Today we walked 2.5 miles. It was a nice day today. The sun was out and I got warm while walking. Had to wrap my coat around me. We stopped and chatted with a couple neighbors as we walked. Then we walked again at 1 pm. So we both got our 10,000 step in for today. I had 11,878 yesterday and I'm already breaking that one.
I watched a couple shows that I had recorded. I was able to get one of them done today! lol
I'm happy to say, I was working on my block. This is the third block that is done. As I'm typing this, I just noticed one spot I didn't do. I need to embroidery one more area.
I'm thrilled to have this done. I have been getting ready with three other blocks. I have them marked and ready to go.
Still on the way to being Happy Quilting!
This is a blog that shows my quilting, Brazilian embroidery, cross stitch, beading and more. It's a daily blog that shows how busy I can be with too many projects and how lazy I can get at times. Even boring at times. It was originally for my children who where miles away. Now, it's just a blog.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
Today I was up and ready to go. At 7:00 am I was off walking with Ruth. We walked a good 2.75 miles today. I even had my 10,000 step in before noon today. All thanks to Patrick. When he got up he asked if I would help him clean up the branches he cut down yesterday. We went out and cleared the yard. It took about an hour.
After all that, I took the plant that was my great grandmothers and re-potted it. I put it in the spot where it will get better lighting. I just hope it makes it. We had it growing when we had it. I took it to moms last year and t started dying again. Hopefully I rescued it. Time will tell.
I got some bread going in the machine to take over to my folks. We went over to my folks to enjoy the day with my family. Mom and dad had ribs. My brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew where there as well. We played games and had a good meal.
Last night I worked on the embroidery for the Baltimore Liberty block.
I didn't get much done, but I did get the two flowers done. This is on both sides. I would have done more but didn't know if I had the floss to do the firecrackers. I did find a color that will work out okay, and I'm going to do it. Then I can get this one on the "finished" list. I also worked on the freezer paper for the eagle. I'm still thinking about how I'm going to do the eagle. It has a lot of feather work on it.
Today was a day away from home again. This week is pretty much at home now. I can't wait to see how much stuff I will get done this week! lol
I have family to thank for fighting for our country. At least 2 of my family lost their lives fighting for us. Jackson Wineland lost his life in the Civil War. Thank you, Jackson, for your service. I'm sorry you had to loss your life before you had the chance to enjoy life.
Loving the work I've been doing lately. Happy Quilting!

The Sun Came Out Today
Today the sun came out. It was good to see it come out after a week of clouds.
I baked a Apple Rum Cake today. It's an apple cake with Rum sauce. It turned out awesome! I'm really liking it. It was fun to make. That was my morning fun.
We have been watching "Harry Potter" movies all day. It's still going on. I can watch them over and over again. One of the few movies I can watch more often.
I went downstairs and found the table runner that grandma started and I put a few stitches in on. I have part of this corner done. I decided I will pull it out and work on it between my BE projects. I'd like to finish it. I did find the rusted out needle in there. And YES, it left rust marks, but I think I can get them out.
I have been putting in some time with the third block of Baltimore Liberty. I cut the circles out for the centers of the flowers. Once that is done, I'll work on the embroidery and get it finished up. Then I will have three blocks done.
I pulled out the other block patterns as well. I also cut 7 more background pieces. I came up one short. I just hope I have enough white background to finish it. If not, I will get another white that is close to it for the border. I found the eagle block and the heart block that I think I can get done pretty quickly. The eagle I will do in pieces. I need to figure out how I'm going to mark it so I can do them. Not sure if I want to do the back basting on it, or if I want to put the pieces together before I applique it on the block. That eagle has a lot of little pieces, so I'll work on the wings first. I have fabric that has the strips for the flags, so I won't have to stitch each strip. That will make it go that much faster as well.
Mom and dad called today and asked us over for tomorrow. We'll be spending part of the day with them. It should be fun. Not much else to do.
I worked on my family history today as well. I was able to add more information on the family. I still have more documents to go through. I need to find books that go back to the 1700's. I haven't been able to most of the family back any farther. I'm just entering information that each family member has given me. Plus a lot of the stuff my grandmother's had that needs to be put down on paper. Not sure where some of the information is but it's there. I'll fix it as I go. I'm working on it.
I've been drawing at night before bed. It seems to relax me more than I thought it would. I need to see what I'm drawing though, so will probably get a few post cards out there.
We're all doing great, and I'm still having fun with my projects! Life is good! Happy Quilting!

