Today I woke early because of the sun. Worked on my games till Patrick got up. We then went to the casino like we do some Saturdays. We didn't stay long, they were remodeling.
We stopped and picked up some strawberries for mom's Birthday dessert. Came home and cleaned house. I need to go downstairs and clean up my mess in my quilt room. I'll probably do that tomorrow and take photos as I do. It's gotten pretty bad lately because the work I started is still in the process and on the counter. Once I get it cleaned up, then I'll feel better about going down there and working on stuff. I also need to get my containers moved around and put my QOV stuff in one place.
This is a small quilt Judie made. It's pretty and I really like this one. I've asked my son if he wanted it and got a "maybe."
This is a beautiful table runner she made. She also did a smaller quilt of this same color and design. I really love what she did. I did get her pattern, and who knows I may make one myself. I love her color choices!
One of mom's Rhodies blooming. I love this photo!
At this rate, I haven't done any crafts in the last three or four days. If I can get my room cleaned tomorrow, that may change. Monday will be busy buying food for the meeting on Tuesday. Then Tuesday will be our Annual Meeting for TAS, which I'm excited about!
All in all, I'm trying to be Happy Quilting!
This is a blog that shows my quilting, Brazilian embroidery, cross stitch, beading and more. It's a daily blog that shows how busy I can be with too many projects and how lazy I can get at times. Even boring at times. It was originally for my children who where miles away. Now, it's just a blog.

Received An Awesome Gift Today
This morning I slept in till 7:30 am. Ruthie left for awhile. I'll be without a walking partner for a little bit. I was up and ready to go. I worked on MTurk for some money. I didn't want to go to the quilt meeting today, so stayed home.
I then went and worked on my genealogy and added another 200 names. While I was doing that, Patrick came home early and found a box at the door.
We opened the box from his father. It was the stuff we were asked to pick from while we were there last week.
This is one of her table runners she made. Judie did an awesome job on her quilts and cross stitch. This quilt top still needs a few more stitches and I will finish it for her. It's really pretty and I was surprised at how beautiful her work was. She would always tell me her work wasn't that good. She said her work wasn't as good as mine. While looking at her work, I found she did a heck of a lot better than me! Her points are so perfect! Her quilting is so small....I'm jealous, and only wish I could tell her that in person!
She made these blocks. I'm thinking about how I want to put them in a quilt. I may just put them in a table runner, but not sure yet.
The blue quilt was one I really liked. This is the one Katt picked out for herself. It's big and really pretty! The black quilt was a wall hanging I made (photo below) and the one under that is another table runner she made.
This is the quilt.
I made it back in 1988. It's a year older than Katt! I just realized that. I remember stuffing the kangaroos.
This is one of several afghans I made for her. When we were first married I found out my mother-in-law collected afghans and showed them in her white family room. I made her afghans to go in her collection. Patrick liked this one and wanted to bring it back home. It's got a sparkle to it in the whit areas.
I found this in the cross stitch stuff Judie was working on. This is so tiny!! It's perfect stitches!! She taught me how to do "counted" cross stitch and I thought my work was pretty good till I saw hers! I learned a lot from her, but at the same time, I wish I learned a little more.
This is one of the cross stitches she was working on before her hands couldn't do any more work. She wasn't able to work on any crafts in the past 5-10 years. She really missed it. She was outlining this and I'm going to finish it for her.
She started this for my father-in-law and I'm going to finish it for him. He told me I didn't have to do that, but I'm going to. I love her work! She did a beautiful job!
This is a cross stitch I did in 1993 for her. It was a Christmas gift to her. Now it's back here. I forgot I had made this for her. I did have fun making this one.
After going through the box (and yes, there was more in there), I put some of the stuff away. She had some cutting rulers, fabric and other quilt supplies. It was hard at times going through them. It was different when she was alive and giving me things, but now, it's different. Partly because I know she won't be around to show her what I've done for her.
We went out to eat and saw the movie "Dead Pool." Not a movie I would go to, but it was cheap and we had dinner at the movies. If they would have taken the gore out and the language as well as the sex, then it could have been entertaining. Not something I was all that crazy about and was a little grossed out on some of it. Patrick liked it, but agree the gore and stuff was a little much.
We stopped to see mom and dad. We played a game of gin, and I won the first two rounds, to end up in last place by the time we were done. Funny how that happens. Found out I need to get blocks ready for the group to work on. Not sure what quilt I want them to work on. I'll have to think about it.
I've been more interested in genealogy lately. I'm hoping to get back into working on my crafts, it was inspiring to see mom's stuff and mine. I was thinking I need to do an afghan for my nephew. I still have a couple months yet...I can keep thinking of it.
We all are doing good...Happy Quilting!

