Enjoying Applique With Friends

Today was another early day.  Couldn't remember if Cherrill was leaving today or next week. Went over and it's next week.

Headed over to mom and dads. Since Judy's birthday is tomorrow, mom asked me to pick up cupcakes for her. I stopped and got gas, then got the cupcakes. One the way I decided to get some ice tea from Starbucks. Picked one up for Patrick as well. Dropped it off on my way to moms. Of course, when I left there, I braked and the cupcakes went flying throw the air! I had the in the front seat on top of my box - big mistake! Never do that! I was going down a small hill when I hit the brakes just a little too hard. Whoosh, crash, bang. Cupcakes upside down in the container. Guess I could be happy the container wad sealed or I'd have one big mess in my car.

Arrived at moms to find most of the group there. Minus Judy. Her daughter is in town, so she didn't make it. Maybe that's a god thing. That way she didn't have to see the cupcakes.

I worked on the bottom wing of the owl for the Forest Galorest quilt.

I was able to get all the wing pieces down. Now i will work on the next set above these. Mom wants to work more on this, so we'll do more next Thursday.

Since I'm doing this on my tablet, it's messing with me! Hopefully, it doesn't matter as long as I get this written.

Heildi was getting rid of a few things, so I took here crossstitch she has almost finished. It shouldn't take long to finish.

Came home and had 7, yes, 7, messages from 'Apple, Inc.' A scam that started yesterday. Yesterday we had 4 messages. All telling me of my apple computer issues. After getting 7 messages, i called Comcast and told them. He told me how to block the calls. I did. Then I asked what happens if they change the phone number and call again. He told me to keep one of the messages and call one other department so they can get on it. So, let's see if they start calling again on Monday. Today it started at 6:30 am.

I was able to get a few stitches in on the stocking. After we came back from supper, I worked on the top of the stocking. Realized I was doing some of it wrong. I'll explain tomorrow when I'm on my computer.

Happy Stitching! Happy Quilting!

Nice Day of Cross Stitching

This morning I didn't feel like getting up, so slept till 8 am. I was up and ready to go. I had to deliver papers around the neighborhood that had to do with our water system. I finally went out for a long walk around 10 am. I delivered the papers, and then walked up to Trevor Estates to see if Kitty was up in that area. I asked a gentleman if he had seen a Siamese cat in the area. He said no, just a rabbit. I thank him and came on home. I walked about 1.5 miles. It was good to get out there. The sad part of walking up there was seeing a mom with her son, waving bye bye to the dead kitty in the road. She kept look at it trying to figure out how she was going to get it out of the road. Guess I'm happy I didn't see Kitty dead on the road, but still hard not knowing. I'm going to give up now. I've done what I can for finding her. I'll just accept it, that she won't be back. Breaks my heart, but that is life.

I came home and started laundry. Then I worked on my cross stitch.

I worked on the hat as well as the scarf. It's now done. I finished up the 'J' today.

I added the greens on the left hat, hn I worked on getting the 'J' pieces filled in. I have a lot more to fill in but will do the rest later. I'm going to finish up the top of the stocking and get Katt's name on there. Then I'll work back and get the outlining done. So, I've stitch all the way up, now I'm going to outline on the way down. I still have some snowflakes to add as I work my way back done. It's really a lot of fun and I'm finding an end to this. It's actually getting me excited to get it over.

I got my owl ready for tomorrow. I've got quilting at moms and I know she wants to get moving on that quilt. So, I'll piece the pieces on the owl and get it ready for when we finish the borders to add the owl. She wanted me to come over yesterday but I really didn't want to go.

Guess my brother is coming up to see his granddaughter. I'm not sure when he's due, and I really have no clue what is going on. That's how things work in my family. 😄

The weather is in the 70's and is awesome. Comfortable and wonderful to enjoy.

We'll see how things go with my cross stitch. I'm itching to start another one, but I want to finish this one first. It keeps me going and I'm Happy Stitching! - Happy Quilting!

A Very Quiet Wednesday

Today I was up early. I went to help Cherrill and stayed to help her a little more with ancestry. We both do genealogy and I was showing her a few things on the website. She's finding more of her family now that I got her hooked up with ancestry.