A Day Away
Today I started the day off with working on MTurk. Had a message last night to follow up on my survey. I did, then did two more. By that time Patrick was up and ready to go.
We went to the casino and since I wasn't really in the mood, we didn't say long at all. We stopped to see my niece and nephew who were at my parents. We offered to take them to the movies. They had other plans, so we headed to the movies.
We saw "Alice, Through the Looking Glass." It was really good. I did like that. It made sense and I was happy to see it. I wasn't too crazy about Johnny Depp in this movie. He did good but it was just a little spooky at times. His face coloring changed and maybe that was what I didn't like. Not real sure what it was that I didn't like.
We stopped and picked up some apples. I'm going to make an Apple Rum Cake tomorrow. Thought about doing it today but wasn't in the mood by the time we got home.
I haven't done anything crafty today. I did get a call from Edith and she said she wasn't comfortable doing applique on my block. I told her that was okay. I just wish I had saved the easy blocks for her to pick before I gave them to the others to pick. The ones that can do harder applique ALWAYS get the easy stuff and leave the hard stuff for those that are uncomfortable doing applique. I wish they would take that into consideration when they pick the blocks. Maybe - if that ever happens again - I'll assign the blocks so there isn't any question.
We'll probably sit and watch another movie on TV. I've got my exercise to do now. So, hopefully tonight will be a night of Happy Quilting!

Good Day of Applique With Good Friends
Today was one of those days that Ruth was gone. So, I slept in about 20 minutes longer than I would have. Got up, relaxed. While relaxing in the chair, I received a call from mom. She said my sister-in-law and her sister will be there for breakfast and would I like to come over for breakfast. I said I'd be other, but not for breakfast.
Arrived at moms around 8:30 am but they had not arrived. I chatted with them both. I showed mom my block for Council. Both of them liked it. (Then I forgot it there.) She ironed it for me.
My sister-in-law and her sister showed up. We had a good breakfast and about the time we were half way through, the quilters started coming in. I went to be with the quilters as Chris and her sister left. I didn't get to say goodbye but I'll be seeing them again soon.
We had a good turn out. We were looking for chairs to sit in.
I worked on block #28 and finished it. It's not quiet like what the block is supposed to look like, but it's close. Plus, who's going to take the pattern and compare it to mine?! At least I have one more done.
I then took out my Baltimore Liberty quilt to work on the flowers.
I took out the star in the bottom right, replaced it, and added the star above it. I thought about the flowers and decided I would just let them look more like stars. I will do the center pieces after I get them all on. I need to put five more stars on to finish them up. I have the embroidery to do next and then this block will be done. Hildi was saying she got her blocks all set to work on. That way she can just grab a "bag" or project block and work on it. It's all set and ready to go. I was thinking that is what I really need to do. I find myself wanting to work on a block but then I don't have it ready to go. If I had them ready to go, then I could just pick out the block and go. She was saying it too a while and it was a good rainy day project. So, I'm thinking I'm going to start doing that. Get the fabric and blocks all ready to go. That way when I'm looking for something to work on, I have them ready to go.
I just need to remember - NO NEW PROJECTS TILL TWO ARE DONE!
While I was at moms, got a text saying my Amazon purchase was delivered. It's the roll bars for cross stitch!
Got home and the box was waiting for me! I opened it and was thrilled!! It was the cheaper one of the two BUT as I'm looking at it, I realized it's even better! I has the "snap bars" that snap the fabric on to the roller. I love it! The one I have now needs to be stitched or Velcro stripped. This saves me from having to do that! Almost "woo-hoo'ed" out loud. This looks to be a better one then what I have! I have the EZ bars and love them as well, but betting this is a lot better.
I'm getting more done. Now I can actually say I'm finishing a few things. I have the BB block done, (more to come), finished the block for Council, Id show, and now I'm about to finish one more block of the Baltimore Liberty block. Not bad for this week, if I say so myself. Happy Quilting!

