Spent The Day With Mom

This morning, I was out the door just before 10 am and went to the museum. I dropped off the 2 quilts for the Gala. Then I headed to Colleen's where we chatted for a good hour. I dropped some stuff off for quilts. Then I went to get the car washed and a drink. Even got a chai tea for mom.

Arrived at moms around 11-11:30. She was showing me all the blocks she has done. We talked about the squares I had in the tub. Then we went into her bedroom to pull out all the stuff in the chest that was my dad's. Most of the stuff was already gone through. She wanted me and my brother to go through dad's stuff. I put most of it in a box for him to go through. As for me, I took a few things, but not much. Some was just screws or that kind of thing for Patrick. I did get his camera.

He let me use this camera when I was in HS. I was taking pictures for the yearbook. I asked Katt if she wanted it and she said she did. So, this is going to her. She used it for a bit as well. Then she got her own camera. Both my kids take awesome pictures. It really brings back memories. I had a hard time today thinking about him. I did learn a lot about him. He loved his job in Security Services for the Air Force. He was considered one of the top people in his unit. We didn't know because his job was NEVER talked about. We couldn't even visit the place he worked. When we lived in Ft. Meade, he drove to the NSA building and told us what floor he worked on, but we could not go in. So, we didn't know anything about his job other than he was in the Air Force. Most of what he did was top secret. Today, not so much, but during the cold war, it was hush, hush. I found out before he passed, that he was the one who found Palmer before he went to Russia. He even talked to him before he crossed into Russia. I was shocked to hear that. He also told me, "Some secrets are meant to stay a secret." I truly believe he was right on that point.

So, after we did all that, we wanted to go to Bill and Bee's but they were closed today. So, we went to the Firehouse Subs and then went home to eat. I finally made it home around 3:30 pm.

It was a long day. There wasn't time to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Almost Had Two Days To Myself!

This morning, I was up to play the war game at 9am. Then I got busy, vacuuming, mopping the floor, doing laundry among other things.

Then when I sit down to listen to my book and start beading, Patrick came home from golfing. He played pretty good today considering it was 40 degrees.

As I continued to mess with the laundry, I beaded.

I was able to get the first one done. Five more to go. I really do like working on this. I will probably do this one again and wait on the other half later.

Mom called when I was trying to clean and work around the house. She wanted me to come over to help her box up dad's stuff in his chest of drawers. She's going to get rid of the bedroom set they have had since Turkey. She's having a man build her a bedroom set and getting rid of the king size bed they had. She bought a Queen size mattress from Costco and the gentleman is building her a back board for her bed. So, she's excited about it and want to get rid of everything ASAP. Even though the drawers are not finished because she needs to save her money for them. Long story. Since I couldn't go over next week - way to busy! - she wanted me to come tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it. I was just going to go to the museum and drop off the quilts and come home. Now I have to go to the museum, Colleen's, bank and moms. My "free" day is gone. Oh, well. That's life.

Even though I had today to myself, (Patrick was in the yard), it would have been nice to have two days that way. Monday I will be picking up some of the quilts for QOV in Olympia. Tuesday is doctor appointments, and so is Wednesday. Then we are off till the 10th. No rest for the wicket as they say!

At least I found time today to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting.

Casino And Other Stuff

Today, we were up earlier than usual to get moving. We headed to New Balance shoes at the outlet stores. I needed to get new shoes to see if that was part of my problem with not healing on my ankle. I ended up buying 2 pairs of shoes because there was a sale on the shoes, plus buy one get one. I ended up with 2 pairs of shoes for $116. which is about what I paid for my Skeeters a couple years ago. I know, we are not supposed to wear the same shoes for 2 or 3 years, but I'm not the only one that does. So, I was told by Bob I needed to get new shoes and wear my slippers at home. That might help with healing. So, I'm trying to behave! I did get the new shoes and really like them. They are more comfortable than the old shoes - wonder why! 😂

Then we met up with Martha, who took 2 more kits for QOV. Once that was done, we headed to the casino. We actually played on their money a while. Patrick even won the Major jackpot of $800. So, he played on his money for a bit. It was fun. We got ice cream on the way out.

Came home and I had some stuff I needed to get done. I worked on my QOV stuff. I also put the labels on the 2 quilts that are going to the museum for their Gala.

Patrick doesn't care for it, but it's just a quilt to give to the Gala for their auction. I like it a little, but it's up to the person that wants it. Labels are on them, and I will deliver them on Friday.

Then I needed to get paperwork done. I also did some bookkeeping work. That all put me into 6 pm. So, I worked on my exercises and then tried to enjoy watching TV with Patrick. Trouble was Sophie was in my chair, so I sat at the couch.

Tried to bead, but the couch area was too dark. I did get about 4 or 5 rows in. I will work on it tomorrow. I'm taking it with us to Indiana when we go next week. Things to do, things to do!

When I quit, Patrick joined me on the couch, and we watched TV together. We hadn't done that in a while, so that was nice. At least I TRIED to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Lots To Do Today

Jo Pope arrived around 10:15 am. We took a good hour and a half to find fabric for her next 2 quilts. She also picked up 2 batting and backing for the 2 she finished. She does an awesome job!! I love her quilts and they are all done by hand.

She dropped this one off. I need to make a pillowcase for it and it will be ready for Veterans Day.

After she left, I headed to the post office to drop off 2 certificates. Then I headed to PT but stopped at moms on the way. I chatted with my brother and his family, then was a couple minutes late for my PT appointment.

