Beautiful Day!

By the time you read this, I'll be at the bowling alley trying to bowl another 200 games. My luck usually isn't that good though! lol

Today is a beautiful day! Suns out and the weather is nice and warm. Loving the day!

I'm also staying in the house, because I can't take the heat. lol

I figured out what was giving me problems the last couple nights. I was sewing the ends up wrong. I ended up taking out a good 8" of seam, because I didn't do it right. After taking out the seam, I figured out I was sewing it with too much fabric on the back side. Now it lays flat and is so much easier to move along!

9 chances out of 10, it's the seam lately. I end up taking out stitches, till I get to the seam. I try to get as much as I can on the upper part of the boarder, and then do the seams, that way I can quilt the two bottom "lines" on the quilt. That seems to work a lot better than trying to sew the seam, do the two lines upward and try to meet in between. Some times that would work, but now I'm going to sew it when I get closer to the bottom of the edge.

I'm getting closer to the 3rd hump. So, I'm going to try and get it finished by the time we go bowling.

Hope to see you Happy Quilting!

Spent Part of the Day with a Friend

Last night while watching TV, I'm happy to say, quilted on my Hawaiian quilt. I'm in the middle area of the second side.

This is where I finished up the other day.

Working toward the second "hump" in the road. lol - actually that is were the leaves come out toward the center of the quilt.

Getting closer. I did have some issues with my quilting last night. Even when I had the board (photo) under my work to help me make sure it is flat, I still had some problems. I don't know what I was thinking last night. I shouldn't have had any problems, but I d take out about 6" from two "rows." I was not thrilled, but I wanted it to work out right.

Today started out like any other, walking, cribbage, and exercise. After that, I spent a few minutes working on a survey and then headed to a friends house. I decided to take my boat quilt that Phil had quilt stitches on.

I got more done than I expected. The best part about all this is that it is small enough to take with me. I did another "sash" area, and started on the boat on the right of the center boat.

I'm making this an easy quilt project. So the pattern in the sashing is really easy and quick to do. I goes really fast.

Rose still had to do a project before I left. So, we took about an hour (would have been less) to make these "tissue covers" that she thought would be really quick and easy. This time she was right, and we ended up finishing 4 covers. Hers was of sunflowers and green.

On my way home, I just had to get a photo of the mountain! I could see Mt. Rainier - but couldn't get to a spot to get off the road to take a photo.

So, on the way home decided I would at least get a photo of Mt. St. Helens. All three photos are of Mt. St. Helens,

I arrived home to find Charlie waiting on me - or at least looking like she was waiting on me.

Must be nice to be that lazy!

Now, I'm going to get back to my exercises, and try to get more done on the Hawaiian. Next week is my retreat - and I don't know if I can post from the retreat or not. I will take my computer to write up what I'm doing. It may end up being a post for three days that are three days behind. Oh, well.

May you be Happy Quilting!

Quilting Day!

Today started out being a cleaning day. I can say it's great having a hubby that likes things clean and will help with the cleaning as well.

After a morning of playing, cleaning, and kicking a cat out the door, I was able to quilt! Charlie decided to dirty up the carpet this morning, so she got kicked out of the house and will be out there for awhile. Patrick won't put up with a cat that won't ask to go out. She decided to get up and go over by the table and "poop!" That ticked Patrick off and out she went. So, I put her food outside, and will bring it in tonight, then take it out in the morning. We'll do that for a while I know.

Woke up to rain.

Everything got soaked - yet again.

Last night I started back on the Hawaiian quilt  At this point, I was able to get quite a bit done.

I reached this point by the end of the night.

While we were waiting on my folks to get here so we could go out to eat, I started where I left off last night.

This was the first "hump" on this side of the quilt. so, I worked it out and had it done in no time.

I was able to get to the second "hump" by the time they arrived. I figured I am a fourth of the way done so far. That means on whole side is done, and I'm working my way to the next side. It's going fairly fast, so I'm getting a lot done with I sit down and work on it.

I'm really happy with the way it's coming along. The photo up above looks like there is a "pinch" in the fabric, but it really does lay flat. I haven't had any problems with puckers recently, so it's going along great.

While going to dinner in Kelso today, mom talked about the retreat. At this rate my mother way be going to the retreat. I'll know in a few days.

Tomorrow I will be going to my sons, so they can help me out with getting a tablet for my Birthday. I decided I want to get myself a tablet, and I want to have them help me.

All's well here, and at this rate, I may have this quilt done yet!! lol - Guess I'm having a hard time finishing it, because it's like letting your kids grow up! lol I'm looking forward to being Happy Quilting!

Nothing New today....