A Day of Applique with Haven't Missed A Stitch
Today I started out walking 2.7 miles. Yep, I added another .2 miles - yah, I know, big deal! lol Just had to make it look better than my same old, same old.
Got home and got my stuff together to go to our group meeting. I really wasn't in the mood. I did stop off at mom and dads to say hi. I also wanted to see how they enjoyed their trip. My brother and nephew are on their way today. Funeral will be next Thursday. Guess my niece is coming in on Saturday at the airport. Still haven't heard from my sister-in-law, so betting she's swamped with the funeral arrangements. Had a good visit with mom. She picked the block she was going to do for my friendship blocks. She even picked out the colors while I was there. She didn't quiet get to the "neon" colors but was close.
I went to the meeting around 11 am and didn't really get much done. I did have a good chat with Kathy though. Love chatting with her.
Came home and pulled out the light box. I needed to put my design on the block for Council and do the flowers that I didn't like on the Baltimore Liberty star block.
I cut out the stars and have them almost ready for the flowers. I may just exchange the ones I don't like for the new ones.
I worked on the Bountiful Basket block doing the embroidery. I'm putting the french knots on for the flowers. I thought I took a photo, but that will have to be tomorrow.
Last night I was able to get a lot of cross stitch in. I worked on the second bird. I've got quiet a bid done last night and happy with how it's coming out. Working on the cage.
Tonight I'm going to try and finish the Council block and then get back o the BB block and finish that one up. I want to try and get more of those done if I can.
Everyone was asking about our Seminar for BE. I told them I won't be going till the 3rd week in June. They were wondering what I have done. I'll try and finish my next BE work and show that one to them at the next meeting. Now that I know I can do it with my right hand, it should go pretty quick.
Life is moving along. Not too thrilled at the way the world is going. Hoping and praying things will get better...in the meantime, I'll be Happy Quilting!

Making Changes To My Block
Yea, I know, getting to be a broken record - "Started the day early today. We walked 2.5 miles."
This is one of the areas where we walk - it was odd to see all those daisy in a row! Thought that was funny.
Came home and did laundry. As I was sitting here trying to decide what I would do today, I realized I hadn't done any kind of cleaning in the house for a good week. Not that it was really bad, it was just showing some dirt. So, I mopped the floor, vacuumed the flower, and picked up SOME of my mess. I tend to have stuff all over! But HEY, my house looks "lived in" and not dirty. Never was one to have the coffee table look "perfect" or "decorated" that I couldn't put my stuff done on it.
After all that was done, I got to work on the Council block that I'm entering. I have it pretty close to being done. The good news is that I have till the 15th to get it in. Which means I may have time to do another block to send in. I won't show a photo of it till I send it off.
Patrick brought these in from outside. The peonies are really pretty. Patrick brought them in because they were falling over.
Love the flowers. They really look great on the table.
Last night after we got home from bowling, I worked on this block. I'm doing the embroidery on this. I need to do the french knots next. It has more to do. It will be nice to have one more block done. I think I counted 16 of them done. I need to check my page to see if I have them all on there. I also had to update my notebook.
I did get some sad news today. Guess it hit me harder than I thought it would. My younger brothers mother-in-law passed away last night at midnight. Evelyn Gueist (sp) was very friendly and joined into our family from the beginning. Anytime we had family get-together's, she was there. She was given two years over 4 years ago, so she lived longer than they expected. My she rest in peace. At least my sister-in-law was here when she passed.
I've got another list of things to do...wish list that is....."this" is next, "this" needs finished, "this" needs to be worked on....we all know that list. I'm slowly getting there. I tend to do things to break up what I'm getting tired of doing. Maybe I should just try for the "quick" stuff, but then I wouldn't have fun in the process.....Happy Quilting!

Busy Day Out...And Bowling
Today was an early day. Headed over to Art's to take him to the Casino. It wasn't one of my better days. He did come home with some money, I ended up giving the Casino my money....oh, well. At least I do this for him to have a day out. He can't drive on the freeway or highways. He can drive around the back roads. His daughter works, so he figures I'm the one that can take care of him. I don't mind since it's only once a month.
Got back around 3 pm and watered mom and dad's garden as well as the flowers in the yard. The gal that was supposed to do the yard watering didn't do it. So, mom and dad have lost a few if not half their plants. I didn't realize till last week that she wasn't watering. That was too late to do anything about it.
After I took care of their yard, I went to Walmart and got some fried chicken. I didn't realize it was "spicy." Figured it out when I took a bite! It was still good, just a bit hot for my liking. I will remember that the next time I get their chicken! It's called...Pay Attention!
Tonight is bowling night. So, I didn't get any crafts done today. I did work on the Council, ID block last night. I'm going to add another tree, then I'm going to finish up the other pieces. I don't know if I will be able to get another block done before the weekend, but I will try.
I am getting ready for Seminar...getting my money set for the classes, getting the threads ready for each class. I did send an order to one of the gals who has a shop and will be selling stuff at Seminar. So, that is taken care of. She's also getting me some needles. I'm going to try not to buy anything else.
Looking forward to getting back (tomorrow) to Happy Quilting!