I worked on laundry today. I still have a few more loads to do since I was lazy the last few days. I played on my tablet for awhile. Really didn't feel like doing much. I keep hoping Kitty will show up. I haven't quiet given up, and I know I should. I've been praying she will come back. I just need to call it as it is, she's gone.

This afternoon I worked on my cross stitch.

I finished up the 'J' for Joy. I need to go back to the lettering and put a white pearl cotton "x" in some spots. I also need to put the centers in the flowers of the hat on the left. I just realized they were missing. I will work on this some more tonight.

It was quiet and I pretty much stayed around the house. I didn't do much. I wish I could say I got a ton of stuff done, but I didn't. I am excited though! My scroll frames are on their way! I'll get those in a couple weeks, I'm sure. It's left Estonia. Can't wait to see them. I've got plans for them already! One of them will have the Hardanger piece so I can finish that one up or at least get caught up.

One of them will have the HAED piece. And a third will have a new piece - my Maribela (sp) piece. I really do want to start that. I did send a message asking about my order I placed last month for hand dyed fabrics. I can't wait to see what that looks like.

Yesterday I didn't do anything exciting. I was away from the house most of the day with Art at the casino. I did come home with about $20 more then I went with, so can't complain.

Then we had bowling - it was "fun night." It was a tournament mostly.  The first game was 9-pin no tap, the second was 8-pin no tap, and the third was 7-pin no tap. I didn't do good for the first game, so I didn't rank among the gals. Denise who is our parent, bowled good and got 5th place. (6 places paid)

Patrick and I bowled a 300 game on the last one. I bowled a 277 on the second game. Denise bowled a 300 in the second game and had a 260 the first game. Patrick actually got 5th place among the men. It was so funny!! He didn't get to 800 series, nor did any of the men. All he 6 winners on the womens side bowled 800 series. It was funny!

I did get some sad news today.

IG shared the passing of Beverly Evanger. Those of us that are on flosstube all know her. She was the positive person in all our videos. Everyone of us would get a message from her after every post. She would encourage all of us to keep posting videos. I enjoyed chatting with her! She was a delight and if one went to all he flosstube videos they would find there was never a negative message from her. They were all positive and light hearted. RIP - Beverly! You will be missed. And I've only known you a very short time.

Okay, I'm off to being Happy Stitching - Happy Quilting!

A Hard Day Knowing Kitty Is Gone

Today I was up early. Didn't get to spend it with Kitty, since she hasn't be around in a few days. I went over to Cherrill's and helped her out.

Came home and played on my tablet. Realized I needed to get some laundry going, so did that. Put the quilt in that needed washing. Then put dad's QOV quilt in the wash. Put both of them outside to dry. It was a cool day  compared to the last two days. We were in the 70's today.

I vacuumed and put Kitty's stuff away. All her toys and scratching post went out to the garage. I had my little cry and called it good.

Then I pulled out my cross stitch and got some stitching done.

It was a little hard at times doing this. I used to let Kitty climb up under my frame to sleep under it. Now that won't be happening again. That will take a little getting used to as well.

Good news! My new frames (scrolls) are on the way! I can't wait to get them because I have a few things to use them for! It will be nice to have them. Then I'll move the hardanger piece on one and try to get that finished up as well.

The cool breeze is feeling good. I keep looking at the door hoping to see a cat there....that will take some getting used to.

In the meantime, I'm trying to be back to normal and Happy Stitching! Happy Quilting!

Finished Dad's QOV Quilt

Today I was up at 6:30 am. I went looking for Kitty! She's no were to be had. I've lost my beautiful Kitten. I love that Siamese cat! I called the Shelter, hoping someone might have dropped her off, but doubt it. I can hope. Have a feeling she's gone. No clue where. My heart is break for that cat!

I went downstairs to work on dad's QOV quilt. I needed to put the binding on.

Before I could get started on the binding, I needed to clean up my station. I seem to put all my stuff on the counter then walk away. So, I ended up cleaning it us so I could cut the binding strips.

Once I had the binding on, I went outside to work on it. I wanted to enjoy the weather, but that didn't take long! I found it hard to work on this when it was 100 degrees outside. So, I came back in and had the fan going on me while I worked on the binding. I didn't cover myself in the quilt, I worked it out so that the quilt wasn't on me to keep me hot.