Not Getting In the Mood Lately
Got in my walk this morning. Got back to the house, and just couldn't get in the mood to work on anything. So, I worked on the Amazon account again to make some money.
Weird how I'm just not "into it" with my projects. I know I have projects to work on and I can't seem to get back to them.
I didn't go to our TAS meeting at the shop. I wasn't in the mood to see everyone. Guess with the loss of my mother-in-law, it's affected me more than I realize. I didn't think it would, but I'm beginning to think it has.
I worked on my genealogy this afternoon. I'm entering 70 pages of family to the computer. I need to work on my documents next and get more information in. I got in about 3 hours of genealogy in! That is pretty good considering it's been awhile since I worked on it. I'm hoping they have a sale on ancestry site. It's way too expensive right now.
Okay, I'm going to work on getting back up there and get some stuff done!! I really need to get off the chair and get moving!! I did dust in the bedroom today...guess that is something! lol
Keeping my head up! Happy Quilting!

Quiet Day......Tried to Relax
Today started out as usual...2.4 mile walk. My phones app wasn't working. Patrick took the car, since I had the day clear. Tomorrow and Friday is quilting but I've decided I'm not going to go to the meeting. Just not in the mood to go and I need a break. We have been very busy for the past week. I needed get back to normal and running around from meeting to meeting wasn't going to get me feeling better.
I worked on my amazon stuff again today. Then I played a few games. I vacuumed and just tried to relax. Tried is the right word....didn't get there.
I did get to work on the genealogy just before Patrick got home. I was able to add some more information in on both the Wiltzius families and the Taylor families. I watched "Who Do You Think You Are?" and was surprised to see Scott Foley was related to Patrick!! He's grandfather that was hung in the witch trials is also Patrick's grandfather! I think Patrick has him as his 10th gr grandfather, while Scott has him as his 9th. Guess our side had children a lot earlier than Scott Foley's side. I'm still adding information and enjoying what I've been entering. I need to work on them, but I also need to keep working on adding the names of the family members. I also need to file those papers away now that I've gone through them. I also need to write some more letters to go on the other blog. I've just got so much stuff I want to do and little time to do it all. Between genealogy and quilting they both take a lot of time and I pretty much need to figure out which is more important to get moving. AND then I think they both are equally important.....so back to square one...where do I start and what am I going to work on.
I need to let things go. I seem to worry about things that don't matter. When it's all said and do, who is going to know? If I try really hard to make things perfect....who's going to say two weeks from now that I did a good job? It's going to be forgotten and life will more on. So, I need to let it go. I work on committees and try hard, but all in all, I need to calm down and let stuff go. RELAX...that's where I need to be right now.
Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow will bring...Happy Quilting!

Getting Closer To TAS Annual Meeting
Today started out walking 2.4 miles. Next i worked on my amazon account doing surveys.
By the time I stopped playing and working, it was time to go to our meeting. We had a good meeting. We are close to being ready for Tuesday's meeting.
Last night I got in some stitches on my cat cross stitch. It's getting to the center. I'm hoping I can work my way up without having to rip parts out.
Tomorrow I will see what I am in the mood for. I need to fix a few thing and finish a few things. I may sew tomorrow, hard to say.
May we all be Happy Quilting!