Today was one of those days that Patrick wanted to go out. So, we went to the movie "The Other Woman" and enjoyed it! That is a movie to see! I laughed more in this movie than I've laughed in a long time when it comes to the movies.

I have been working on my last "Affairs of the Heart" block. I haven't taken a photo of it yet. I am disappointed with my work! I don't know why this block is being a pain for me, but it is. I have done 3 of the hearts in the middle, took out the 4th heart. I will work on it some more tonight.

Charlie was enjoying what sun there was out there today. She wasn't too thrilled when we left today, but she was there to greet us when we came home.

I'm going to try and get a few blocks done, but since today is chilly, I'm going to pull the quilt out and work on it.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have some photos to post on the Hawaiian while I work on it tonight.

May you have a great day, and be Happy Quilting!

One More Project DONE! WooHoo

Today, I'm happy to post that I have finally finished the cross stitch Lamplight's. It is washed and ready to be framed.

Beads were added to the center area greens. I had a blast working on this. There are a few "mistakes," but at this point, if you want to take a pattern and compare it that closely - then that's your problem! lol

It looks awesome in that photo!

Today was one of those days Patrick took off. It was a pretty day, knowing the rain will be back shortly. I had so much fun taking photos of our apple tree in the back yard!

It's full of blooms! Bet we get a ton of apples this year!

Clouds were out there as well, but they were the pretty ones that are white. I remember as a kid sitting under a tree with a friend comparing the clouds to shapes.

Apple blossoms are really pretty!

Our Lilacs are growing too. They aren't as big as other Lilacs have gotten, but they are a pretty purple.

We may get a full bush full of Lilacs this year.

So, now I have one more project this year done! It's awesome! I'm thrilled to have one more to cross off my list. Now, I can get back to my applique and quilt projects. I need to get my blocks together this week and put them in a suit case for the retreat. I'm hoping to get a couple quilt tops put together. If I do that, that will be two more projects done! I'm starting to see more of the older projects around that needs to be done as well. One at a time and I'll get there! I will pull out my Hawaiian and get that done as well.

Today we tried to put our Comcast DVR set up on the TV. Patrick called them, and would you believe he talked to 5 different people, repeated everything each time, and they still could not find the number to set our TV up. So, right now we are watching TV downstairs on the other TV, waiting for Comcast to call back to get the HD box set up. How much you want to bet they don't call tonight?! Ugh.

In the meantime, I'm hoping to be Happy Quilting!!

Thank you all!

I want to thank everyone that has left a kind message to me about my SuperPower. I appreciate all the comments, and you've all made my day!

I waited till the SuperPower was over, before I started posting again. Funny part is, I almost forgot to post!!

Last week while working on my cross stitch, I went a purchased a couple needle threaders. I have been looking for these for a long time!!

These work really good! I can't wait to use them, now that I have them! I need to get the cross stitch done first.

I did finish the "wallet" that I was working on. I need to take more photos of what kind of wallet it is.

I finished the needlepoint for the wallets. This is the designs that came out when doing the needlepoint. I worked on this last week to have it done by Friday - so Bev could show us how to finish it off.

Because I ran out of yarn, I used another variegated yarn that kinda matched. This is the end result. This "wallet" is a trick wallet that holds money. You put a bill in there, open it and it's being held by the wallet. You open it another way and it's been moved to the other side of the wallet - attached. I'll try and take photos of it later so you can see how it works.

When I finished the wallet, I went back to working on my cross stitch. I decided it was time to get it done and move on to my quilt projects.

After our quilt meeting today, this is where I am. I still have a few more things to get done. I need to finish the "lights" on the bottom lamp lights. I also need to add a couple more starts to the other lamplight areas.

I had problems with my "spider" stitch. I took one of them out about 4 times before I "remembered" how to do them, and I found out it was actually easier than I thought it would be. Once I got into a pattern, it was easy-peasy!

I actually love this stitch! It was so easy and so much fun! I was hoping to have this stitch in here  more than once, but that wasn't the case. lol

Now you know, I have not been working on my quilting stuff, I've been working on finishing this project. Once this is done, then I'll be thrilled! I'll add this to the finish projects I've been getting done this year! It's exciting to see all these projects finally coming to an end!

I'm hoping you all have a great day, and are Happy Quilting!

My Superpower Day!!

My Superpower is

Cross Stitch
& Quilting!
What is your SUPERPOWER?

I've been working on this cross stitch project for some time and decided it would be perfect for the Superpower.

I was able to get most of it done, but still need to finish the bottom part and outlines.

I'm excited about finishing this, as it will only take me another day or two! I have been working on this for the past 2 days straight, with little break, and no computer!

That's a big thing for me! lol This pattern is "Pollyanna's Summertime Lamplighter Knot Garden" by Liz Turner Diehl, Inc. There are a couple more patterns that go with this one. I'm hoping to get the patterns and do them as well.

