cute. lol

Stopped at Safeway for some lettuce, tomato, and onion. I wanted to have a burger tonight. lol

Once we finished, Ron called and we walked 5 laps. I told him I won't be walking tomorrow. It's a busy day tomorrow and Saturday, but will walk on Saturday.

Now, I'm a bit tired and am going to sit and play games. Then I will call it a night and start all over tomorrow. It's quilting at moms, which means I MAY be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Trying To Get Ready For Tomorrow

Patrick finally went golfing today. It was nice to have the morning to myself. I started laundry, but that was as far as it got. I just now realized it was in the wash and had to move it to the dryer. Then I cleaned the cat box. I worked on the quilts that I had left to label. All done before Patrick got home.

This was Linda Nelson's quilt. I love the panel. I think I posted it yesterday, but I realized I didn't get the label on till today.

This one was done by Karol Young. She did 2 quilts and I'm trying to locate the second one. She has some kits as well. I hope she will be bringing her tops back soon. lol

As much as I wanted to say today was going as planned, that didn't happen. Oh, gee, that never happens to me! I had thought about going downstairs to work on the quilt and try to get it finished. BUT, yet again - it didn't happen. I will get there yet!

About that time Patrick came home. I went walking with Ron and got 4 laps in. I asked him about the golf cart and he said it was up for sale. Patrick wanted it, so on the last lap, I had Patrick walk down there with us. They chatted about the cart. Patrick asked the price. Ron gave him one, Patrick added to it for the deal. Ron said he needed to get his stuff out of the cart and we said we would come back for it, with the check.

Patrick and I then went to Sunbirds to get some potted hanging plants. We picked up 4 for the house and a potted plant for mom for Mother's Day. It goes in her front yard. I told Patrick it would even look nice on our step by the bear. Then we talked about how old the bear is and that it needs to be painted. I think he's going to find the pain and I will paint it again. Just to bring it back to life.

We then went and picked up the golf cart. Patrick put it in the garage and cleaned it up - not that it needed to be cleaned - Ron kept it really nice and kept up with it. But we all know how we get; we get something new that is used, and we have to clean it up to our liking. Not much to clean really, but we know it's clean enough for us.

While he cleaned it up, I watched more of "CSI" on Disney. I started from the beginning. I used to watch it, but then got tired of it. It actually ran another 5 years after that. So, now I'm refreshing my memory of how it started and the characters.

Once dinner was over, I worked on the certificates for tomorrow. Then I entered 4 new veterans in the national database. We should be getting 3 of them back. One is Oregon and that can stay in Oregon. Don't think he wants to come all the way to Chehalis to get his quilt.

At least with all the stuff I worked on and did today, I was able to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching.

Working On Labels

This morning, I decided to try and get my labels sewn, so I could do the quilts in the bedroom. Once that's done, they will be going to the museum.

I went downstairs and sewed up 4 labels. Once that was done, we left for the casino. We stopped and made a deposit, then dropped aspargus off at Phil's, then off to the casino. They sent us a promo for every Tuesday, so we get a gift, and we get money to play. We played on their money for quite awhile. It was fun.

Came home and I watched my show while Patrick was outside on the swing set. It was really hot today. Reached 86* and not fun! Ron and I walked around 6 pm. It was HOT for him and me. We only got 4 laps in today. He told me he is going to Chehalis West to live. I told him he needed to go to Vancouver by his son. But his middle son is being an a** and so to keep him happy, he's staying here in Chehalis area.

I worked on the quilts that need to go to the museum and ready to give out. I did 5 of them, but only 3 photos came through.

Linda Nelson did this one for us. I really like it and haven't seen this panel out there. If I could find it, I would get more.

Stitch 'n Peace made this one. That group comes up with some really nice quilts. It works out great for us.

Another Stitch 'n Peace group quilt. It turned out great.

I have 7 quilts that need to go to the museum. I'm working on getting 2 more labeled and then I will have them ready for Thursday.

I was able to get a lot done. When it got too hot for me, I didn't do another one. I will do them tomorrow with the certificates of those that are going to be presented on Thursday. It should be fun.

At least, I was able to find the time to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

On A Roll........

This morning, I needed to get moving. I had to go to the bank, then see Phil, Colleen and then head to moms. I left around 9 am. First, I ha...