Brazilian Embroidery and Running Around...
Today started out with the usual 2.40 mile walk. Enjoyed the walk. Got home, showered, and then off I went to Safeway to pick up some water for Ruth, then to the dry cleaners, bank, and then to the church for our meeting.
At our meeting we worked on the scissor fobs. We were able to get 126 done for the Seminar in June. We also worked on our own personal scissor fobs. I had one done for trading and one for Ruth. By the time we were done, we had 2 claw clip fobs that we can sell for $10. I have them and will see if anyone wants to buy them later.
Got home about 2 pm and got to work on the laundry. I also fixed supper to go in the oven to cook for a little while. (smiling)
I was cleaning and working while I was watching the two shows, "Who Do You Think You Are?" I watched Scott Foley and was shocked to see he is related to Patrick! His ancestor that was in the witch trials is Patrick's 9th gr-grandfather. I now have to get Patrick to watch the show.
Since I was talking yesterday, about what we did on our trip, I didn't get to show the plants we bought yesterday. Patrick is getting the yard in order and we bought a few plants for hanging baskets and plant around the house. We had fun going shopping.
Mom and dad dropped by and gave Patrick 3 Rhodes for the loss of his mother. They are pretty. One is red and the other two are a little different but in the same area of color. It will be pretty in the yard. Funny how we seem to have a lot of Rhodes lately. lol
I'm thinking I will pull out the cross stitch and work on it tonight. I need to try and practice on my Brazilian embroidery Mum cast on stitch. So, till I'm in the mood to try it again, I'm going to do something else.
I've got to get moving on the TAS Annual Meeting as well. This week is so busy, I think I'm going to take Thursday off and stay home. It's our group meeting as well as Friday, but I really want to stay home! I'm tired of being gone so much.
Live is "full speed ahead" and I'm trying to keep up......Happy Quilting.

Back......
The last four days were busy and yet not so busy. So, I will try and give one a run down on what we were doing.
Wednesday morning we were up and running at 3:00 am. We had a 1 1/2 hour drive to SeaTac. We were told ahead of time that the lines with TSA were 3-4 hours long at times. We remembered hearing on the news to expect 3 hours. We didn't have to a lot of time to get moving. We did pick Phil up at his house and headed to the airport. To our amazement, there was no lines in the TSA. Rare for an airport of that size. We had "pre-TSA" and didn't have to take our shoes off or take anything out of the cases. It was a shock and we figured Judie was helping us out. After getting through the "not so" line, we met up with Katt who came in on her flight from Spokane. We enjoyed each other's company before Katt was off again to meet us once again in Chicago. We actually left an hour before her and waited for her in Chicago. We were able to be on the same plane to Green Bay. We picked up a car in Green Bay and drove another 1 1/2 hours to Gladstone, MI. There we were greeted by Patrick's family. We chatted for about another 1/2 hour.
The next morning we went out to eat with everyone.
Dennis and Patrick (brothers).
I ordered stuffed french toast with blueberries - think that's enough?! Woo! But BOY was it good! And NO, I did not eat the whole thing!
We then went to the funeral home where we had the viewing. We arrived around 2 pm and waited till 5 pm for the service at the funeral home. Patrick's speech was given by his brother, Dennis. It turned out very well. We then followed the casket to the church - across the street.
We then had mass for Judie. It was well done! She was a special woman and the Priest (Catholic - so probably said it wrong), did an awesome job. He even referenced to quilts! I was shocked and thrilled at the same time.
The flowers were beautiful and white. I loved the display they had.
The next day, we went out to eat - again - and then drove down to Marinette, WI to the burial services.
Again, the flowers were awesome! We were all given a rose, for those that wanted them. I did, and brought home 3 of them to press.
I put one of those on Patrick's great grandparents marker. Dennis placed some on his grandfathers. I told them how the tree went. They were able to see the family.
Judie was buried by the rest of the family - both Wiltzius and John families.
We all went out for Brunch with Judie's sister's family and then came back to Gladstone. We went out for "fish fry." We had a good visit with Patrick's brother, sister, and father. Wayne is looking good considering. We went through some of Judie's things and made a stack to be mailed to us. I got some of Judie's unfinished projects which I plan to finish for her. I will also get a few of her blocks that she started. There were blocks that she appliqued, and I was surprised! I didn't know she had done so much! She worked on applique!! I had no idea! I'm thrilled to see them and can't wait to work on them to finish them. I did take one of her quilts, and Katt took another one. I did get a few of the things I made for her back, and I left a few behind for anyone else to take. I gave one of the bags I made to my sister-in-law. She was thrilled to get it. I didn't want much. I did get a ring and necklace that Judie wanted me to have. I've been wearing the ring ever since. It's gold and "has a quilted pattern" that made her think of me. Now I can think of her by wearing it.
I found this hanging in the entry way of mom and dad's house. I had to take a photo of it, as it's Richard's metals. I loved what they did with it.
Yesterday was the opposite of Wednesday. We split in Chicago and meet back up in Seattle. Katt still had another hour for her flight to Spokane.
I did work on the basket while on on the plane to Chicago.
I did work on this, by finishing the rose on the way. Then I tried to work on the Mumms but not happy with the way it's going. I think I will work on a sample to see how to get this done! I'm going to take this out!
I have more to say about today, but will let it go for today. We went shopping for plants, and will show those tomorrow.