As you can see, I have a love for all crafts, whether it is quilting, cross stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, applique, or any other form of craft. My projects keep me busy and I enjoy working on anything that "catches my eye." I have been enjoying the last month, as I'm actually getting my UFO projects done. So far this year, I have completed at least 3 projects, 1 that was started this year. I promised myself I would not start another project till 2 of my UFO's are finished. That way I can keep ahead of the game! (Or at least I hope I can! lol)

I was thrilled to be a part of the Superpower hop. This is a why to meet other crafters. Be sure and check out the other Superpowers on the hop!  I have the other hoppers listed at the bottom of this page, so you can click on their links. If you want the list for the rest of the week, check out my "April 14th" page. I hope you have been enjoying the view!

Over the years I like to find cross stitch patterns that I would love to have on my walls. I've given a few projects away as gifts.

I would like to thank the sponsors of "My SuperPower." Those are: DMC, Pauline, and Mdm Samm. Mdm Samm put on this wonderful program and Pauline is an awesome cheerleader! There are some wonderful ladies out there that put this on, and I give them a lot of respect for what they did.

Check out the others who will are scheduled for today! Hope you enjoy the fun and are Happy Quilting!!

Working on my SuperPower!

Today I spent the whole day working on my SuperPower to post on the 17th. I would show you what I'm up to, but that wouldn't be a surprise now would it?

I did make a "Winter Wonder Log" for dessert. I decided I'd post it on here so you can see how easy it is. I got the recipe several years ago, from Birds Eye.

Winder Wonder Log

1 pkg Jello Pistachio flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
1 cup milk
3 cups thawed cool whip whipped topping
1 pkg (abt 38) thin chocolate wafers

Prepare pudding mix with milk. Let stand 5 minutes. Blend in 1 cup whipped topping.

Spread mixture on wafer. Stack as you go to foam a log.

Wrap & chill 2-3 hours.

Unwrap & frost with remaining whipped topping. Garnish & slice diagonally.

NOTE: Good garnishments are chocolate pieces. You can decorate it for Christmas time, or just make it look like a log.

That has been a family favorite for a long time.

I've been working on my Affairs of the Heart block, but didn't get a photo of it. Will show you all that one as well, later.

I did get a few photos of the moon, but they didn't come out as good as I would have liked, so decided not to post those.

In the meantime, I'm Happy Quilting!

Another Beautiful Day!

Today was an awesome day! I even spent time out on the deck!

No clouds out today. Even the birds were out and I tried to get a photo of a hawk that was flying around, but by the time I could see him, he was too far away. I just wish I would have noticed him sooner.

Patrick's flowers are in bloom and looking awesome! I had so much fun going around and taking photos of his plants.

Rhodies are starting to bloom too! We have a lot of different kinds in our yard. I enjoy the different colors. Unfortunitely, we weren't able to get a trimming of the plant that was given to my mother when my sister passed on. That tree is at the farm, and since they no longer own it, we don't have it any more. At least it's still alive - at least I hope it is.

Patrick spend part of the day washing my car and his truck. I love how it shows his shadow in my car! Means he did a great job! lol

Another plant in the yard.

Well after I "played" and took photos, I cam out on the deck and enjoyed the cool breeze as well as quilted some more on Phil's quilt.

I'm a little surprised at how thin the batting is, but if I remember right, they were thinner back then for hand quilting. AND Yes, I'm left handed. So is my husband and my son. So, it wasn't that hard teaching him how to quilt - since he's the same as I am.

As you can see, this is going to be a simple pattern. I'm just doing as I go. It shouldn't take long, as long as I keep working on it. I have been known to start it and stop. As I was quilting on it, I thought of how simple it would have been to use as a math problem for a child. If I had finished it sooner (20 years ago) I could have asked questions about how many window are in the boats. How many sails are there, etc. LOL - Guess I'm about 20 years behind on that one!

I figured out what meal I would take for Hildi on Friday. She's been in the hospital for 2 weeks, and hopefully is home today. Our group is planning on fixing them supper for awhile so that they don't have to do it, and they can rest! Car accidents are no fun, and we're lucky they both made it out alive. Funny how I've said that twice in the last year.

As I sit here on the deck typing this - Charlie has moved twice. She's moved about 10 times in the last hour and a half actually. Guess she gets too warm in one spot and moves to anther warmer spot. Go figure!

Okay, time to sign off - life is good and the weather is awesome! I hope you enjoy the weather, stay warm and are Happy Quilting.

Tree Lighting Event

Yesterday was one of those days, that when I got home, I went to bed.  It started out with going grocery shopping and stopping to visit wit...