I was able to leave my room looking like this for now.  Every time I go down,  put something else away, so it's even cleaner then this.

This is dad's QOV quilt. I need to make arrangements to have it presented to dad. I think he will get it with the others when they are presented. I just need to do a pillow case for it now. I'll work on that tomorrow. The square in the middle bottom has dad's name and the years he served in the military.

It took most of the day to do the binding. Now I'm happy it's done and over. I'll get back to Katt's stocking tomorrow while I work on laundry.

Today was way to hot to do much of anything. Every time I went down the stairs and back up, one would have thought I ran 10 miles! Frustrating! And it's not like I'm not healthy!!

In the meantime, I'm going to hope Kitty shows up in the next day or two....even though I know that may never happen.....Stay Happy Quilting - Happy Stitching!

Spent Most of the Day Away

I was up early and moved to the couch. My side was killing me.

We did the usual at the casino. This time Patrick came home with some money again. It was interesting how one machine worked better than another.

Came home and I stitched on my stocking for Katt.

I was able to get an hour in and then we headed off to the movies.

We saw CARS 3. It was really pretty good. It's about the "same old same old" but it was good.

Then we went out for burgers.

Got home and worked on the cross stitch. I found DMC floss is getting a lot thinner then it used to be. I ended up using 3 strands to do the head. I wish I had thought about that in the beginning.

Kitty is missing. I haven't seen her all day. Yesterday she checked in every hour, but today I haven't seen her. I've called to no affect. I'm getting worried. She didn't stay in the garage last night because it was hotter in the garage then outside.

We reach 90 degrees and more. It's so hot, that I'm sweating!! We have it going to 100 degrees again tomorrow.

Worrying over Kitty, I'm trying to stay Happy Stitching - Happy Quilting!

Another Hot Day!

Today I was up early. Didn't want to but got up. I went over to Cherrill's. She was going out later, so I left in good time. Came home and played on the tablet.

I pulled out my Birdfeeder.

I added the white and orange to the back of the bird. Then I called it good. It will take some time to get it right. This is a start.

Then I watched the video on the next step of HAL. I had to take out the two half stars that I put in. I fixed them. I was a little off on them. Added the four half stars and started the outer border. I'll work on that later.

Oh, between working on those, I was so beat!! I fell asleep on the couch for a good hour. Funny part is that I'm tired yet now too! Go figure.

I wanted to show the books I was given at Seminar. The gal's mother did a lot of hardanger and she was giving her books away.

I can learn a lot from these books! I'm looking forward to using them.

After supper, I cut the tops off the green file cabinet files and used them for my floss box. This is how I can tell what weight my BE floss is. This box is FULL! I might be able to get a few more colors in there, but I can't get any more bars in there. If I have to, I'll use the black box I have for the other flosses that we don't use much. I'm hoping that won't be for awhile.

Tonight after doing my exercises, I'll pull out my cross stitch and get working on Katt's stocking! I need to get that done! I also need to finish my Patriot Angel. Then I can start on my Mirabella piece next! I've got her almost ready. I'll get the floss ready here pretty soon.

We reached 90 degrees today....and I can't handle the heat. Ever since I lived in Turkey, I haven't been able to adjust to the heat. I can't breath at times. Not my favorite weather! Plus the next two days we are supposed to get close to 100 degree - which means I need to say in! I'd rather be cold! I can add clothes or blankets, but when it gets hot there is only so much we can take off!

Okay, time to call it good, get on with my exercises for my back.

Stay happy, healthy and stay Happy Quilting and/or Happy Stitching!

Finally Making "Head Way"

Today I was kicked out of bed around 4 am. I went on the couch because of snoring. I didn't take my allergy medications. I thought I could get away with it. Guess not. I woke up with my leg hurting, so that wasn't a good sign either. My back didn't like that sleeping position.

I got moving. Took out hamburger for supper, got my BE box ready to go, and headed off to get some Thank You cards at the Dollar store. I stopped off and got several cards at the Dollar store. I even picked up some envelopes. I need to get my Thank You cards out. I want to thank my teachers for last week.