Embroidery Meeting Day
This morning I was up and ready to go. Ruth and I got a good 2 mile walk in. She had a meeting at 9 am today and I needed to get ready for our Brazilian embroidery group.
I was practicing on the "Cast-on Mum." I got some help from one of the other gals and she told me to try and do it with my right hand. I thought I might be able to do that. I was doing them with my left hand and it was twisting. When I did it with my right hand, I was really surprised at how much better they were coming out. They laid better. I could tell which ones were which. I guess I'm going to have to learn to do BE with both hands. That will be fun!
Pat Campbell, who is our group leader, brought in the patterns we ordered a couple month ago. She's teaching this class at the Seminar. I didn't sign up for that class because I wanted to do the bird pattern I signed up for.
This is the other pattern I ordered too. These are both patterns from a gal in Australia that has AWESOME patterns. She's very talented. I love her patterns. This one is a "Japanese" style and it will fit great in the dinner room that has a lot of Japanese dolls as well as an "oriental" feel. I have plenty of Japanese stuff in my house. Most are things I got when we lived there.
We got a list of stuff that we can take with us to Seminar. We all talked about what to expect at Seminar. I'm starting to get excited. I need to get my money ready and set up to give to my instructors.
Last night I finished this basket. It's a little crooked but the flower covers it so it won't be noticed.
I pulled out block #28 to do the embroidery. I started it just after supper. I will try and have it done by tomorrow. I need to finish the block for Council, ID as well. That I'll work on tonight too.
Which means this will be untouched tonight. I'm really happy ith the way it's coming.
I put all those stitches in that I took out. I have a few more stitches in between the flowers and the bird. Once I get that in there, I can move my bars so I can get working on the cage. Right now I'm a little close to the top bar. I am running out of room to move up.
I've got enough to do today.....let's see if it actually gets done....I tend to get off track of what I'm doing!....nah, not me?!
Tomorrow is a day with Art. Casino is where we will be in the morning.....and home after to be back to being Happy Quilting!

Took Out As Much As I Put In....
Today was an early day. I relaxed and enjoyed the morning.
I worked on my family history most of the day today. Got a lot more names, and even got off on the wrong family...till I realized what I was doing. Ended up cleaning up my mess. I'm so happy to have my daughter-in-law that can help me. I get to the point that I get confused and then I need her to help me out. I was off track and she got me back on track.
Last night I worked on my cross stitch.
As I was working on the cage, I found I was putting the stitches in the wrong place! I ended up taking out as much if not more, of what I put in. I wasn't thrilled to see my mistake. I was watching a good movie last night with Cary Grant and Ginger Rodgers. It was one heck of a good movie! So, while I was in the movie, I didn't realized I was too far down when I put the stitches in. I took them all out and then put about half of them back in.
Tonight I'm going to work on one of the baskets, to get the handle done, then I'll go back to doing the cross stitch. Tomorrow is Brazilian embroidery and I'll work on my piece. I'm doing a sample of a "cast on mum" and hope to get it mastered to finish up my piece.
Between family history and my crafts, I'm still moving along. I'm getting better at keeping up with being Happy Quilting!

Another Saturday of Running Around
Today started out earlier than usual. Text Ruth to see if she walked yet, and she had. So, waited on Patrick to get up. We were on the go after he was up.
We did the usual Saturday morning visit. Then we went to the movie "Angry Birds." It was pretty good and it's also open for another movie to follow. I did enjoy the movie though.
Last night I worked on my cross stitch.
It's coming along pretty good. I have more to do in this area. It's looking pretty good and I can't wait to work on the outline stitches.
This is where the bird and bird cages is. There are about 5 birds in this if not more. I ordered another set of stretch bars. I need one for Seminar. I also want to finish my mother-in-laws piece that she was outlining. It's almost done. That's the least I could do for her. Patrick will have a piece of cross stitch that she worked on. I had offered to give it to his dad, but he said he's dad won't want it.
Monday is our Brazilian embroidery meeting. We'll be talking about what we will be doing for our trip to Seminar in a few weeks. It's coming along fast! Before I know it, it will be here. I need to order my "Anne's Keeper" organizer holders.
I go my "THE STITCHERY" catalog in today. I can "dream" of some more stitching I can work on. Have enough right now to do, so will just admire the pieces in the catalog.
My sister-in-law is back in town. She received word that her mother is failing fast. So, she was on the first plane out. We pulled her car out of my folks garage so she has a car to drive. Waiting word on how she's doing. Her mom was given a year over two years ago, so she's been going pretty strong. She just wasn't ready to go, and I believe she will fight this as well.
I'm getting stuff done. I could get more done if I just didn't play so much on the computer! Hey, I'm having fun! I'll be back to Happy Quilting!