Don't Panic - I'll Be Back on Blogging Come Saturday!
Today started out fast. I was dressed and ready to go. Today was my one day a month where I take my old cribbage player to the casino. I'm happy to say, I came home with some money. The fun part is that it will come in handy when I go to the Seminar in June.
I had to stop at the Dollar Store to get some "kiddie" scissors. I have them ready to go with me. I have my Brazilian embroidery, two basket blocks, and a book for the trip. I'm ready, I think....but then I've been one of those people that forget something along the way.
We have wonderful neighbors and they will be helping us out! The camera's will be turned on, and we're ready. Not looking forward to waiting for 3 hours in line at SeaTac. UGH UGH UGH
I'm loving the flowers that Patrick's work gave us! They are so pretty. I'll post a photo when I get back. I will be without a computer, but I will have my phone....going to miss not being "hooked up!"
May you all be Happy Quilting!

Enjoying A Day of Quilting
Today we took our walk. Afterwards I got my quilts ready to take to the quilt class. I got the registration information together for the annual meeting. I then sent off a few emails explaining where I will be this week.
Once all that was done, I headed to mom's to give her the registration information to give to Nancy. Mom wasn't going to see Nancy, so I dropped it off. She was meeting at another gals house in the same area. Then I stopped to see Art to tell him we were still on for tomorrow.
After that, headed to the quilt shop for the hand quilting class. I took about 7 of my quilts to show my hand quilting. I brought my first two quilts. I even showed my first applique quilt that is falling apart. I also showed how I quilt. I was showing how I rock and how I hide my stuff. Everyone has a different way to quilt, and my way is another one. I forgot to take the tool I use to pull my threads when it gets hard.
I took Phil's quilt with me. I quilted on it while we were there.
I marked and started quilting the water area on the top middle block. I'm happy to say, I was able to get some stitching done! I got more done than I have been able to get in a long time. I seriously need to finish this quilt for Phil.
I went and got my hair trimmed. Then after that I stopped and got some nylons for the dress I'm going to wear. I just need to find the shoes I'm taking with me to wear. Really don't want to have to stop and buy shoes if I forget them.
I'm still doing the genealogy and it's fascinating at what I'm finding. There are mistakes, but I'll fix them when I get back to paying for ancestry. This way I will have the names and then go look for the documents that back up what I'm entering.
Tomorrow will be busy. Hopefully....Happy Quilting!