Got to work at PT. Bob is baffled with me. My foot is hurting more and when he checked it, he also found that my other foot is that way too. I did my exercises while he did the paperwork. He is thinking I may need to see an Orthopedic since it doesn't seem to be getting better. We chatted for a while, and we decided to wait and see. I need to get my new shoes, because these are old. They are falling apart. He got after me that I need to get new shoes more often than every 2-3 years. We are only supposed to wear them for about 500 miles. I laughed and asked how the heck I would know I reached that. We talked and are going to try to see if the new shoes and my wearing my slippers in the house instead of going bare foot will help. I will see him next week.

I then went to the museum to talk to Sam and Chip. I wanted to know what we needed to do for the Veterans Day celebration. Chip and I agreed I would write a small paragraph for Donna to talk and then present. He agreed with that and will have to stick to what I write. I need to do that by this week. Told Sam the 2 quilts for the Gala are done and will be there by the weekend with or without the label. She said that would be fine.

After that I stopped to give Sandy her gift at her new office. That place is huge and really nice! They were really nice as well.

Stopped to get gas before I headed home. By that time, it was 3:30 pm. Long day! I sat and chatted with Patrick, not doing much. When he turned the TV off, I got my tablet and earbuds. I listened to my book and played games. When he turned the TV back on, I continued to listen to my book.

The day is over, I did a lot, but I didn't end up Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Quiet Day Of Beading

Today, I was up earlier than usual. I had to meet Kelsey to get a quilt and give her another one. We met at the museum.

Came home and Patrick was looking better. But he was still in bed. Then I sat and worked on some beading. I took apart the tapestry piece that had seed beads and not delica beads. I'm going to do that design in delica beads later.

Then after about 3 hours of that, I worked on my ornaments again.

I started the first panel of 6. I was able to get a good 1/3 done, so that's a good thing. At least I was working on it.

So, today was a fun day of being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Took The Time To Bead Today

This morning, Patrick wasn't doing very well. I tried to keep quiet and let him sleep. He spent most of the day in bed.

When he was up and in the living room, I moved to the computer room. I wanted to learn how to make the earrings that are on YouTube.  I liked them and thought I could make a pair.

First, I tried with Delica 11/0 beads. She was working it with seed beads 11/0. They are different from each other. I didn't like the way this one was coming out. It didn't lay very well, and it was more a pain to work with.

So, I went through a couple of my kits to see if seed beads were in there. I found what I was looking for, just not in the colors I wanted. This is actually black, yellow and white, but it doesn't come out that color on the boards I used.

I took it apart a couple times. Then I reworked it. The video is so easy to understand without words. I was going along with the video, stopping it till I was where I wanted to be and turning it back on. It worked out great.

It ended up taking longer than I thought. It's not laying the way I want it to, and I may do another one again. I like the pattern, and it was easier than I thought it would be. I enjoyed making them. It just took all afternoon because I started with the wrong beads.

Afterwards, I took the seed bead kit that I was making a few years back and am taking it apart so I can use the beads for something else. I will do that pattern with delica beads because I think it will come out better if I do.

So, may whole day was beading - which left me Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Presentation Day

This morning, I really didn't do much. I was waiting till it was time to leave for the museum. We had a presentation for veterans today.

Debbie and I arrived first, and the others where right behind us. I was surprised that so many of the group arrived early. This group of ours is so wonderful! They work well together, and things are going so smoothly. I can't believe how nice it is to do these presentations without drama!

They were Brandon Planert, Army, Laurel Boyd Maddox, Army, Cragg Parks, Navy, James Radford Inabnit, Marine Corps, Steven Keeling, Navy, Brandi Hansen Roy, Air Force, Mark Clinton, Army Ronald Edward, Marine Corps, and Tyler Roy, Navy.   We had 3 sets of 2 get quilts together. They were related to each other, and it was fun to present them together. Brandi (second from the right) and her husband (third from the right) were presented together. He came and we found out he was a Navy veteran who still works for the Navy. So, we added him in for a quilt. We had 9 veterans with him. Tyler was awesome and they had their two children. Those kids were very well behaved and so sweet!

We let the boys join in with the celebration.

Stopped at Panda Express for supper since it was our day for fundraising. I was able to get food for Patrick and me. I was going to stop and eat with Debbie, but Patrick wanted me to come home and eat with him. So, take out it was.

It rained when I got home. Poured actually. Glad I was home when I was. The tree in the yard was so pretty, I had to take a photo. I love the colors. Wish that would be something to bead, but don't think it would come out if I tried.

It wasn't a day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Physical Therapy And Quilting

This morning, I wanted to leave by 9 am. I had to drop off the family history at the post office for Bryan. Then I found out 2 pages didn't make it in the envelope so will send it later. Then I stopped for breakfast and tea.

Got to my appointment on time. Chatted with Bob about life in general for me. He suggested I might like to chat with a physiologist. I tend to agree with him. My emotions are all over the place and I'm not doing much anymore like I usually do. I sent a message to my doctor for a referral.

Went to moms to find 9 people there for quilting! I was shocked because we usually don't get but 5 or 6 in one time. Everyone was wired! I couldn't believe it. They all wanted to talk to me before they left. I chatted with the ones I needed to and then when lunch was on, I called it a day and left. I wasn't in the mood to deal with all those women! OMG, I guess Nancy got them all wired because she was wired. UGH!!

Before I left, I had to get pictures of an old crazy quilt that Carmen brought in. I loved it. It's so worn that it's falling apart but the blocks were so well done!

I picked a couple of them to photograph. Something to think about the next time someone wants me to do a crazy quilt square.

There was stuff from the civil war even! I really loved the workmanship. Some of the stitches are gone, but most are still there.

Beautiful work! I just love the stitches.

Came home and decided to work on the blocks I needed to work on. I finished the one.

I was able to get this one done. Now I'll do my dog and then start the other dog. A lot of people are wanting me to do most of the work. I'm not happy about that! I'm done once the blocks are done. They can figure it out when it's ready to be put together. I won't be at the next meeting, so I told them to have them done when I get back. Probably won't happen.