After that, picked up some ice tea at McD's and headed to the quilt shop for our applique meeting. Still need to get used to the fact that we pay for our meetings. Anyway, I worked on my BE Birdfeeder. Only because I wasn't in the mood to do applique.

I worked on the head of a Grosbeak bird. I need to add some more orange at the head, but I'm going to work on this. I am getting ready to add the orange/red that goes on the back. This is really pretty so far. I just hope I do it justice.

Mom called while I was at the meeting. She was in a panic over the Forest Galorest quilt. She was putting it together and realized we missed a block. She didn't know how to put it on. I left the meeting at 1 pm and went to moms. I was going to pick up strawberries anyway, so headed over earlier. When I got there, she had most of the top done, except the borders. I was able to get mom calmed down and we were able to figure out what was off. We had to change two blocks because the nest block was in the wrong place. We worked on getting the corner block with the bear put together.

NOTE: Don't buy this pattern!! It's not well written and it's a pain to see what she means. The patterns are her sketches! They were a pain to figure out! If one does buy this pattern, make sure not to pay over $25 for it. I paid $60 for it, and feel like it was taken!!

Came home and got supper in the oven. Patrick was home and cleaning up the yard. He had a meeting to go to at 5:30 pm. Then he had another meeting at 7:30 pm (now). So, I wanted to get him fed before he left.

While he was off to the first meeting, I worked on the owl for the pattern.

First I had to copy the pattern pieces on freezer paper.

Once that was done, I could cut out the patterns and then iron them onto the fabrics.

Got most of them ironed on the fabrics.

Cut them all out and ready to work on. I just need to cut them out more and glue the pieces so I can applique them. I want to get all the owl done so we can put it on the border and then put it on.

My mageyes showed up today. I'm using this for the embroidery. I have my other magnifier for the scrolls. I have the one with lights and I will use that one for my new scrolls.

Okay, I'm getting stuff done. I'm even getting back to walking. Now Cherrill needs to get out and walk, so she's interested in walking in the evenings, so that makes is easier for me as well. We got another mile in today by walking up and down the street.

This was one of those awesome days, where I could get a lot done. Even helping mom and Cherrill, I'm getting stuff done. I'm looking forward to having a day to myself tomorrow (almost - still have to see Cherrill in the morning). Once I get back home, I'm hoping to get more stuff done. Patrick won't be off tomorrow which made my day (a little).

Back to being Happy Quilting AND Happy Stitching!!

Quilting With Mom & Hardanger

This morning I was up early. I knew I was heading over to mom's, so I had to leave pretty early. I helped Cherrill and then came home. I had a few minutes so I went downstairs and pulled out last years classes for Brazilian embroidery. I took all the floss out of the kits and put them in my container with the rest of them. I must have added close to 75 flosses. My box is so full that I might have to put some in another container. Hard to believe I had very few (4) duplicates. I didn't check the colors before we went to Portland, so it was interesting to see I didn't have more colors that matched up.

I stopped off at Starbucks to get some tea, and while I was at it, bought one for mom and dad as well. Dad wasn't there, so his coffee had to be warmed up in the microwave - Sorry that's not the same as fresh! Mom and I had chai tea.

I worked with mom and the Forest Galorest quilt. I cut the blocks to size while mom talked to Jen in OR. She lost her sister in Feb and they have been trying to find mom to let her now. Mom called her and they are talking about going down to see her in the next month. We cut out the triangles for the side of the quilt. We need to get it pieced to add more applique to it. I still haven't been thinking to take a photo of it while we work on it. I will try next time.

About 11 am I headed over to my PT. I worked with Bob on what I could do to help my back. We added a couple more things. Went back to moms but she was leaving for a hair appointment. So, I headed back home.

I stopped off at the grocery store for milk and a few other things for supper. I made "Lemon Chicken" for supper.

While the foo was cooking, I decided to work on the hardanger. I was able to get some of it done before supper. Then I added a few more stitches in a little bit ago.

I need to finish the strip across, then add the next two going the other way. Once that is done, then I need to do the next section. I'm starting to get caught up! This was #4 and I believe she's only on #8. Another one will come out soon. So, I'm trying to get there.

I may work on my birds later tonight. I have some ideas to make it better, so I'm going to try and finish the Birdfeeder so I can move to another one. I can hope!!