Sunday Genealogy and Bowling
Today I was up early and worked on one of the games on POGO to get the badges for the week. Still have one more game to do and then I'm done.
Got working on laundry, did the state license for our water system, and got working on my genealogy. Spend a good amount of time on genealogy. I was finding a few members and added another 150 people to my tree. I found a few mistakes in the papers I have, but will fix them as I find them. At least I have a start.
Yesterday Dad and Patrick work working on the garden dad has at Stillwater Estates. He wanted to get moving on getting it started.
Patrick was out mowing the yard and getting a lot of yard work done today. He's been busy all weekend working either here or at the folks.
We talked about the trip for the funeral. I realized there won't be any WIFI where we are going. We will be staying in the house that's up for sale, which means no WiFi for anyone. It's only for three days, so not too worried about it. Just means I won't be able to blog on here. So, for the record, Weds to Sat (back on Sat), I won't be blogging. I'm hoping I can blog Saturday but it all depends on when we get in.
I'm happy to say, I've been figuring out what I'm going to take with me to work on. I think the easiest thing for me to take is my Brazilian embroidery I'm working on. Who knows, I might just finish it.
Tomorrow I'm going to be at the Hand Quilting Class. I'm the demo person. I'm taking about 7 quilts of mine to show. I will work on how I hand quilt as well (at least that's what I think). I'm not sure what to expect, but it will be fun. I'm looking forward to it.
Bowled better today, but did have one game lower than I wanted. Bowled 180, 158, 180. Getting better. I've done worse lately, so happy with what I bowled.

We Will Miss you.....Mom Wiltzius!
Today was a sad day for us. Last night at 10:15 we received a test that mom (Judie Wiltzius) had passed on. We had been waiting for the news, as she was in a coma for a couple days. Judie died this morning at 1:15 am MI time. Life will not be the same without her. She was a very caring mother, wife and grandmother. I loved joking with her. I loved hearing her on the phone when we talked.
She didn't like her photo taken. I will find a better one. Brandi was always at her side. Mom, may you rest in peace! We will be there.
So, today I worked on genealogy. We even went and helped dad use the rototiller for his garden. Patrick has been wonderful. He's said, it was expected, he has no regrets. He was able to spend time with her on her Birthday. She wouldn't want us to stop "life." We are continuing to do what we do, and we will miss her, but we won't stop living because she has.
I'm still thinking of the things I'm working on. I'm working on my genealogy more. Life is good. I can say, I think Judie gave me some grey hairs! I woke this morning to find a LOT of white hairs on the top of my head. Hadn't seen that yesterday! Too funny!! I'm actually loving seeing it come in!
May we all be Happy Quilting!

Applique at Mom's House
Today was a day I could sleep in. I did get an extra half hour in on sleep. Didn't really get much sleep last night.
Got to moms at 8:45 am and was shocked to find I was the first one there. Was beginning to wonder if I was going to be the only one till they started showing up around 9:30 am.
Mom made 25 catchers that needed to have the buttons on. Some of us were sewing on buttons today. Others where doing their own thing. I loved Bev! She told them how embarrassing it was when the other group had all their stuff done and we only had 14 catchers. Didn't seem to open anyone eyes, but it did need to be said. lol
Last night, I decided I didn't like the center of that basket block, and took it out. I'm going to work on doing it up right.
Mom showed everyone where she was with the BOM that P3 Designs was doing last year. She loves this and so do I!! She did an awesome job.
Got home and cleaned house! I vacuumed, started dishwasher, go the laundry going and then worked on the Annual Meeting papers.
I had to get all the information done for the TAS Annual Meeting. Since we are waiting to see how Patrick's mother is, there is a possibility that we will be rushing to Michigan any day now. I had to get everything written out and given to a committee member just in case I have to go for a few days. Mom Wiltzius may not make it, and we have been waiting since yesterday. We are prepared, and have Katt and Phil ready to go when it comes time. I'm thankful I was able to get her her quilt before she came to this point.
I'm spending more time on my genealogy lately. I'm now on my "Elder" family members. When I'm not doing that, I'm still Happy Quilting!