At least I found the time to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

A Quiet But Fun Day

Today I was up early, because I wanted to play my war game. I had 2 today. Patrick was golfing so I could play. At 9 am I played for an hour with friends.

Patrick got home just as I finished up my journal about living with cancer. I figure it's easier to write it down then it is to share on a blog. I had thoughts that needed to be on paper and not in my head.

Then I played waiting to hear from Phil. When I did, he said he didn't need me. So, Patrick and I headed into Safeway for some shopping. We go a lot done.

Stopped to see Phil.

Ran into his father-in-law too. Mike is a sweetheart! So, they chatted. Mike, Patrick and Phil. Love my guys!

Went to Safeway and got what we needed. Then came home. Listened to my book on audio. After a while I finally decided to get that ornament panel done!

We watched "Finding Your Roots" while I finished the last panel. This is the end result. I will start the next one soon. It will be going with me to IL to visit with Sue. That way I have something to do.

It turned out to be a fun day and a day I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Waiting Game - UGH

This morning, Patrick tagged me to get up and get ready to go to Olympia for his scans. He had CAT and MRI done today. So, I was ready when we needed to leave. Would have been nice to sleep in but we were up by 8 am. Out the door by 9 am. Patrick's first scan was at 10:20 am and then we had to wait (and wait) till 11:50 am for his other scan. I took a walk around the medical facility. The last scan took longer and was about 40 mins. The first one was only about 10 mins. I played on my phone but wised I had brought something to work on. I need to put something in the car so I can pick it up and take it with me. By the time he was done, I had a bigger headache then when we left.

We then went to Lucky Eagle. We did really well. Didn't go through as much of our money as we have been. We wanted to stay and try to get the jackpot, but after a while we decided we had enough. We were winning, so we didn't have to put more of our money in the machine. We have actually been behaving lately and making sure we don't overspend what we take. It's working out for us.

Headed home but stopped at Wendy's for supper and got a drink at Dutch Brothers. Then we headed home. I was cold all day long, still am. So, I'm getting to go to bed in my heated sheets. Yea!

We weren't home long enough for me to do any crafts. Plus, my headache isn't getting any better. So, we are calling it an early night. I need the sleep, and I think he's going golfing tomorrow. Something about it raining Friday, and he wanted to get some time in this week. I hope it doesn't rain like they say it will, because I have PT and moms on Friday. Oh, well.

As much as I wanted to say I was, I wasn't Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Spending Time With Mom

Today I was up early. Had to get moving for my Physical Therapy appointment. It was at 9 am, so I wasn't used to being up at 7:30 am anymore. I tend to be up around 8-9:30 am. It was different.

I spend the hour working on my walking down the hall. I had been poked as well. But it felt good after. I forgot my stick and wished I had taken it.

Afterward, I went to moms. We worked on the 4 1/2" squares she had. She's been making more 9-patches, but I can't figure her out lately. She was really good about picking colors for quilts and how to organize them. But she was putting all blue in the 9-patches. Then she wanted to put a busy color for the squares between. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I told her to go through the stack and put the same fabric together for the 5 squares and then add the 4 whites. I went through her stacks. We both matched them up. I can't believe how much we matched up! She's got enough for at least 5 quilts. Then we took a break about noon and had lunch. Once that was over, I headed home. I had to stop at the post office, then Safeway. I forgot why I went to Safeway and had to turn around and go back once I got home. Then when I was at Safeway, I found I had to wait. I decided I wasn't going to wait and headed home. Just as I was leaving, I had a text from Rita that the Gala quilt was done. So, I stopped at the church and got it. Then came home.

I played on my tablet today. I was just tired of running around and by the time I got home it was 3:30 pm. I decided I didn't want to do anything if I didn't have to. I did enough for the day. I listened to my book as I played. I finished it, and decided I would listen to the last book before going to the other books I have on loan. The books seem to keep my interest lately.

Now it's bedtime and I still wasn't Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

We Lost! Oh, Well!

Today, I slept in because I could. We didn't have embroidery and probably won't for a while. I did get the mail that I didn't get 2 weeks ago. It all finally arrived. One was from BDEIG stating we are in trouble. Our membership has dropped to below 200 members, and they need help from all of us. I agree but wonder in a way if it's a little late. I tried to tell them when I was on the board that they needed to work on newer designs and different pattern other than flowers. It will be interesting to see if we can pull ourselves out of trouble.

Then I headed to the bank, car wash, Dutch Brothers and Colleens. I dropped off 2 quilts for her. We chatted about what we need to do. Came home (forgetting to go to the post office) and got online to let everyone know about Saturday's presentation and our Panda Express fundraiser.

After that, I came into the room to watch a show with Patrick. One of Ken Burns about the Buffalo. I was teary eyed after watching that, to think of what our ancestors did was heart breaking. I know my great grandfather fought the Native Americans during the civil war. He wrote about it. To think those who hunted wanted to kill off the Buffalo for their own gain. Which in turn hurt the Native Americans. Both were hurt not just the Buffalo. I enjoyed the documentary. Well said and well done.

While I was watching that, I was beading.

As soon as this is done, it will be one ornament ready to be put together. I will work on another one and try for three of them. I was happy working on this. Before I started, I was watching YouTube on how to make some pretty earrings and necklaces. I saved them so I could try and do one or two of them. I think Katt might like them as well. I may take a day and work on one later on. Right now I need to get my ornaments under control. lol

Even though I watched the Mariner's game, I was glad they got as far as they did. I wish they could have won, but there is next year. This was the farthest they have gotten, and it was worth a try. Now we are watching the Seahawks, and so far, they are winning but I'm not staying up to see what happens. Long day and one which I was Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Went To The Playhouse

Today, we started with the usual Sunday morning. I got a few things done.