Life is good, I'm still here and still Happy Stitching and/or Happy Quilting!

A Day of Getting Caught Up - Flosstube and Hardanger

I slept in a little today and missed my son dropping off a gift for Patrick. I should have gotten up, but didn't feel like it. I was still tired from my Seminar.

I went over to help Cherrill with her socks. Then we walked back and forth on our street till we reached 1 mile. She did pretty good. She's having to get out and walk more. We are trying to get her flexible again.

Came home and got the laundry going. Then I pulled out the computer and my camera. I worked on my Flosstube #9 video.

Once I pulled out all the floss I bought at Seminar and put them in the box.

This is only half of what I needed to organize. I remembered to take the photo after I had worked on them.

I listed them all and worked on getting them in the box. My box grew by about another 50 flosses. I may have to get some more Anne's Keepers one of these days. I have enough for about 40 more flosses, then I will need to buy more. Let's hope I can do with what I have. I know I've got close to 200 different colors.

I took the needles I bought for Cherrill and a couple floss over to Cherrill so I wouldn't forget to get them to her.

Kitty was keeping me busy at the door. She kept coming and going all day.

I was able to get the next stage of the hardanger done before we went bowling. Tonight is the last night of 9-pin no tap.We will have "fun night" next week. I didn't bowl too good. I didn't even get a 600 series, I bowled that bad.

Before we left I had to take a photo of the flowers in the back yard. This is the tiger lilies I bought Patrick a few years back for Father's day.

May we all be Happy Stitching or Happy Quilting!

Brazilian Embroidery Meeting Day

I have noticed I have been getting more checking my blog. So, for those of you that are new to my blog, Welcome! I tend to be boring at times, more often then not. This blog was started for my children, but they didn't bother to see what their mom was up to. So, I kept it as a "Journal" of my crafts. I'm scattered in more ways then one, which you will see when you read my posts. I've been trying hard to make sure I post every day. Doing that helps me make sure I work on some form of craft - quilting, cross stitch, Brazilian embroidery, crochet, etc. I love different forms of hand crafting.

This morning I was up early. Needed to get some laundry going before I went to Cherrill's. There was plenty of dirty laundry I could pick from! So, I was able to get three loads in laundry between our meeting.

We had our meeting set for 10 am. We usually meet at 9:30 am, but Georgie sent out the email for 10 am. I went over to Cherrill's to help her with her socks. Then I brought the cake she baked over, and she came about 15 minutes later. At first I thought there would only be 3 of us, but it finally ended up being 7. We had a good group meeting. We laughed and shared what we did at the Seminar.

I worked on my next bird. I didn't get much done, but I'm getting there. I'll work on it tomorrow. I figured out that one of my birds needs a 3D wing. I really need to get this done.

After everyone left, I went back to working on my hardanger. I want to try and get caught up.

Which means I'm going around the squares I did earlier. This should go quick and I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Life is awesome! I'm falling asleep as I type this, so I'm going to call it a day....chances are my typing is falling off the page as I'm falling asleep. ZZZZZZZ

Made It Home

This morning I was up at 6:18 am. Went down to see Sandy and Jeanette. We then headed over to the dinning hall for breakfast. They weren't packed yet, so went up to our rooms and cleaned up a little. Packed my sleeping bag and headed downstairs. I packed my stuff in the car so we could get them out from the side door. There were so many people watching Sandy pack her car! They wanted to see how we could get everything in and still be able to take 2 bikes. The bike rack helped a great amount. Even I was amazed at how much we had and how well she packed that car.

After getting home, we headed over to dad's. We had an awesome fathers day! I love my father dearly.

We came home and i worked in my hardanger to get some stitching time in.

Kitty was happy to see me. She has been getting Patrick's attention too. Looks like they are getting along so well!

I'm tired, so heading to bed. Happy Stiching!!

Homeward Bound Tomorrow - Day 6 BDEIG Seminar

I was able to get a little more sleep then I had all week. I didn't get up till around 7:15 am. We didn't have class in the morning, so it worked out great.

Went down to see Sandy and Jeanette. I helped Jeanette with getting her floss organized. We got quite a bit done actually. It was nice to see her get organized. She is one of those people that if she's not organized, she wants quiet till she gets there. Sandy and I left her to her stuff while we went to the lounge. We wanted to get some stitching done.