A Quilting Day with Good Friends
Today was an interesting day to say the least. I did get my walking in, and then knew I needed to get to the quilt meeting by 10:30 and pick Kathy up around 10:15 am. Patrick called and gave me some bad news - will post when it is proper to post - and I was talking to my kids and hubby after I showed.
I got off the phone, looked at the clock and it said "9:45 am," I called Kathy and told her I was running late and will pick her up at 10:45 am. She said, "Ok." I got together SOME of my applique - thinking I didn't have the time to do that - and headed out the door to the credit union. When I left the credit union, I called Kathy and said I'll be there in about 5 to 10 mins. She then said, "Oh, okay." Picked her up, went to the store and said to Kathy, "Wow, we're the first ones here, where is everyone?" She said, "Oh, they'll be coming." We went into the shop, looked around got some fabric that we wanted....I looked at the clock to see why no one was there....and it was 9:50 am!!!! I was an hour early!! I went to Kathy and said, "Kathy, why didn't you tell me we were an hour early!" She and Rita laughed and said, "thought you knew." UGH. So we waited for everyone. We were the last two to leave.
I came home to find Patrick home. I went downstairs and stitched my fabrics into my book on dad's QOV quilt. This is only some of the fabrics I picked up for dad's quilt. Bev was at the shop when we were there. I showed her some of the eagle patterns for the 10" blocks that I wanted. She picked two of them and said she would make them for dad. I'm happy she's willing to help. I'm going to miss not doing those eagles though. She wanted to do applique. I'll have to do some of the blocks and hope we can get some good ones to go with the appliqued eagles.
I finished the applique basket block. I need to do the embroidery on it and then that will be one more block done. That will be fun to do and I'm hoping to do that by this weekend. I may do it tomorrow.
While we still wait for news, I'm still Happy Quilting!

Teaching Day...An Awesome Day
Today started out as usual, yep, I went walking again today....no surprise there, right?!
After walking I got home and got prepared for the "2 Fabric Applique" class. It was mostly getting scissors, light box, needles, pins, and markers. I was thinking of taking some applique that is reverse applique to work on. Never did get to that point.
The cat was at the shop up on the wall. I had 4 people in the class. It really worked out great. We had a great time. It went really well and I was able to do applique backwards! I couldn't believe it, but I was able to show how to do the applique a lot better than I did when I tried to do it in the Beginner class in Nov. We had enough light boxes because I went and got moms. Sharon brought 2 as well, so with 4 people we were able to have a box with each person. We started early and got going. I was enjoying how easy it went. I love the colors everyone came up with on their "2 Fabric Applique" quilt. One was a Rose, one the Acorn one I did a while back, and the other was the Dog pattern. I have the dog, just haven't done it yet. I really loved the colors they came up with. Time flies when one has fun! They will be basting the quilt for awhile. One or two of them are taking the class with Nancy Chong, so I'm thinking they should be ready with the quilt when that time comes.
I bought some fabrics at the shop while I was there. I wanted to get some fabrics to go with the QOV quilt I'm doing for dad. They are colors I'm not "comfortable" with but will work with. I'm sure they will work. I "kinda" like them, so I'm happy with my choice. Tomorrow before going to the quilt group, I need to get something going to work on. I don't have much in progress...which means I need to get more applique set for taking places to work on. I could take the eagle, but not quite there yet.

Meeting Day...Committee
Today we walked 2.5 miles. I must have woke up every hour last night! When it was time to actually get up, really didn't want to. Woke with a sinus headache. Took me a while to get rid of it.
I worked on my family history this morning. Then I went to our committee meeting at mom's. Didn't realize both mom and dad were not up to par! Mom had a mask on and dad was sleeping. They left about an hour into our meeting.
We worked on the donations. I'm amazed at how much donations we got. Everyone at the meeting will come out with something. I need to work on the fabric catchers. Our group only made 18 and we need 50. So, I''m going to make the triangles and have the group sew them together.
Bev said she saw the QOV quilt at the $5 quilt club meeting at the shop. She was wondering if her husband would be getting it. Told her I thought so, because she asked for a quilt by both Donna and myself. I also told her what we were going to do about the quilting of it. She was happy to hear she might get it. She said her daughter and son-in-law would be in town in July and it would be great if he was presented with it. We'll have to see if it gets done by then.
Patrick brought home a coloring book and pencils for me. He's been wanting me to quilt playing on the computer before going to bed, that way I will sleep better - or so they think. As for last night, I colored and then woke up every hour. We'll see if that works or not.
I'm teaching tomorrow - so if anyone wants to be in the class, come to the shop before 11 am when we start. I need to get the light box from mom so I have enough for the class. I'm looking forward to it. I need to get my stuff together for that too.