I played for a bit before we headed to the playhouse to see Heckle & Jeckle.

It was a different kind of play. I never read the book or saw the movie. I wasn't that thrilled in the first 10 minutes of the play and wondered how long it would be. It's a musical, so it went on for a while. I enjoyed some of the music, but it wasn't my kind of play. They did an awesome job of acting. The background, though, didn't make sense to me. Scaffolding was weird to have here. I think I would have had something else there. When it was over, I felt like it was too long. It made sense as we went along, but still not my kinda play. At least we were out to enjoy something today. I wonder if we should try Olympia one of these days. Since they sell season tickets, it's harder to get seats you want, and to their favor its sales a lot of tickets. I just wish they didn't sell the best seats to all ticket holders.  It would be nice to be able to try and get some of the nicer seats. But then if I paid for the year, I would want the best seats. I just can't schedule the days I can attend that far ahead.

We came home and I had to cut batting and backing for 2 quilts. I need to take them to Colleen tomorrow. Plus, I need to go to the fair to get a form to fill out about the post office not delivering my check. Informed Delivery stated I was supposed to receive it on Tuesday. That and a letter from BE. Neither one has arrived. I sent a message to the post office, and they haven't even asked me about it. I sent 2 messages and then I got 2 surveys' asking me about it. I told them I never got a message or was contacted by the post office. I'm still waiting for the check and letter to come in. I checked informed delivery yesterday and there was a post card we didn't receive as well. I didn't care about the post card, but I have noticed some of our mail isn't coming to the house.

I did ask about the round robin stuff. I found out because Canada is striking with the postal service, that my Round Robin in stuck at the post office. It's been there for almost a month. So, we can't send my piece around to be worked on. It's almost too funny about this round robin. Everything thing that can go wrong has gone wrong. I'm just going to keep going with what I get. The next one should be coming pretty soon too. All I can do is laugh!

Unfortunately, today wasn't a day I would like to say was Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

First Round Robin Piece Finished

This morning, I needed to be up by 9 am to play the war game. I played but didn't get much in points. I've been backing off that game lately.

We watched some TV and then we shut it off.

I enjoyed listening to my book on tape and getting this done. I was trying to make it light and dark. It turned out pretty good, but not quite what I wanted it to look like. At least this is done. I hope she likes it.

I'm not sure when I will be getting the next one, but I'm betting it will be soon. I'm just happy today was a day I enjoyed being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Worked On Round Robin Today

This morning, was physical therapy. I had it early, so I was back by noon. I stopped at moms to visit but she had a gal there for her Mary Kay makeup. They were playing. I didn't want to, and I left.

Came home to find in the mailbox my Round Robin piece. It was what the gal who was before me was supposed to have done. She had to quit, so she sent me what she was getting. I decided to get to work on it, because it needs to go back in the mail in a weeks' time. I got a message from the gal putting it on, and found that the gal I sent my stuff to in Canada, decided to quit because of the postal service in Canada going on strike. So, if she sent my piece out, it may be stuck in the mail. As for the piece I sent her, I have no idea if she even got it. I hope she has it. Or has sent it on.

The gal that was before Erin, I think it's Jenean, found this pattern in a free stack at the retreat. So, she thought it would be pretty in Brazilian Embroidery - rayon threads. I tend to agree. I'm the first one to work on it. It has 6 places for each of us, but now that we lost 2 of us, we will be 1 short. Even my bear will be missing an area.

The markings on the piece will NOT come out, so we have to make sure to cover them. I tried, but I think I'm a little off on it. I decided to work the leaves first and now I'm going to work on the flowers. They will be layered. Dark yellow for the outside of the petals and then a lighter yellow for the inside. The center part will be pistol stitch or a straight stitch with a colonial knot at the end. I'm going to think about what would work. I hope this looks good enough. I really liked the yellow flower they had, so I decided to go with it. Plus, this flower looked to be more fun than the others.

We went down to Longview for Red Lobster dinner. I was really surprised at the menu and the prices! They have doubled since we were there a few months earlier. Plus, they didn't have a couple things that we wanted. So, Patrick got his shrimp - but not shrimp scampi - and I decided on the special of the day - fish and chips. I wasn't in the mood for shrimp and haven't been for a while. The last couple times Patrick made it, I didn't care for it, so I'm not wanting it.

At least the Mariner's won today! Plus, Phil sent us a gift of 2 Mariner's shirts!! I was thrilled. I even wear my Seahawk's T-shirt with my Mariner's jacket! WE WON! I may have to wear them again on Sunday!

It felt good to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Cleaning Day - Not A Craft Day

This morning, I was beat, but I think it's because I took Night Qual around 3 am. I slept till about 10 am today. Mom called and we chatted. Then I started cleaning the house.

I felt the house needed some work, and Patrick was golfing till 2 pm since they didn't get out in the course till around the time I was getting up. I started with laundry and worked my way to vacuuming. I got a lot done, even with the dishwasher.

Once all that was done, I didn't feel like doing ANYTHING. I played my games. More Seeker's Note than the war game. I'm a little discouraged with the war game, even though I knew I had a couple games to play today. Decided I didn't want to and called it done. So, I played search and find instead.

Patrick went up to Olympia. He asked me if I wanted to go and I told him I didn't. I thought about watching TV but listened to my book instead. It's really good. I have 2 more books in that series and want to read them. I will when the book comes up on my rotation. I have another of C J Archers' book series, and I like to rotate them. Just so I don't end up reading them all together and wish I had enjoyed them more. Gives me time to think about where they will go from there.  I like the authors books. Makes them interesting and fun to listen to.