I had the leaves on the left side done. I also had the two rose leaves done as well. That empty rose leave in the middle (between the two done and down - empty spot), I tried 3 times to get the right floss to go in there! I couldn't figure out what I used!! That was all of two hours work! Frog was having fun today. I did ad the darker stem and the darker leave (top leaf) and will finish up the leaves and stem tomorrow or Monday.

We then headed off to lunch and our second part to this class.......

Our teacher started us off on each of the flowers and then moved on to the next one. We didn't get to finish them but we were able to get the idea of it. I liked the class, but I found it a little dry today. We were reading off the book on what to do with some of the flowers. I called it quits about an hour into the class. I was doing the exact same thing I was doing this morning! Frog work!!

We had our big banquet today and it was awesome. Then afterwards came back, enjoyed more time with Sandy and Jeanette. Then came up and filled out our papers for what we liked and didn't. I then chatted with both Pat's. Pat K and I went to the lounge and I stayed to chat with out Pres. elect. She's an awesome lady and will have BDEIG going in great places. It's a great group of women who care very passionately about Brazilian embroidery! Happy Stitching!!

Day 6 Of BE Seminar - Winding Down

Today I was up early and having breakfast with Jeanette and Sandy. They didn't have classes today, so I ended up leaving them for my classes. They had the morning by their selves and I was in Debbie Kelley's class.

I was an add in on Debbie's class, so I waited to let those who had paid before to go first in picking out their color and threads. Debbie had some different fabrics that I lived. She had a teal, white, cream, black, and purple to choose from for the background. This was not the piece we worked on, it was part of the pattern. We had a "doodle cloth" that we worked on. Her pattern was also printed on that. So, we worked on that instead of the background fabrics that were picked out. Since the colors were taken that I preferred I asked if I could get them from her shop later. So, we agreed I would do that.

The fun began!

This is what I was working on. I had this "stuffed" by the time we were done. There is a lot of work that goes into this, but it's a ton of fun!! I love this!

We jumped ahead and this is where she was teaching another technique. Debbie Kelley is an awesome teacher and if anyone has a chance to take her class, I highly recommend her. She knows Brazilian embroidery so well! I am planning on taking more classes by her. She is very talented and a fun person to be around. Plus she is a belly dancer!

After lunch I went into the lounge and worked on my fairy.

This has no pattern and was done off the "seat of my pants." I'm not crazy about it, but at least it's done and can be voted on.

I went and got the floss I won with my numbers. (Just checked the new numbers and I won prize #2!! Funny part is that Pat Campbell won prize #1! Can't get it till tomorrow.

Went to supper and it was interesting how the food was a little less again. Dessert was gone in no time flat. They had strawberry shortcake. The shortcake was plenty but the cream and strawberries where not. Of course we have women that love to eat, so part of that is they don't like to leave much for others, even when they know it's low.

We enjoyed the even. Best part is that we sold all of Felicia's beads and now we can get the money back to her husband. I think he will be thrilled with what we did. We could have gotten more money but some people think they can get stuff free.

We are starting to wind down. Tomorrow is the last day. We have a class in the afternoon and then the Banquet. A lot have already left, so it's interesting how the Banquet will go over.

We all are having fun and Happy Stitching.

Day 4 of BE Seminar

This morning I was up before a couple of my roomies, which really surprised me. They are usually up way before me and I'm up at 6:20 am.

I went down and had breakfast with Sandy and Jeanette. We had a good time. Funny how we seem to end up waiting on one of us to get moving - me included. They are a lot of fun to be around. We then went to class. We had a class with Mendy (can't remember her last name, will check on that).

This is my "doodle cloth" from the class. We were taking the class to do the "Sunshine Valentine" pattern. There is a book out on this. It's really pretty.

We first worked on the stems and leaves. Then we worked on doing a drizzle button hole stitch (think that's the name). I normally call it the "dreaded button hole stitch." Anyway mine didn't come out so good.

Looks like a BIG mess! I'm going to take it out later and redo it. I'm also going to practice on this before I put in on the design.