Making Fobs at BFF Group Meeting
Today started out with a walk. Afterwards, shower, and out the door. I got to our meeting at about 9:40 am. We all got get up and started in on making the fobs. I asked Bev to work on my two, since I had one that needed to be fixed and bought some beads for another one. I told everyone I had the claps for our fobs. We did get 91 fobs done for the Brazilian embroidery Seminar in June. We have a few more to do. Plus we need to have a card go with each one. I need to stop at Staples and get some card stock for that.
One photo of my fobs.
I like the way they came out.
This was the stack I ironed the other day. Just didn't have a photo to post at the time.
I worked on my genealogy again today. I added the rest of the TRUE family tree to my tree. I added another 500 names to my tree. I have a few things to file. Then I need to pull out another folder and get started on yet another stack of names. I've got so many documents and notes of all the families. I am going through all the stacks of boxes I was given from my great grandmother and grandmother who worked on the family history way back when. I'm double checking all the information I have been adding. It's coming along but I still have a ton to do. I need to file the stuff I just finished. I started over with all my documents, letters, and notes. What I file now will be "it" and I won't have to go back to them till someone wants the proof.
We have a committee meeting tomorrow. I'm looking forward to get it going. Life is good.....Happy Quilting!

All Day of Bowling.
Today was spent bowling - all day! I went down to Longview/Kelso area for our travel league. It was up to us to bowl good. We were bowling to see which team came out in first place. We were in first place and in order to keep it, we needed to win at least 8 games. I didn't bowl very well. I did get one game. I reach my average - 158 - once. That shows how bad I bowled. I got a 466 series. Not one of my better days!
Came home and had about an hour and a half before heading to Sunday night bowling. I was able to to get a few more family members in my genealogy. I also played a few games since I didn't get any playing in today.
We went bowling. Teresa and Kim beat me to the bowling alley. (I bowl with them in travel league) My first game was even less then my games early in the day - 137. I did pick it up after that. I bowled a 189 and a 187 - back to my average. Hard to believe I just couldn't get it together till the last two games! At least I bowled a 513 series! As long as I get a 500 series, I'm happy. At least things are looking up.
We had to say whether or not we were going to bowl next year. We waited to see if our partners were going to say if they were bowling again or not. They didn't, so we marked them with a question. Phillip showed up and I was so thrilled to see him! He's looking good! He is going to talk to Emily and see if he would be able to bowl with us next year. I'm thinking he will probably be bowling with Dan next year. I'm hoping he can bowl! It would be so much fun to bowl with him.
As one can see, I didn't doing any crafts today, but life does that to us. There is always something that comes up in life. I'll just have to wait till tomorrow. Tomorrow is Brazilian embroidery but we are still working on the fobs. I need to remember to take the stuff I bought with me. I bought some beads for my fobs and will do a couple of them. Need one for trading and want one for me. Plus I need to fix the one that broke on me.
Have a great day and be Happy Quilting!

Got Some Ironing In!
Today started out unusual. I woke and noticed Patrick wasn't there. Came into the living room thinking I must have kept him up with my snoring. Usually only snore when my allergies kick in. He was sitting up on the couch! That wasn't normal for him! lol Come to find out, he had been up so many times last night, he decided to quit trying to sleep.
We went to the casino. I hit a big (no not that big) jackpot. Surprised the heck out of me. Then we headed back home for about an hour before heading to the movies.
While we were home, Patrick worked in the yard. Planted a few plants, and I went downstairs and ironed all those half square triangles I made yesterday.
I tore off all the paper last night, and have a good stack for ironing. I got it all done. I'm happy to see my stack that's done. I was thinking I need to get a couple boxes and have them set up for QOV blocks and "work in progress" when it comes to sewing on the machine.
We went to the movie "The Boss." It was pretty good, but I still don't like swearing and the sexual remarks. It would have been a lot better, if they got rid of the "rude" stuff.
We got home and I went to work on my genealogy. I want to get a lot of the documents done that I've got in a pile. I'm slowly going through my boxes of genealogy stuff. I'm finding it's actually connecting in my head now, so I'm figuring out what happened. At least I want to believe that.
Other than that, my day went well. Not quite what I hoped for but won't complain! Enjoying the day and Happy Quilting!