I didn't even get supper. I just wasn't in the mood - but I did have some of my dessert that was in the fridge. Life today was just to relax before I have to get busy again. We have a play to go to this Sunday. I'm looking forward to that though. As for today, it wasn't a day to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Sewing Day & Mariner's Game

This morning, I was getting a few things done before everyone started to show up. We had 7 of us today which is a good sign for Sew Days.

I had everything planned out and cut. Then I had everyone make sure they had the same 1/4" seam allowance guide. Once we had that down, I had them get started on the 2 quilts that I was ready to have done. We worked on the Irish Chain and a 9-patch quilt. I didn't get a photo of the pretty one that is the Irish Chain, but I did get the other one.

All the 9-patches got done. So, we had enough for 3 quilts because we all decided this was way to red and busy. Mary took half the blocks and cut out the blue squares for the "every other block" area. Patrick came done to help with the color that we needed to go with the blocks. Maggie and Mary divided the blocks up in 2 groups - one of 17 blocks and one of 18 blocks. Then Mary took the material for the solid blocks and Maggie took the one that Mary had already cut the blocks for. Maggie also took the red, white and blue one we did. It was already sewn in rows and just needed to be sewn together. That one doesn't need a border. Val took all the blocks that Georgie and others did. She's going to see what she can do with them. There was a LOT of them, so who know how many quilts she'll get out of them.

When the tops come back, then we will have 6 tops to be ready to quilt. I finished Mary's quilt by adding the border to it. I will get that ready for Colleen to work on. There are still the other 2 from the tri-cities. I need to send them photos as well. lol

After everyone left and I cleaned up some, we decided to leave the table out for when they come back next month. I was beat by then.

Came upstairs and sat to watch the Mariner's game. It wasn't as I hoped, but we are still in the game. Not to worry, they will pick it back up.

It's been a long day, but a good day. We had a potluck, so when it was supper time, I wasn't hungry. I have a lot of dip left over. lol That will be for me. With all the fun we all had, it felt good to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Hello Tuesday

Today, I had my physical therapy appointment. I was ready to go. Plus, I needed to stop at the post office to send out a couple packages. I also had to get some stamps.

Once that was done, I headed to Centralia for my physical therapy. I was able to feel a little better afterwards.

Got home around 12:30 pm. Then Patrick and I went to the casino. Today's gift was sheets. That's why Patrick wanted to go. He wanted to get the sheets. lol We stayed and played. We actually didn't do bad. We came home with some money.

Stopped at Safeway for some stuff for tomorrow. My QOV group is coming for a sewing day. Starts at 10 am. We are having a potluck. Patrick brought out the card table for us to use at lunch time. Or use it for sewing. We will see how it goes when they get here. I'm all prepared, now.

I was spending the 2 hours I had to cut fabric into 4 1/2" squares. I needed to get the red for one quilt and the white and off white for both. I now have enough to be able to get 2 quilt tops done, if it all goes well. I may end up sewing as well. Colleen will be here for a bit then have to leave and come back. I put the quilt material on the table so they can just take a set and get going when they get here. I am going to have to have them check the 1/4" seam allowance first, so everyone is at the same point.

Now I'm beat and calling it a day! Tomorrow is another day, and we will be busy. My back may not like all the standing or sitting but I will get through it.

At least I tried to be Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Embroidery And Mariner's Game

This morning, Patrick went golfing and I went to the grange to meet up with my friends for embroidery. I had to stop at Safeway first, then Phils, then post office and last the PUD building. I put the bill in the box for overnight, thinking it was a holiday for them. The people behind me walked right in! Guess they were open today. Oh, well they will get the bill tomorrow then. Now worries.

We had three of us today. I talked my head off. More than I usually do anyway. They asked about mom and that went into a whole 'nother story. I worked on my Blitz piece while I was at it.

I was able to finish the head, then I got the knees done. I think the feet are next, but not sure. I will do the "O" later, probably first before the rest of the shirt. I like working on this one.

Came home and we went downstairs to get the room ready for the quilters on Wednesday. It needed to be done before tomorrow since we will be gone most of the day. I still need to cut the squares out but will try and do that tomorrow night. I'm trying to think of something for the potluck on Wednesday. Seems everyone is bringing stuff other than dessert. lol I thought of doing a casserole but with what everyone is doing, it would be way too much.

We pulled the table out. Patrick was talking about leaving the table out and putting the bolts of fabric where the rocking chair in the corner is. We will work something out after everyone leaves. At least it is ready to be used and get some stuff done.

I still need to pick up in the other part of the room. I have my counter that really need to be cleaned up.

I vacuumed the floor and got a few things done. I still have to get that mess on the counter done, so I can cut my white fabric for the 9-patches. It needs to be done and before they arrive. I will try and work on it tomorrow.

BEST OF ALL THE MARINER'S WON!!

At least today I was having fun being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Lazy Sunday - BUT THE SEAHAWKS AND MARINERS WON!

This morning, I did some cleaning. The usual Sunday morning routine.

The I worked on my bookkeeping and my genealogy. I wanted to work on some letters that were written by my mother's uncle. I entered them in the Letters from the Past blog. I was able to add about 4 or 5 letters. I also added my grandmother's obit on that page as well. I was surprised to see where he was separated from his wife in 1926. Not sure which one that was. But in 1927 he found Jo - the one who had a son with him - and even mentioned her name. That was the first time I saw that. Since he was married 7 or 8 times, it would have been nice if she would have said who his wife was. This one was in Portland, and he said she had property in Canada. That was interesting, since she was born in ND. But then my dad's family had property in Canada as well. I have more letters to read and will find out more about him. He has a fascinating life and maybe someday, someone will write about him. I think the reason my grandfather didn't go to visit him was because of my grandmother. Plus, he always called her "and wife" in the letters. I don't know if that was a "dig" or just something he did to everyone.

Then I went to watch the game. Seahawks won today! Then we watched the Mariner's game and we won that too! WOO-HOO! We are winning.