Getting Back On Track...
Today I started out getting a little more sleep then usual. I worked on MTurk today. Then I played a few games.
I didn't really feel like doing much today but trying to keep on track. So, I did do some sketching on my book that Phil and Emily game me. I started a picture, but will work on it as I feel like it. I also was thinking about what I would put on dad's quilt. I found a logo of his military unit and will see if I can copy that to a block.
I noticed that the pole is a little short from where I needed it. I will work my best at getting the body to cover it. If I need to make a little fatter body, I may just do that. I have the other part of the pole to do next. Then I can get the flower and body on the block.
Last night I worked on the body of the bird. I'm really liking the way is is coming along. I do like working on the bird. I have two birds that are in that area.
I've filled in a few more areas. I have more to do on the left side where the hanging basket is. I also have more where the flowers are as well. I'm getting up there. There is more in the middle between the flower and the bird house. I will work on that as well.
I did not work on the contest block today. I was so tired of what I was doing yesterday that I decided to just wait till this weekend and try and finish it. I have to mail it by the 1st of the month.
I went for a mile walk this afternoon. I needed to get back out there walking. Now that Ruth is back, I'll be walking in the mornings again. I seriously need to get moving. I gained weight and need to get back down. I've got a good 10 lbs to loose.
Other than that, today was one of my lazier days. I really need to get moving! I'm going to work on the cross stitch again tonight I think. I can work on dad's block but think I'm more in the mood for the cross stitch right now.
May we all be Happy Quilting!

Another Rainy Day....With Applique
Today started out early - no surprise there! I got my breakfast and headed out to my neighbors to drop of her mail. I watered her plants and then ran into my other neighbor. We must of talked for a good hour. Then I had to head off to my folks house to water plants there too. I can't wait till they both get back! One is this Saturday and the other won't be back for another week. I realized as I was watering my folks plants that the gal that was supposed to water in the back yard, wasn't doing it. So, um, there are a few plants dying.....guess I should have payed more attention...oops.
It was raining over there, so decided to let the rain water their plants. I did have to call them because mom's appointment next week needed to be changed. Plus I had to check on mom's client with her.
I came home and had the left over sandwich from last night. It was really good.
This afternoon I was watching NCIS New Orleans and appliqueing on the quilt block for the contest. I was texting my son on how it looks. Before I knew it, I was taking it out and redoing it. I must of taken out all that I put in! I'll work on it again tonight or I just might wait till tomorrow. Not really looking forward to finishing it up right now. Got tired of taking it out. I may show those photos next week so one can get the idea of what I was going through.
I'm thinking of doing my cross stitch or just sit and draw. Who knows!
I didn't do as much with MTurk today. I wanted to but never got on the computer till now. It's an odd day when I don't get on the computer! Shows how much I wanted to work on that block....ugh.
Not sure what to label today....don't have a label for the quilt blocks, but then I don't have a photo either. Oh, well.....Happy Quilting!

Having A Wonderful Birthday!!
Today started out getting Patrick to take me to Starbucks before he left for work. We went over to Starbucks which is about 4 miles away. I had a free drink or food coupon. We went over and got a doughnut and drink. I had him drop me off on Jackson Hwy, so I could walk the rest of the way home. That was a good 1.5 miles. I had a good walk.
Came home and decided to get moving on my desserts. I made a jello dessert as well as cupcakes.
I made some cool whip frosting to go with it. The cupcakes tasted great.
I also worked on my family history. I also copied another letter, which I need to post. I added a few photos to the tree as well. I found a gal that had information on my family tree, but wanted to know where she got the information on who "his father" was. I'm getting closer to knowing a little more about my family.
I then worked on MTurk again today. Wanted to get some more money in there. Patrick got home and and we went out to eat. I like going to McMenamins for dinner. They do have good food. It's a little on the expensive side but it's good food.
Just before Patrick got home my gift arrived from my daughter! I love them!! She knows me well! I love it when she send me Disney stuff! I'm still a kid at heart. She was busy at work today, but we did get in a little chat today.
I worked on the eagle last night. I have part of the pole down. I'm finding I should have started with the pole in the first place. Oh, well. I have a few more ideas for dad's quilt. I need to figure out if I told Bev I'm doing 10" or 8" blocks. Once I do that, then I can start working on the other blocks that will go with the quilt.
I was just enjoying my day today. I got a lot of texts from family and friends wishing me a Happy Birthday. It goes in line with Happy Quilting!