I Actually Sewed Today!
This morning I was up and ready to go. So I thought. I was eating breakfast and relaxing in my chair when I was feeling like I needed to go back to bed! Weird, but I kept going.
I worked on the computer and headed downstairs. I was working pretty good and it felt like I had a long day ahead - not long in "ugh" but in "wow, I thought it was later then it is."
First things first. I needed to get started on the ironing I didn't do the other day.
Next I put the half square triangle paper on my fabric. Started sewing them up. I also worked on my strap strips. I added more to the strips so that I could have enough to do the half square triangles with it as well. Yep! I have three quilt tops going at once..when will I learn? Just like the song says, "When will I learn!"
I wanted to see if the strips would work for a QOV quilt. I do like the way they are coming out. It's a scrap quilt and it works. I'm happy with the way it came out. I think I'm going to do squares in the corners. I really don't want to do the half squares in the corner. The background is the bolt of fabric I bought the other day.
Got started on my stack to sew! I really, really did have a big stack! I was happy with how it went today. Then I cut them out.
I have them all cut! now I need to rip the paper off and iron them. They are now sitting next to me to do tonight. That way I can iron it this weekend. I have three different ones going. The strip half square triangles are the 4" blocks. The black and off-white is 6" blocks. I also have another QOV set of blocks that are 6" as well.
I took a break and fixed a homemade pizza. I was going to take a photo of it before we cut into it, but that didn't happen. As one can see, it went fast.
Last night I worked on this block. I do love working with Brazilian embroidery. It's fun and really pretty. Plus I get a quicker result then I do with quilting at times.
I'm working on my last rose. Then I have to do the cast-on flowers. I'm looking forward to working on that.
Today was a great day for working on my projects. I enjoyed the sewing machine - yea, I know, mark the calendar - I actually enjoyed myself today!
Looking good and looking forward to working on the blocks again. Bowling is all day Sunday. Not sure I can get much done this weekend, but I can hope! Happy Quilting!

A Little of This, A Little of That, Not Much of Anything
Today started out interesting for me. For some reason I woke and felt like I was drugged. I couldn't get up. I just kept falling back asleep. It was weird for me. I did finally get up at 8:30 am and got moving.
The rest of the day was like that - minus the drugged part. I just couldn't get myself to decide what I wanted to do. I loved the sun outside. I opened up the house and did laundry - or at least one load. Then I worked on the computer for a bit. I finally talked myself into going downstairs and try to get some work done.
Before going downstairs, I decided to fold all the fat quarters we (TAS Annual Meeting) got for donations. I folded them into the flag triangle. Dad would tell me I needed to do that a little better, but I just wanted to see what we had and get them folded. I'm hoping we have enough fat quarters to give out to everyone. These came from Connecting Threads. They were so kind to send these, considering I asked so late! I wish the gal that was doing it would have started sooner.
This is the Candy set. They even sent some patriotic fabrics.
This is what I was doing with them.

I worked on the half square triangles. I pinned a lot of pieces together. I got some for the QOV quilt and some for the scrap 9 patch quilt. I did get quiet a bit pinned. I really didn't feel like sewing them or ironing them.
Then I decided to take those strips I have and sew them together. I decided I'm going to make a long strip of them (striped all the way) and then cut them in the half square triangle. That way I can make scrappy stars. I think it will look nice. That way I can use up some of the scraps Donna keeps giving me.
So, here's my pile - right next to the iron. Nope - didn't feel like ironing, so they are still down there by the iron.
I went outside to enjoy the sun. I really wanted to feel the sun out there. It's been so long since it's been out around here.
Tulips are coming along great.
Grapes are starting to grow! I love seeing the new shoots coming up.
Lilacs are showing up. I'm going to pay for it tomorrow! I'm allergic to the smell...lol But I do love to see them growing.
Now it's evening and I haven't been watching TV or playing games. I didn't even listen to the radio today. I just enjoyed the weather. I did get some things done, but not near what I could have. I don't mind having days like this, but just hope I don't make a habit of it. The last time I made a habit of it, it was 10 years before I got back into working on my crafts. I can dream,,,,but that doesn't get me very far.
In the meantime....looking to be Happy Quilting!