I got my mail all set to go to the post office, but it's a holiday tomorrow. So, it's going to have to wait till Tuesday. I still don't know if I have a PT appointment Tuesday - I think we forgot to schedule it.

I worked on laundry. The funny part around the house is since we got new chairs, Sophie hasn't come around to sit with me. I don't think she likes the chairs. Or it will be a while before she decides if she likes them or not. So, she's been sleeping on the bed - ever since Patrick changed the quilt. She loves the quilt we have on it now.

Today, was just one of those days that didn't work out for Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Hello Saturday - A Day To Get Ready

Today, I was up earlier than usual. I wanted to participate in the war game this morning. I did for a while then went with Debbie to get "coffee." We chatted about the Mariner's game and a few other things. Not sure what's going on with the museum, but I do know the funding has been lost.

Came back home and headed downstairs. I needed to get ready for the sew days on Wednesday and had to pick a few things up.

I got started. The blue bag there was emptied with more fabrics that were donated. I cleared off the table a little. I need to put the bolts of fabric somewhere so we can pull the table out to have sewing machines on.

Took a "break" and went through the 4" squares that mom cut. I put them in sets of 4 & 5 for the 9-patches we will be working on. I have it set for 2 quilts at least. I don't think it will take long with a lot of quilters. We will make sure they set up the 1/4" seam allowance on everyone's sewing machine before we get started.

I did put a few things away and still have more to do. I'm going to work on cutting for another quilt, so, that pile of strips on the end will be put for 6" squares. Or something to that affect. I will work on it later to decide how I want to do that quilt. I put my stuff away. I have a few things I want to do, but till I do what I already have to do, it will have to wait.

Came upstairs after they dropped off our new chairs.

It's Lazy Boy and comfortable. It's sort of smaller than our old ones, but it's taller. I didn't notice that since I can put my feet down. On the old ones, I couldn't do that. I really like it. Sophie is trying to figure out where her chair went. She was always in my chair. I only felt her climb up above my head and not in my lap. It will take time for her to decide if she likes it or not. The old chair had 2 pairs of my scissors in it. Patrick brought them back to me. Scott and Patrick put them in the garage for now.

The rest of the day I played my games. It was hard on my back doing the work downstairs, but I will try again tomorrow to get it ready to be done. I want it done before Wednesday. I also need to get something for a potluck. I may do a casserole, since Patrick doesn't like those. I will see what I can come up with.

In other words, I didn't get the chance to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Another Interesting Day

First things first. I was at PT today. I took Bob some veggies from the garden. Afterwards I went to moms for the applique group meeting. I had been there first, but no one was there. So, I really didn't expect much when I went. I arrive to find Micheale there with Jeanine. Jeanine didn't have anything to work on, so I gave her mom's block that I was working on. Conversation went to the back basting issues. Jeanine doesn't do back basting, and she didn't know what to do. We explained it to her, and she did fine.

I worked on the baby blocks. I'm still shocked at moms' attitude towards doing the blocks. She stated she doesn't want to do another, nor does she want to help with the ones that are doing one. That's not like mom, but who knows.

I pulled out the Swade that I needed to get this one finished. The tough and the feet need to be done and then I can finish the back stitching.

This one is mine, and I finished getting the left ear on. Now I'm putting the collar on. Next will be to work on the face and then start the back stitching. It shouldn't take long. I just need to get it done. Plus I have another dog to do. I'm surprised at how long it's taking the group to do it, since they agreed to. Not my problem, I guess. Trouble is, I may end up being the one doing all the work. Don't want to be that person because it wasn't my idea.

I left early to go with Patrick to the casino. He wanted the day away. We played till about 5 pm and then went to the deli for his Prime Rib. I had a burger, but it really didn't taste like a "ground beef" burger. I was surprised. Not a burger I was happy with, but ate it.

We came home and watched the rest of the Mariner's game!!!!! WE WON!!! 15 inning and we WON! So, cool!!

So, my day was fun and interesting. Plus I was able to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Quilts of Valor Presentation Day

Today, I got ready for the presentation. Debbie called and needed a ride, so I picked her up. Then we went to Dutch Brothers for our drinks. Headed to the museum and it looked like there was stuff going on. We didn't mess with the "drama" as we were there for the veterans.

Marilyn came down from Tacoma to help honor our veterans. She helped present the quilts. It was awesome.

Kenneth Proske, Kathleen Powell (sister to Kenneth) are on the left. I can't remember the next 4 and the one on the end, but they were Lester Dow, Carroll Hill (his the fourth from the left) Alan Pierson, Wade Sampson. From the right, #2 and #3 are brothers - Tim Tidyman and Wayne Tidyman, Jr.

It was a lot of fun with this group! We had a good time and have enough quilts right now to give them out for the end of the year. The ones that come in will be ready for next year as we are done after November 11th - Veterans Day.

I stopped and got gas, then came home. I worked on the 2 certificates. One was needing a change, and the other was needing to be sent out. Kathleen was presented when we found out she served as well and wanted to honor them together.

The rest of my day was sitting and watching TV. Plus chatting with Patrick. We have our new chairs coming on Saturday. He wants to go to the casino tomorrow, but it will have to wait till after my PT and being at moms. He wants me home around 1 pm. lol

I wasn't in the mood today to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Working On Family History And Meeting Night

Today, I was up and ready for Val to come over. When she arrived, I was chatting with Debbie on the phone. We were working on Quilts of Valor stuff. Val won't be able to make it tomorrow. We'll see her next time. Our sew day is next week.

I then got to work on the family history. I wanted to work on Patrick's family some more. I added about 200 names to the Wiltzius tree. We now have 4,600+ names to his tree. I have more to work on, and will probably try to do that this weekend. I worked on my Taylor family tree yesterday and it's over 14,000 names. The research is fun. I did find some had different dates than I do, but I decided to keep the dates I have because it's usually wrong when I get the dates they have.