Applique Day
Today started out early. Not unusual for me. Patrick left the fan on in the bathroom, so that made sure I wasn't going back to sleep.....that and the sun.
I worked on MTurk again. I've been getting about 2 hours a day in. I make about $4 a day. I'm okay with that.
I went downstairs to put my Bountiful Basket baskets away. While I was there, I brought down my eagle. I worked on the arrows, body, and the pole.
I pulled out the pattern and worked on what needed to go where.
I was able to attached the arrows to the pole. Next step is to attach the pole to the background.
I've got the body of the eagle put together. This will be last on, but now I can applique the pieces on the background. It will come along pretty fast. I did put the post on the pole and then appliqued the post on the background before the pole. I figured out that I need to do the pole first, then do the nob on the pole (post).
I didn't realize till just now that I'm in all three of Esther's Facebook groups! I was checking out the groups, and I noticed some of the work others where doing on "Oma's Blues" page.
I collected the pattern as it was coming out. I read her instructions and she said to color it the color I want to do it in. I thought that was a very good idea, so I put the pattern together.
Then I stuck in on the fridge downstairs to look at. I will decided what color I want and where I want it. I've been coloring in the color book, so I'm having fun! I do want to do it in blue and white, but then again, I may do something else. I'll work on it.
Esther Aliu also have a couple more FB links. She also has the group for her "Lily Rose." It's fun to see what everyone comes up with.
It's 9-pin no tap bowling tonight. Hopefully I can do another 300 game! It would be nice since this is a league. lol
Mom and dad called again today. Guess they are having a good time. It was raining there, but here it's been a nice day! Couldn't ask for better actually.
I'm off and running on my eagle. That makes me Happy Quilting!

Got Some Quilting In
Today was a good day...just a very quiet day and a little lonely. Not that that bothers me.
I worked on MTurk again today. I also got in some gaming with a friend on-line. We had a good visit, since I don't see her on much anymore.
I pulled out Phil's quilt. I decided I needed to get some quilting in. I watched a couple shows on TV to get caught up on what I've been missing.
I finished this block. I enjoyed working on it. I was working on laundry at the same time. It has been quiet and I've really enjoyed it.
Last night I did bowl a 300 game - but it was in 9 pin-no-tap! It's the first one I've done. Patrick bowled a 286, he messed up the last shot. I was hoping the both of us could get it at the same time.
I'm planning on working on my cross stitch or basket tonight. I think I'm going to do the cross stitch but who knows, I tend to change my mind! lol
Wish I had more to say, but really don't. Guess those quiet days bring little to talk about. Back to being boring, I guess. (smiling)
May we all be Happy Quilting!

A Quiet Day of Applique!
This morning I worked on MTurk and played games. Then I figured I should do laundry...so I put a load in the wash. Guess I wasn't thinking about laundry because I realized about an hour ago that I needed to get my laundry! Oh, well.
I went and watered our neighbors plants and realized I needed to do that for my plants as well. So, came home and watered the plants. Then sat down and decided it was applique time. I pulled out my block for the challenge and worked on it. It's about 1/2 finished at this point. I will take a photo of it before I send it off. I also sketched out the next block on my new sketch pad I got for my Birthday gift from Phil and Emily. I'm going to try and get back to doing some art work again. I also went through my floss I got from Pat C at Brazilian embroidery and put it with the classes I'm taking at Seminar.
After working on the block, I pulled this out of the bag and worked on it. I got the outside of the basket done. I need to get the handle area done and then I can do the flower that goes with it. I want to work on the embroidery one next.
Last night after I finished writing in my blog, I worked on the cross stitch. I've been filling in areas, but I'm happy with how much is getting done. I will be able to work on the bird soon.
The bird is in the middle. It's not far from the flowers on the right side. I like how it's coming along. I'm looking forward to getting started on the bird house. I'm betting the back stitch is really going to bring this out! I have been wanting to work on it, but I always let that be the last part. That way I find what I need to fill in, and don't get side tracked.
Tonight is bowling night. This is our last night for Sunday till Sept. So, it's FUN NIGHT which means we will be doing 9-pin no tap and (---- can't remember the name), where we get colored pins and get paid for getting a strike if the pins are in the right spot. We also have a pot luck, but tonight I'm taking a salad and will get some chicken to go with it. I'm not going to go through the line for food. I've been gaining way too much weight lately and eating pot luck food is t worst thing for me!
I lost my beautiful necklace that Patrick got me for Christmas a couple years ago. I'm heart broken. I can't find it and believe it might have fallen off my neck. I'm going to keep looking and pray I find it!
I'm still keeping busy with my crafts! I keep jumping around with my crafts! One of these days I may finally get something done! Have fun being Happy Quilting!

A Day Off
Today started out early. We took off and played at the Casino. We then went shopping for some stuff for supper.
Came home and Patrick washed the cars while I balanced our check book. Phil arrived and cooked supper with me. We had a Birthday meal with Phil and played games. Had a great time.
Got some cross stitch done yesterday, will post it tomorrow. Happy Quilting!