I decided to make different leaves on this piece. So, I've got to make one more of the spiked leaves and then I'm going find the other kinds of leaves and put them around this piece. Wonder if I can find enough different leaves that I don't have to repeat one of the patterns. Will be interesting to see.

Then we went to lunch. There were 3 hot dogs left when I go to the table. It was funny. We were late getting to lunch and everyone was seated and eating. Sandy and Jeanette got their meals, with a burger. When I went up there Debbie Kelley was waiting (with bun ready) for a burger. There wasn't any in the tray. BUT there were 3 or 4 hot dogs and 2 of us took a dog. I went down to eat my hot dog and ate half while Debbie was still waiting. I had to go up and ask if she planned to wait all day (laughing). She said that had happened one other time. They told her it would be 3 mins. It was more like 10. Then they brought up a big pan full of more burgers and dogs. By that time we were all done and heading back to classes (except us). I took a patty and ate it before we headed out to Acorns & Threads.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that shop!! Acorns and Threads had all the patterns I have been wanting to get. So, I bought 3 patterns and a couple other things. I forgot my bead list, so I'm going to send her an email to send me the beads. I fell in love with the place. Trouble is, it's in a high traffic area. It's hard to get back the way we came. So, with GPS directions, we left the shop at 4 pm. Supper was at 5 pm. Now, this is only 11 miles from the college! I couldn't believe it! We had to go up the street and turn around. Then we followed the directions. Then it asked if we wanted to cut 3 mins off our time, said us. We then had to turn onto another busy road to get over on the LEFT side to get to the freeway. We pulled over there, and a taxi was so nice, he let us in. We turned on to the (I think W 216 freeway). Once we were on there, we had to merge again. Then it told us to stay LEFT and go on I-5 N. Well, we stayed left, but it took us off the freeway. So, it re-figured it again. We had to make a U turn and get back to the freeway. That actually saved us time in line on I-5. We then got across the water and came to the campus the back way. Not a good neighborhood, but we finally made it back with 5 mins to spare. It took us 50 mins to go 11 miles!! I couldn't believe it.

After supper I went down to Sandy's room and worked on my fairy. It has to be done tomorrow afternoon. Not sure I'll make it!!

I need to add the eyes, mouth, fix the hair, put a flower in her hand and put the wing on. I'm not reall impressed with her, but this is a quick job!

Now it's late again, and it's time to call it a night! So, May we all be Happy Stitching - Happy Quilting!

Day 3 of BDEIG Seminar

This morning I was up around 6:15 am. Everyone else was already up. I seem to be the last one up. But then again, I don't have things to do. We stopped and picked up Sandy and her sister. We all went to breakfast.

From breakfast, we headed to classes. I had the "Oriental Poppies" class with Jinx Spears. An awesome teacher!! Would take another class from her if I get a chance. We worked on a "doodle cloth" to learn how to do satin stitches with rayon threads (BE threads), and we worked on a couple other stitches as well.

Before lunch we worked on doing a stuffed stem stitch. We also worked on stuffed petal of the flower. I used scrap threads because the colors that go with the piece we will work on, I didn't want to waste.

We then took a break and went to lunch.

My roomies with the help of others, put on a "skit" for the "Stitching Pox." This theme seems to be carrying out throughout the week. They had a security officer come and inform us of a break out, yesterday. Then today, Donna come in with the 'Pox.'

I even got it for being associated with them so I had a sticker stuck to my cheek. That's Donna in the chair and Pat in the back.

We then went back to our classes and we worked on the "flower" on the top of the photo. That was a designed flower that had the spider "kinda" stitch. It's more like a basket stitch. I worked on it, till it was time to add the detached button hole stitch. That's why the spokes are view-able. I was asked to help again upstairs and turned them down. I wanted to have some time to work on my fairy as she has to be done by Sat. morning. But they vote on them, so I need to get it out there!

This is one of the fairies that they posted on the door. The others are on there as well, will post that tomorrow.

This is as far as I've gotten on my fairy. She's coming along but I'm not sure ho to do the face. Looking and the photo, I think I'm going to have to change the thread for her face. UGH.
Need to do the arm as well. Not sure if I'll put both on her or not.

Tonight I'm going to be in bed by 11 pm - have decided that is my bed time tonight. So, I'm going to continue the week out with being Happy Stitching - Happy Quilting!