I then played on my tablet and relaxed with Patrick. His brother, then sister called, so it was easier to play and listen then it was to work on the trees.

After supper we had a water meeting. Only 4 houses of 24 houses showed up. We have to up the fees and we had sent out a message to everyone they needed to attend because of raising fees. It's amazing how many people don't attend these meetings. Scott and Patrick do all the work, and they still won't come. Oh, well. They will be getting a bill her shortly.

We got back at 8:30 pm, so I didn't have time to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Been Thinking Of The Past Again

This morning, while showering, I had a thought about toilet paper and toilets. Weird how we think of things while in the shower! This of all things! But I found myself thinking of the past - yet again. I do miss my father!

I remembered the story my dad told me about having to go out to an "outhouse" to use the bathroom. I knew of outhouses, but thought toilets was before his birth. Guess not. Anyway, I remember him telling me that they didn't have toilet paper like they do today. When I questioned, "then what did you use?" He came back with "magazines and corn cobs." I was shocked. Corn cobs? Then we laughed about how rough it was to use a corn cob and if you weren't careful with the magazine the ink would get in places you wouldn't want it to. lol He even told me of how they would jump out at each other when they wouldn't expect it, and playing pranks. I can imagen what dad and his siblings would do to each other! They loved to play games and prank each other.

Then my brain went to when I was 5 years old and we were traveling to WA from MD. We stopped at dad's cousin's place in ND. Adams, ND was where my grandparents were from. I remember I needed to go to the bathroom and asked mom where the bathroom was. Both mom and dad told me it was "outside." I went around the house looking for the bathroom and came back. I asked again, and when the rest of the family figured out what I was asking, they all laughed. Dad took my hand and walked me out to the outhouse. I smelled it, turned around and said, "No, that's not a bathroom." I refused to use the outhouse. So, they brought me back in the house and his Aunt told them I could us the "chamber pot." A CHAMBER POT! Ok, that didn't go over well. She pulled it out from under the bed. I looked around and said, "nope." Dad then told me, it's either the outhouse or the chamber pot. Nothing else. I looked around in this big room and was embarrassed of going in such a big room. I couldn't figure out how to use it. But in the end, I pulled up my dress and went. I was more embarrassed when they took the pot out to clean. I learned how to use a chamber pot while we stayed overnight.

I also thought of my great grandmother who lived in LaGrande, OR. We would go visit every time we came back to the US. Between dad's military service sending us overseas most of my life, we would come back to Seattle and visit. We made time for great grandmother as well. Her bathroom had a toilet with the tank in the wall about 8 ft high. It was one you pulled the handle on standing up. You had to look at the toilet and reach for the pull handle off the tank. The pipe ran down from the tank into the toilet. It was a 2-piece toilet, not like todays.  All of this was part of my growing up. Things change. My children have probably never had to use an "outhouse" or even a toilet like grandma's. I haven't had to use magazines or corn cobs to wipe. I wondered when toilet paper came to be. I do remember the brown toilet paper we had to use in the 60's. That wasn't soft, closer to sandpaper then what we get now.

Again, I was thinking of the past. And yet, it kills me, that I think of stuff like this! I don't think of interesting or memoirs that are of places I've been. I think of everyday things that make me wonder where they will improve on them. I may have to blame my husband for working in the Wastewater field for having some of these thoughts. And yet, life goes on.

Okay, we were gone most of the day. I had my physical therapy and then we went to the casino where I got a pillow for the gift. We played on their money for a long time. Then we played another hour or so and came home.

We stopped and had supper at DQ. My chicken was dry in the sandwich, so the sauce was good to have on it. Patrick had the strips and he liked that. We always get a peanut buster parfait. That's aways good. lol

Now I'm finishing a few things for Thursday's presentation. I did find one of the ones we entered to receive a quilt went to Mossyrock and should have come to us. I'm going to let it go, don't want to deal with Cindy on that.

Now the day is gone, and I'm sorry to say I was not Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Got Busy Today

This morning, I decided to head into town and get a few things done today. We didn't have our BE meeting because Geralyn was at her Wool group. Looks like things are getting harder with us meeting. I have had to cancel all last month and now it looks like we will be canceling part of this month as well. Oh, well.

I was in town, stopped to see Phil while I was in town. I got some stuff at Safeway, and the chicken looked good and fresh, so I bought some. I had to keep it warm - in the bag - till Patrick got home to have lunch with me. He was golfing.  Colleen texted while I was out, to ask for backing and batting. I was sorry I didn't get that before I left.

Then I played on my games and watched TV while he mowed the yard. I was doing laundry while he was outside. I cut the backing and batting for her. Then washed the backing.  I let her know I would drop it off tomorrow on my way to PT. My appointment is at 11, so I hope to get there around 10:15 am just in case.

After supper, I charged my tablet and then pulled out my beading.

Number 2 of 3 is done. I started number 3 after I finished this. I am close to having the first set of ornaments done. It will be fun to get started on the next set. It's Oct, so I am a little ahead. I hope I can keep that up too.

At least I found the time to get my butt moving and do something! It makes it easier to be Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Still Not There Yet

I'm getting tired of this cough! I'm getting better, but it's driving me crazy!

I slept in today, because I could. lol I went to check on the game I was playing and found I was getting points for just sitting in the towers. I'm okay with that because I didn't want to play the war game today. I did play my Seeker's Note game. I'm still trying to get it done.

I really haven't been in the mood to do anything lately. Not sure if it's just not feeling good, or if there is something else going on in my head. I will keep working on it.

I did pull out the beading for about an hour.