Eagle Wings Done!
Today started out early. I was up and ready to go. Today was the day I needed to be at moms to let the ladies in for applique day! I was going to get some bread ready before I left, but forgot. So I took what I needed (or thought I did) and headed to mom's. When I got there I ran the Irobot. It cleaned the floor while I cleaned the fridge. I then started to do the bread and realized (after looking all over for the bread machine), that I didn't have yeast. Called one of the gals and she was going to bring it. She was one of the last ones to show up, so the bread was rushed and didn't come out as good as I would have liked. The good news is that one of the gals took what was left. I didn't like the way it came out but everyone else seemed to.
The fan was going, so I couldn't get a better photo without it moving on me. Anyway, the wings are now on, and it's ready for more stuff added. I will put the flag on, and I need to work on the arrows next too. I found out that appliqueing from both sides works great. I'm so glad I can applique either way! I have really learned a lot by appliqueing with the work on top AND on bottom. I always thought there was only one way to do it, but learned from my mother that the "old fashioned" way of applique (which she does) is having the piece on top. I work with the piece on the bottom (or towards me).
I told Patrick I wanted to go out, so he took me to KFC. I got the chicken wings while he got the $5 deal. We were out of there for $9. Not bad for both of us. The chicken was good too.
I emailed my list of threads I need for the classes I'm taking at Seminar in June. I need to get the class stuff organized soon because the time will come fast!
In the mean time, life is good and I'm Happy Quilting!

Enjoyable Day At Applique
Today I was up and ready to go. Trouble was, I didn't have to leave for awhile. So, I worked on MTurk for about an hour. I was off to the post office and then to McDonald's for their ice tea. I get a large ice tea (no sugar) for when I go to meets. It's only a dollar, so I'm not spending an arm and a leg.
I got to the meeting a little later than I usually do, but I was okay with that. Sat next to JoAnne and we had a good time chatting. Hard to believe - I actually got a lot done!
I took my baskets with me. I had about 4 of them in the bag. I actually finished 2 1/2 baskets. The one with the leave didn't get done, but I needed to cover the space. I saw one of them is an embroidery block and I may do that one tomorrow. I'm not sure. I may work on my eagle tomorrow or even the contest block. I'm really liking how the contest block is coming along and I want to show it, but can't for a little while longer. I also sent the information to my group in case any of them want to do the block contest.
If anyone is interested in the block challenge that "Council Quilt Show 2016" has, then you can send $3 for the fabric to the Council Quilt Show Block Challenge, PO Box 238, Council, ID 83612. I probably shouldn't tell anyone about it to make it so I have a better chance of winning. Then again, a good challenge is a good thing! I used to enter a lot of block contests back in the 1980's and 1990's. I won a few.
I put the cross stitch away for right now. I want to get moving on the eagle and the blocks. I'm finally back to doing the appliqueing again. I want to finish the cross stitch but I need to work on the eagle for dad even more!
Our meeting went great. We only had about 8 people but it turned out okay. We had three of us stay till about 2:30 pm. By the time I got home it was time to get ready to fix supper. At least it was a good day of Happy Quilting!

Waiting At The Eye Doctors......Got A Lot Done!
This morning I was up and ready to go for Art's eye appointment. His appointment was at 9:45 am and I arrived at his place around 8:10 am. We played a game of cribbage, like we used to. Yet again, I lost. But it was fun to play again.
We left around 8:50 am and arrived early. We were at the appointment by 8:30 am. They took him in early for dilating his eyes. We ended up waiting close to an hour past his appointment. We were done around 11 am. He offered to take me to lunch, which I took him up on. We ended up at Red Robin. I like there burgers! I had a cheese burger and he had one that had an egg in it....not my kinda burger. I was surprised at how expensive that was! I hadn't been there in a while - actually since Katt took me there for my Birthday a couple years ago.
Finally got back around 1 pm. I went to moms and got the gift for Sherri (TAS). I had her gift bag from the meeting at moms house. Got that bagged up and will mail it out to her tomorrow. Then went and watered dad's garden. Funny thing was, since it was warm out, the hose worked fine with a small leak. Guess if it's rolled up, it leaks more.....go figure.
Mom had these waiting for me at the house. It was a note with "Lynn, this is for you..." There is one set pillow cases and the other one is just one of them. I have a few of them that I need to finish up downstairs. We'll see if I get to them as well.
This is where I am with the cross stitch. I didn't get any work done on it yesterday. I worked on little on the eagle wing. OH! Here's a funny! I looked for a good 20 minutes for the magnet that goes with the thread minder (corner left). Patrick turned the chair over and we looked all over. I worked on the cross stitch, used the scissors a couple times. Then I turned over my piece to finish the worked area and reached for my scissors. It was heavy and I turned the scissors over to find the small magnet attached to the scissors. No clue where it came from. I even showed Patrick and we both laughed about how I was going to the store to get another one. He was telling me that I need to give it time before I head to the store for another one, because they always show up. In this case, he was right! lol
I also worked on my block that I'm doing for the contest. I took a photo of it and asked Phil what he thought. So far so good. Not sure when I'll work on it. And yet, thinking I will work on it tonight. I like how it's coming along. I just need to double check the form to see if I have to have a lot of the fabric on the block. If not, then I'll be fine.
I've got so much stuff going on here at my chair. I have my cross stitch, my BE, my applique, my bags that they go in. I've also got the notebook that holds my BE magazines (newsletters).
I need to check out the TAS website for our newsletter. Just haven't had the chance. I do miss not getting the newsletter in the mail.
I've been keeping busy and still getting there! I'm getting a lot done....Happy Quilting!

Back To My Eagle
Today started out slowly. It was nice to have a day to myself. I seem to like that more and more lately. Funny how that works.
I worked on laundry and MTurk. Then I decided to go downstairs and see what I could work on. I was surprised to see the iron was still plugged in! I couldn't believe it!! I used it a few days ago (nope not sure when, which means way too long ago!)
I worked on the white fabric for the head and tail. I was going to put a piece of white under the white for the head and tail. I put the white against the fabric and found it really didn't matter.
I pinned the wings down and got ready to applique them down. I found these pins I had. I gave mom my other pins with white heads. I found I like the white headed pins a lot better. These are not as sharp and it took awhile to get them to go through the fabric.
They are small, just not sharp enough for me.
As I was appliqueing this the wings down, I was getting frustrated. I know I shouldn't but I was. I found out one of the gals in my quilt group decided she wanted to make the quilt too. She even went to Jeannie Austin for all her eagle patterns. I'm okay with that. Not sure why she wanted them all because she doesn't usually do those kind of quilts. I have a very hard time with the people I get with, that decide they want to do the same quilt I'm doing. I don't mind when we talk about it and we both are going to make it. I have a problem with those that do it on their own knowing I'm doing it. Then show everyone what they are doing. It makes it look like I'm doing what they are doing, not the other way around. I HATE that. I don't like to copy anyone! I wait till a quilt is done before I get the idea to make a quilt. I don't go round them. When people do that to me, I tend to back off what I'm doing. I get frustrated that someone else is doing what I'm doing. I understand the competitive nature in this quilter, but I'm not doing this quilt for recognition or awards. I don't care if someone can do a better job at the quilt. I care when I feel as if I have to do a better job because of it. I do the best I can as it is. I feel presser when people do that to me. Don't get me wrong - This is a quilt without a pattern. If it was a pattern or on the web, that's different. I had talked to Jeannie Austin about what I could do, and planned it out. When I tell people what I'm doing or what ideas I have, then it bugs me that someone else is doing the same thing. I don't find out till another group lady tells me, "Oh, that's what so-so is doing! I like what she's doing."
Part of my problem - and yes, it's my problem - is that I make quilts for a reason. I love picking the quilt I want to do. I love the process of doing what I do. When I have other quilters that working on my "ideas" then it dampens my spirit of working on a quilt. I'm finding myself in that position now.
This is out of the norm for me. I love how it's coming along. I had to applique a different direction (see photo above) for me. It's the way right handed people do applique. I'm LEFT HANDED. It was fun to do!
I'll suck it up because this quilt is for my father. This quilt will be made specially for him. I will do this quilt on my own with no one seeing my work other than here on the blog. I hate not being able to take my work with me to work on because of "copying" among friends. If someone asked or said they were interested and hoped I didn't mind, that's a different story. I won't mind. But when I find out after words, that does bother me. AGAIN, MY PROBLEM. Okay, off my soap box! Sorry, just had to say what I was thinking.
Last night I worked on my cross stitch again. Loving how it's coming along. Actually getting excited about how it's coming along. I'm getting up to the bird house.
I have more done then this. I have added another flower on the basket hanger on the left. and I started another flower on the right.
I've been pretty busy today with my applique. I'm also going to work on it tomorrow while at the eye doctors with Art.
Tonight is 9-pin no tap bowling. Looking forward to it. My average last week ended up being 230. Loved it.
So, I'm slowly getting back to dad's quilt. I'm hoping to be Happy Quilting!