I was able to get half of this piece done. I don't have far to go to finish it. I had to re-wire it and get more done. Decided I was done with it. Sophie was hoping I would let her sleep on me when I pulled it out.

When I booted her off me, I got this attitude from her. She wasn't happy with me.

It did make it easier for me to get some beading done. That was a short time of Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Just Not There Today

Yep, just not there today. I wasn't in the mood to do much. I'm still coughing and getting tired of it! I'm still not 100% better. My ears started popping, so it's getting better instead of worse.

I pretty much played my games. I did go out and walk once around the neighborhood. It hurt when I got down by Ron's place. So, I stopped and chatted with Dustin. We talked about how Ron is doing. Then I came back home. I was able to do one lap, but it's only about a half a lap and not a full one. Little bit at a time.

Then I went with Patrick to see the garden. The deer had a feast. The kale was all gone, carrots missing their tops and the beats were missing their tops as well. It was funny looking at it. Patrick was clearing the garden anyway, so it was fun to see what was chopped off. The tomatoes were a little but not much. Guess the tomatoes aren't as tasty as the rest of the garden.

I baked some White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies. I got the recipe from online. I liked the cookies, but I think I want the old Chocolate Chip recipe and then add in the nuts and chocolate. This recipe was good and had the butter turned to brown butter. I would do that. I just couldn't find my original recipe. I will have to do more looking and make sure I put it in my book.

We pretty much just enjoyed the day by watching TV. I was listening to my book when Patrick started watching something I didn't want to. Oh, well.

Sophie wanted her attention. So, I had to get her to sit still for a while. Then when she was happy, she got up and went to the couch where Patrick was.

Looks like we won't be doing embroidery on Monday. We will next week. I have QOV presentation on Thursday. Should be interesting this week. As much as I would love to say I was, I wasn't Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

A Nothing Day

From interesting to nothing. Not bad! lol

Today, I was coughing still. I hate this mess I have! I have been coughing so much that I get a headache every time!

I cleaned up the kitchen, house and whatever else I could find. I worked on laundry. Then I played my war game that took 2 1/2 hours. It was fun and we won. So, I'm shocked I am moving on to the next round. It's interesting. I'm learning a lot but I'm still staying in the middle of the pack. Each round they eliminate those who don't reach the right level. It's fun.

I played my search and find game as well. It's almost over with the new aviators and I would like to get them. Probably won't though. It's still fun to try. Better Halloween is the next theme.

Sadly, I wasn't anywhere close to being Happy Quilting/Happy Stitching!

Interesting Day

This morning, I needed to go to my PT appointment. First, we had a war game, which I could only play part of. I played for the first 25 mins, then when I got to the appointment, I played another 10 mins.

Texted Bob and told him he needed to come and get the veggies because I couldn't carry them. I brought the walking poles that I borrowed from mom. I was told I can try and walk on them around the neighborhood. I was going to, but then on the way home, got a text saying my credit card was hacked. So, I asked Patrick about it. Since he was going to the credit union anyway, I went along to see what was up.

We got to the credit union. I asked about my credit card, he checked it out and gave me another card. I asked about the charge, and he said it wasn't on the card. I'm okay with that, a new card works for me. Patrick's card had been blocked, so he gave him his card as well. I think my card that we shared was destroyed last time, so I didn't get one this time. Oh, well.

Came home and I played for a while. I let Patrick sleep while I listened to my book and played my game. Had another war game. At least we won them both.

Charged my tablet and then sat down to work on my applique for the baby quilt.

Of course, Sophie had a different idea!

Applique is easy enough. I'm getting a lot done on this. I have to finish the left ear, then the tie. Once those are done, I need to add the noise and eyes. Embroidery will be last. I was surprised I got as much done as I did. I haven't been doing applique in a long time. At least it's coming along. I ended up with the other dog for this pattern. So, once this is done, I have the next one to work on. Oh, well. Mom's group is lazy when it comes to doing stuff for others. Mom won't even do the other dog, and she got her pig done first. Nancy and Carmen haven't even started and are on a cruise till after the 10th. So, it's going to be interesting if anyone gets much done for this quilt. AND it was THEIR ideas.

At least I was able to find the time to do some applique, which made me Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Trip To Olympia To See Sheryl

This morning, I had an appointment in Olympia. Sheryl and I worked out getting together for her group to quilt 10 of our quilts. She also gave me 8 quilts from her stuff. I told her to feel free and take any of the quilts I brought for their group. They aren't the prettiest, but they will do in a pinch. She is getting those quilted for us.

I had my appointment and I'm comfortable with what the surgeon said. I was asking about the fluid in my breast that was where the cancer was. It's common to have. He said if they tried to take the fluid, it would fill back up, if they took it out, chances are it would come back. As long as we keep an eye on it, it should be fine. So, like everything else, I have to just keep an eye on it. Self-breast exams as well. I was happy with what he said and will just watch it. The radiologist would be able to determine if there are changes in that area, but otherwise, it's common. Good to know.

Then we headed to Costco. By that time, I was hurting! We got stuff for both mom and Phil. Then we dropped them off at mom and Phil's. I wear a mask to make sure I didn't pass it to mom. Patrick and Christine were there helping her with USAA. She all set now. Then we stopped at Phil's and dropped off his stuff. All's good.

Then we came home. I played on the tablet a bit. Then I pulled out my beading - need to get moving on this!

Didn't get a lot done, but I did more than half of this part. I wasn't all there. Had to do a few other things as well. I'm busier than I want to be. We got plane tickets to visit Patrick's sister. We worked on getting our chairs scheduled to be delivered. So, a lot came up today.

I'm just happy to be able to get back into the mood of being Happy Stitching/Happy Quilting!

Out And About Day

This morning, I was up and playing games. I watched one of my shows and then Patrick walked into the house. It was early for him, since he w...
